And Tampa wins It would've been nice to best them but I'm actually quite happy with the season for Washington. 7-9 is much better than 3-13 from last year, plus it's with a first year coach instilling a new culture. Washington needs to look to really find that long term QB for the future. Alex Smith might be ok short term, at least go mentor a rookie if we get one. Then they need more offensive weapons, Terry McLaren is a great WR so far but I think we could use a #2 WR and a TE. Maybe upgrade the offensive line a little more as well or at least get some depth to it. Defensively the Dline is set for years and really should only get better with how young it is. We will need some linebackers with 2 of the guys saying they'll retire after the year. I'm actually optimistic for Washington Ron Rivera is a nice change to Jay gruden and the team has some young pieces to build around.

The browns have just won their first road playoff game since 1969 (two minutes to go but it's a 3 score lead and roethlisburger is throwing it way to much = all them INTs)

Ok I got muh sleep
I didn't completely watch that browns/Steelers game but I saw a good portion. Pittsburgh didn't come out ready, and I believe they once again underestimate their opponents when it comes to the post season. "The browns are the Browns" was probably motivation for the browns to make Pittsburgh eat it and they deserved it. It seems juju Smith didn't learn from leveon Bell or Antonio Bryant when they were Steelers to not run your mouth off till you actually prove yourself.
I wasn't impressed with Pittsburgh being 11-0 when because I just knew come the playoffs they'll get bounced out easily. They just don't focus like they should be, and Mike Tomlin doesn't hold his players accountable the way he should, it's funny because he's always talking about accountability after their losses🤷 like dude, do something if you're actually a head coach and stop letting the players run you. There's a reason Tomlin hasn't done anything ever since he came, he was lucky to inherit bill cowhers team to get that first super bowl right away but after that? Nothing but disappointment if I were a Steelers fan. At least he's consistently getting them to the post season but at some point you have to realize just getting there isn't enough after so long. I know Pittsburgh doesn't like cycling through coaches but I do think they need to give Tomlin a "give us some better results or you're gone" kind of year for next season.
If Pittsburgh had more discipline and players were held accountable when they're screwing around, they'd probably go farther than they do. Instead they're to busy doing tiktok in the locker room🙃 if I was the HC I'd trade your ass if that's the kind of players I have.

I typed a very long, thorough post last night in regard to the Eagles, Doug Pederson, Carson Wentz, Howie Roseman, etc... I then lost that post because I wasn't watching my low battery status on my phone. Sigh.
Synopsis:
I'm not surprised to see Pederson fired. The reasons listed in these various articles were feelings I had since the SB52 win. The staff they lost post-Championship seemed crucial to their success, and Pederson has seemed to lack a plan for that. Yes, injuries have destroyed the Eagles ever since that SB, but the coaching reached a low ebb this year.
The roster is now old, injury riddled, and highly paid. Lurie's beloved boy Howie Roseman absolutely sucks at the draft, whiffing on stars every year while picking guys that end up out of the league. Yes, he did a great job acquiring the perfect set of Free Agents in the SB52 run, but that's not how you build a team year to year. Good drafts would've made continuity possible all these years, with the occasional FA addressing a need or adding short term value. Until Lurie cans Roseman, my expectations are low. (This doesn't even touch on how many people, both players and operations personnel, seem to hate the guy.)
In 2017, Wentz looked like he'd become one of the best few players in the NFL for the next decade. He wasn't as good the following seasons, but he was playing with guys off the street as injuries destroyed the team. It was hard to tell if he was regressing or if the team was just trash. This year, though, he sucked. Yes, the team was trash. For many games, only Wentz and all-world Center Jason Kelce were on the field from among the expected starters. The O-Line had a new line-up nearly every game. Struggles were to be expected, but he was terrible. The rookie played better with essentially the same trash roster.
Assuming Wentz stays, he'll need to completely transform from this past year. I can't imagine anyone will cut him much slack. Reports concerning his ego and coachability are concerning, but not necessarily true. The Eagles' coaching situation and roster were a mess this year. We also had Covid-19 making life bizarre. Maybe it was just too much shit for Carson to quietly swallow and perform well? I guess we will see.
Times could get tough for Philly for a while. The less talented WFT and Giants both played better and with more heart. They were well coached. They'll add more talent, as teams do. NYG will get their starting QB back on the field. Dallas sucks, but it's mostly for no good reasons. It's only a matter of time before they finally get their shit together. Assuming they resign Dak, they should improve. I think their defense could dramatically improve, too, if they do hire Dan Quinn. Long story short, I see more upside for the other teams in the NFC Least.
Edit: The Texans love trading away their best players. Maybe they'll swap Watson for Wentz. 😆

Edit: The Texans love trading away their best players. Maybe they'll swap Watson for Wentz. 😆 I was never sold on Wentz really, I would've stuck to Nick Foles personally and traded Wentz at that time while looking to the draft for a future long term QB (like hurts if he developes). I figured Wentz would most likely be gone after this season but Doug pederson leaving changes that, I'm just curious what the next head coach does between hurts or wentz. Wentz is making so much that it's hard to justify sitting him, and I think he might still have some trade value even after how bad this year was for him. As for the division: the cowboys will be the cowboys until Jerry Jones isn't running things anymore, they've had some of the best looking teams I've ever seen on paper but they never deliver on the field. Damn Quinn might help that God awful Defense they have but Quinn is well known for defensive meltdowns so I'm not sure it's really that great of a hire. The Giants I'm still iffy on. I don't think they have the right qb to do much and I think they only won what they did because of how awful the division is, 4 of their 6 wins being against the division. I'm just skeptical on them. Washington has potential but I see Dan Snyder just like Jerry Jones, he has such a bad tendency to make football decisions when he has no clue. Hopefully he won't tamper with Ron Rivera like he has with every other HC before. That said Washington finished with the #2 ranked defense and it can definitely get stronger with another draft and free agency. It's a young defense at that as well and I'm really looking forward to it. My issue is how they'll work the offense because outside of a few offensive linemen and Terry McLaren, personally I'd rebuild the entire offense. They need a franchise QB, I don't believe the RBs are that great, they need a #2 and #3 WR and a TE that can block and catch passes. The offensive line also needs improvement with there only being one pro bowler. Alex Smith is making so much money that it puts them in a bind a little bit but I don't think Alex can play a starting role anymore, I don't know how his leg will hold up if it keeps taking them hits, he'll be a good mentor to whomever Washington drafts. I did like how gutsy tyler Heincke was and he didn't play bad vs the bucs and I'd even give him a serious look in the off-season. Problem is he went undrafted for a reason and he's been out of the NFL more or less for 3 years, but maybe he can be that diamond in the rough. Fun fact is he was the first undrafted qb to start a playoff game since Jeff Garcia back in 2003. All I can say is this division sucks right now lol. I'm glad Washington got to go to the playoffs but I still don't believe a losing record deserves a playoff spot even if you win the division. The dolphins were 10-6? 11-5? They deserved to go instead as well as some other teams with more wins. I believe they need to throw away the division crap and just stick to the top 8 in each conference get a playoff spot. This division could be one of the worst for the next couple years possibly, depends on how this coming up off season goes I guess. Washington isn't to far off from being decent enough to go 8-8 at least, the Giants as well. I think Philadelphia really needs a little mini rebuild (they had to fire Doug after that last game, he lost the players and you can't coach or win when you lose the players). Dallas I believe will be a mess until they get an upgrade over Mike McCarthy, I don't believe he's really a good coach (I believe he was a product of having two HoF QBs with Brett favre and Aaron Rodgers carrying him) and he doesn't instill the right attitude Dallas needs right now. He's just another yes man for Jerry to abuse.

It's weird how many great players never get to win it all, or even have a shot at winning it all. And there's Jeff Hostetler with a ring. Which he totally deserves, though; he wasn't great, but he was great when it mattered the most. Football is weird.
Speaking of Hostetler, it strikes me that we've seen a lot of really good backup QB play in the past few weeks.

The Conference Championship games are here! Whoo-hoo! Sunday, 1/24/21 Picking: Tampa Bay Buccaneers(11-5) @ Green Bay Packers(13-3)_____PACKERS This is the first time Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have met in the NFL playoffs. There probably won't be too many more times when we'll see Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers on the same field together. Will this be the last? Buffalo Bills(13-3) @ Kansas City Chiefs(14-2)_____CHIEFS Patrick Mahomes will be off concussion protocol and is expected to play. His foot injury from last week is not expected to be a problem. I'll go with the Chiefs, but this is a hard one to pick. Both of these teams are part of the NFL crème de la crème. NFL Championship Sunday injury report: Bucs-Packers, Bills-ChiefsTampa Bay Buccaneers at Green Bay Packers Bucs: OUT: WR Antonio Brown (knee); QUESTIONABLE: S Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) Packers: OUT: DL Kingsley Keke (concussion); QUESTIONABLE: CB Kevin King (back) Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs Bills: QUESTIONABLE: DT Vernon Butler (quad), WR Gabriel Davis (ankle) Chiefs: OUT: LB Willie Gay (ankle); QUESTIONABLE: RB Le'Veon Bell (knee), CB Bashaud Breeland (concussion, shoulder), RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle, hip), CB Rashad Fenton (foot), WR Sammy Watkins (calf)

Some random observations: If the Chiefs beat the Buccaneers On 2/7/21, they will be the first team since the Patriots won their second game in 2005 to win two back-to-back Super Bowl games. 2/7/21 will be the tenth time in his career that Tom Brady has started as QB in a Super Bowl game. The Chiefs are highly favored to win Super Bowl LV. The Chiefs are my pick to win. HOWEVER, I know better than to ever count out Tom Brady... Tampa Bay is the first team ever to play the Super Bowl as a home game. I'm wondering if Matt LaFleur will still be coaching the Packers next fall. I wonder about Aaron Rodger's future. Josh Allen's father is in the hospital with Covid-19 and I wonder if that affected his game? Even when they were down on the scoreboard, the Chief's defense was strong and consistent. The Bill's defense, not so much. The Bills didn't look like the same team today that beat my Seahawks back on 11/8/2020. Bruce Arians vs Andy Reid is another cool thing about Super Bowl LV. See ya, Bro...

I'm really tired of seeing Brady in every other super bowl lol. Cant deny the guy is a winner though, I know damn near everyone would kill to have the accolades he has to his career. I'm picking Kansas City as it is my states team (and boy is Missouri celebrating with KC going to another super bowl). I'm no KC fan but I know KC fans had to wait like 50 years before another championship game until last year so they should definitely enjoy it because who knows where KC is in the years to come. I too wouldn't underestimate Tom Brady, he's been to 10 of these things for a reason now, I do want to say his age is actually starting to show however but at least Brady has a much better roster with Tampa to back him up compared to the awful Patriot teams the last few years. I like Brady vs Mahomes as well, you have the older face of the NFL vs the new face with Mahomes and Brady. Mahomes is looking to be a very scary qb for his career if he stays healthy.

I'm curious if Washington possibly tries going after Watson, I will say personally I'd like Washington to not give up a ton of draft capital for him. I'm also hearing they might try going for Matthew Stafford as well but that's a short term plug if they pursue him.

I think Stafford going to the Rams just might be what they need, it seems the Rams do as well giving up all them high value picks lol. I've seen people say it was a bad trade for the rams, good for the Lions, some saying Stafford isn't that good because he never won much with Detroit. While true he didn't win much with Detroit, I also feel like that's not all on him, Detroit is known to be one of the worst ran franchises and honestly I think Stafford is probably the best quarterback they've ever had and he was one of the very few players to be excited about over there. If the rams make the SB then it'll have been worth the trade, but really I think this makes them better because goeff fell off once he signed that big contract and hasn't been the same since. Detroit "could" maybe redevelop goeff and have a franchise QB that is still relatively young if they can coach him up. The odds might not be there but it is a possibility if the right qb coach can come in. frosted I do know your Hawks division is looking to be the most competitive so hopefully they pick up some good pieces this off-season. Admittedly I didn't watch the Seahawks much so I really don't know their strengths and weaknesses but I know they have Russell Wilson so QB won't be an issue at all.
