The Mantis is the only common worth using.
Though sometimes I troll pug games by showing up with an Avenger HSol. Ammo pack + AR + AP IV makes the Avenger almost as good as a Phaeston.

Yes the human adepts, human engineers, human vanguard, human sentinal, human soldier, human infiltrator This. The Basic Humans are surprisingly OP. PUGs complaining that they "don't have any good characters yet" need to git gud with these gud kits. Otherwise, Mantis is a beast, much overpowered for a Common. Predator would be good with an auto-fire macro (high rate of fire semi auto). And there is little better PUG Shaming than outscoring them with the Avenger on Gold (I'm sure its possible on Platinum, but I'm not that patient). |

Mantis has already been mentioned and I like it as well.
However, nothing beats out scoring a tryhard BotB Reegar AIU with Katana GI. On your host, admittedly, but it was a pretty damn sweet victory.
So yeah, I like Mantis and Katana.

I Mantis regularly, and have used the Avenger for lulz lately also. Best on power classes.
The Katana I use here and there also for lulz, but usually on the GI.

Human Sentinel, that's about it. As for weapons, the Mantis is a perfectly fine weapon to be using on gold (Or even on Plat with a GI), but it is outclassed badly by the Black Widow and Valiant, so I don't use it any more.

I will rarely complete the Katana challenge as part of Shotgun Mastery. I cheese it with Destroyer.
Mantis I use a lot. It is a great gun, and IMO far superior to all three uncommon SRs.
The others I would use for nostalgia, but they found the airlock years ago.

Pearl is right, even the Shuriken works on a GI. I did the Shuriken Challenge once on a GI on Silver, it somehow felt just right at that level.
On Gold, I fear it would quickly annoy the hell outta me.

All but the Shuriken. The Shuriken challenge was grueling on Gold. The Mantis was huge in bootstrapping up from an empty manifest without armor piercing on my new nothing-but-gold account. Katana was passable with armor piercing mods. I'd still be willing to do challenges with the Predator and decent mods.
No more Shuriken on Gold, though.

Mantis is an awesome weapon. I can generally double up pugs with the fqi with a mantis most of the time. I actually enjoy that combo on gold a lot even with good players.
