Happy for them but it is a strange award for it to win IMO. Must have been some other really poorly innovative games out there this year.

For most "innovative gameplay"...you should see the people complaining online. I doubt they looked at the other finalists for that category thought: Two "detective" games, a low budget fighter game and Remnant II...

That award feels like a joke to me. I saw it on my Steam page today and I was like WTF?! Did they bribe somebody? LOL. Can't think of any category this game is less deserving of. Unless Starfield somehow got it for the ship building which is the best feature of the game at least.

I think games awards are a joke in general and I feel that devs look at it as something to pad their resume. I just find it hilarious that the same people who were memeing on Bethesda for not winning anything at the Games Awards are losing their minds over it winning something. People put way too much value over awards especially one that's created by Geoff aka: the Doritos Pope. For all people's supposed hate for games journalists, they seem to really care whether or not a game wins an award bestowed by them.

I think the NG+ mechanic is a little different. It gives players (like myself) who don't like to know more than their character does the ability to RP as already knowing what happens, because if you did the quest as that character before, the PC does know what happens. If you didn't do it before, then it's new to both the player and the PC. It also incorporates the mechanic into the storyline in multiple instances (not saying how due to spoilers).

That could actually be it. It's an interesting mechanic on paper. I think the execution is disappointing but they did try something new there, I guess. Innovation is a vague category and I doubt there are many games that really do something super crazy innovative. A game does not have to be innovative to be amazing. The opposite is true as well. Personally I would give most credit to the ship building. Haven't seen that in an RPG before. Wouldn't exactly call it innovative but at least it's actually fun.

Innovative doesn’t necessarily mean completely new. It can be just taking what is old and making it fresh. There’s no game on the sci fi market like Starfield. It offers everything from ship building, rpg, exploring planets, ship combat, companions, fully realized quests. It’s brimming with ambition and essentially is everything that Star Citizen wanted to be. If you look at Starfield from its individual parts, it may not be the best at it. But what makes Starfield so good is that it’s great by the sum of its parts and that to me what makes it innovative.

I think I'm at the point where I'm seriously debating if Star Citizen is a scam or if Chris Roberts is allowing his vision is getting out of control. Roberts always needed someone to keep his scoping under control. They basically rewrote the CryEngine (well Amazon version now) and created a lots of new tech to match the vision he wanted (from networking to procedural tools). Roberts also caused many feature implementations to be remade from scratch because they were not quite like he wanted them (I think the animation rigs was remade 3 times). The guy won't accept short cuts and video games are made of short cuts to fit deadlines.

What I've learned watching Star Citizen's development is that publishers despite them being pushy and out of touch, are a necessary evil especially for a guy like Roberts. Sometimes, you gotta bite the bullet and compromise your vision so you can get the game out. What I'm seeing is a man's ambition going waaayyyy out of control to the point where that his vision is likely going to be impossible to realize.

Concerning that Steam award, it's not hard to see how Starfield won. I haven't even heard of three of the other finalists. I wouldn't consider myself competent to vote in that category, but I don't think all other Steam users show such restraint.

Well I learned something about the character creator today. My Anna Morgan is actually a dude. I forgot to check the pronoun when leaving, looks like it default to the original body type of the preset.

Big update coming next week to Steam beta on the 17th (for two weeks, then rolled to everyone). By big, it only says about 100 fixes, which is like small if you followed BG3/Cyberpunk 2077 patching... Mostly some quest and graphical/performance fixes. Some stuff should have been fixed months ago, some even was...there is another fix for asteroid following ships in it.

Nice to be in a world where 500 creds can clear that up for you.

Dropped by the wretched hive of scum and villainy known as the Steam Community today. It did not disappoint. These two were too good not to share. And by "good" I mean.... well, you'll see. linklinkWhy did I click on this? But more importantly, why are you talking to the OP?? Playersexual is just offering the most options with the least amount of work. And I don't mean this as a negative for once about the game. I like playersexual because I can pursue the character I end up liking the most as a person. I switched from Sam to Andreja because turns out she fit the best for the character I was ROLEPLAYING and I found her most interesting too. Can't imagine how sad and exhausting it must be to have zero abstraction capabilities. Imagine being so insecure that a fictional character hitting on a fictional character you're playing freaks you out. How is a flirt option more immersion breaking than the option to say or do something evil when I'm trying to roleplay a nice person? My character would never do that but the option doesn't suggest they would. It's just a stupid RPG mechanic. BG3 is a horny game but RPGs have been notorious sex buffets for a long time. Might blow this guy's mind that heterosexual people play gay characters because it's fun to play somebody other than yourself. This guy should maybe not play RPGs and stick to adventure games like Uncharted with male heroes who are usually heterosexual. While I would approve of a gay toggle for those sad individuals, it's just funny that real life doesn't work like this AT ALL. Oddly I've never been hit on by a woman (or I didn't notice) while a bunch of people had that idea about me. But people hit on other people all the time not knowing if they're playing for their team. It shouldn't be traumatizing. They should feel flattered in fact. Somebody thinks you're attractive? Be happy about it! Don't know why I wasted time talking about these stupid threads. I could rant all day about the collosal disappointment that is Starfield to me but playersexual romances sure isn't on the list.

It's amazing how Starfield is trashed for being "woke" while BG3 gets away a lot of debauchery lol. Seeing a Bugbear peg an Ogre was still etched in my mind when I played BG3 lol.

BG3 online footprint, which resulted in amazing sells, was in big part driven by the bearsex clip shared by all the people complaining about it a few months before the game released.

I mean Bethesda is (thankfully) tame when it comes to..... shall we say degeneracy. I don't mind sexiness, but like eating your favorite food, it gets old after a while. Besides, all that sexy stuff are what mods are for.
