Peebee: Did you get some sand on your boots?
Peebee: Catch you later, sucker!
Ryder: what's this a floating car? OMG i can't believe it!
Why Ryder must ride around her car all the time?
Peebe and many others npcs use them constantly: all the mooks on kadara and elaaden, the kett use dropships, the angara use them, even the final meridian mission shows the whole initiative offloading troops by shuttles. The only dumb person on the whole galaxy who is still using a landrover is Ryder.
Is this just becasue of the nostalgia factor? to make people to say "hey this is like ME1 Mako, so it must be good". Or is there any other reason?
I hope the Nomad get wrecked and we get a proper means of transport, the M-44 Hammerhead was in the right direction imo, a hover that could jump around obstacles instead of circling around them like a moron. I doubt i'm the only one who struggled on the first playthrough to find some hidden bases (kadara anyone?) because the quest markers were on top of a mountain.

Well I suppose the main reason is that the Nomad is slower. Flying in shuttles would be a great way to get where you're going... But the Nomad would be better for taking your time branching out from those locations to scan for resources and find NEW locations without accidentally passing them by. As well as particular items, small details like the various geological surveys you do. Probably better on resources and less noticeable than a shuttle continuously taking off and landing every 100 yards.

Well, really if we did have a shuttle, it's a fair bet that those various points of interest probably wouldn't exist. In terms of gameplay, the shuttle would serve as a fast travel mechanism, no different from when Shepard hails a cab on Illium.

We had a shuttle in Mass Effect 3 and it was even armed. It was great.
I already made the point, when ME:A was still under development, that it makes little sense to have a slow wheeled unarmed vehicle if you have to explore entire foreign planets, an armed nimble dropship would have made a lot more sense.
Imagine having a fast dropship in Elaaden, making low flybys with 300mph while shooting missiles into bandit camps. No slow 6 wheel drive upgrades but upgradeable armament and boosters for even faster speeds. I think that would have been 300% more fun than the NOMAD, and ME:A is all about the rule of cool, no? .

Andromeda and logic do not match. PeeBee loyalty mission shows just how stupid it is for the Tempest to not have a dropship.

The Nomad only makes sense if shuttles use some sort of finite/precious resource that the Nomad does not, or the shuttles are just themselves too precious. I haven't seen that yet - seen a lot of crashed shuttles though.
The Mako made more sense in ME1 where there weren't shuttles all over the place. Eden Prime has a rail system for crying out loud.

I think we argued hard against a land vehicle but were drowned out by Mako lovers. Because the mako was so popular without a high end PC and mods that made it worth driving.... This is what I meant when I said people who enjoy ME1 the most are different to people who enjoyed 2 the most. I wanted to shoot stuff from my Kodiak again. Its called upgrading Bio we upgraded to the Kodiak.

I think that the Tempest having a shuttle would've been fine...if there were anywhere to store it.
However, I'm quite taken with the Nomad, especially after you get that sucker upgraded. You can't tell me that H-047C would've been better with a shuttle than the Nomad.

Even ME1 kind of clashes with ground vehicles, because the Citadel itself is swarming with regular consumer vehicles that can travel about through the air with ease. I don't think shuttles really suit any kind of actual gameplay, so it would just go back to having it drop us off at the map and everything is on foot like ME2/3 did.

The Tempest isn't large enough for a drop ship, and taking a drop ship everywhere would have you missing alot of the scenery/collectibles. You're dropping off mining nodes and largely undetected in the Nomad. For surveying/exploration speed is not always the best option... Or we'd take helicopters everywhere as it is now. For quick flybys, sure great. For in depth exploration you'd need to be closer to the ground. Maybe a hover craft would be a fair compromise.

Eh! After what happened during our "landing" on habitat 7, I just headcanon that my Ryder has an aversion to shuttles. "You ain't getting me on no damn plane Hannibal!"

The real reason is the horse power. You just don't get that kind of horse power out of a shuttle. Fuckin' Nomad can CLIMB-A-HILL, lemme tell you WHAT.
Straight up, vertical incline, full on-thrusters, jump jets are for PUSSIES. You wanna be a bird, fly around all flappy flappy then GO FUCK A DUCK.
I drive a Nomad, a MAN'S truck. Has 6 wheels because FUCK YOU. You don't like it because you can't handle the power, its just too much ATV for you. Go sail through your clouds, put on a Kenny G CD while you do for full effect.
When I roll up in my Nomad, wheels spinning, dirt flying, those Kett are gonna think one thing before I blow em to hell: "I bet that sum bitch has a HUGE dick."
