Probably ME2. MEA is really good overall as well. ME1 and 3 isn't as strong overall even if there are some truly amazing tunes.

Hm that is not easy. ME1 as it got the most memorable tracks... Main Theme, SPectre Induction, Citatel, Presidium, Vigil, Victory.. but the most of the soundtrack is mediocre
ME2 was... well there are not as many "defining" tracks, but the overall soundtrack is above average, most of the tracks have few parts which are good and highly/easy memorable. And some are just "good" like Crash Landing > The Collector Base > The End Run > Suicide Mission > The Long Walk, also, LOTSBs Vasir Combat is pretty good
ME3 is confusing, it got some good tracks, I like most of them, but overall does not realy fit ME like ME1
MEA... hm well, it got 2 or 3 good tracks, the rest is, meh

Honestly, to be fair to all the games I'd have to give each game as long as it took ME1's music to grow on me. It was NOT an instant thing by a long shot. I respected the 80's vibe but I didn't think it really achieved greatness. Even now it's hit and miss. So there's not a favorite soundtrack by game. There's just favorite tracks spread out through the series... very much so including Andromeda. I agree, but it took me a long time to hear music (the absence was deafening to me) in Andromeda. Once I heard it, I really appreciated it. However, Mass Effect 1 set a very high standard and very few studios, to this day, have even gotten close to the level of artistry behind that music.

I'm going to have to go with ME1 then. I just thought that game was excellently scored. The first scene when you're walking through the Normandy to the theme before you go through the relay for the first time. The hold the hold the line speech, when Saren kills himself and falls through the glass, rescuing the Destiny Ascension, coming out of the rubble. That somber music playing after Virmire. I can still hear it all. Was just great all around. ME2 was close because I think ME2 had by far the best battle themes, especially in it's DLCs. The battle themes in Overlord, LOTSB, Stolen Memory were awesome. Overlord is probably my favorite battle theme in the series. ME3 - The first scene leaving Earth was powerful for me, but I can't really think of others that stood out in the game. ME:A - I still think my game was bugged or something because I hardly ever heard any music. Even in the videos I captured, there's no music or it's really faint drowned out by the other sounds. I've listened to some tracks, but if we're counting how the game was scored, I don't have much to go off of. Excellent. Well said.

Suicide Mission. Period. I actually sometemes kept the start screen of ME2 open just to listen to the epicness. And Liar of the Shadow Broker. ME3 went to dramatic at some points for my taste and MEA is just meh.

Andromeda is an okay score, with a few stand out tracks, but compared to it's predecessors it's unquestionably lacking. Unfair to even make the comparison to the OT soundtrack at this point.

But those two should stand alone imo anyway.

I wish I could remember the music in any of them, all I can recall is the "duh duh duh duh" music played over the space map, and the synth music on Eden Prime in ME1 (that I think appears throughout the game if I am correct).

I hope modders can add to MEA's soundtrack. It would help add such texture and make some things in the story have much more emotional impact. Think of the music in DAI, which imo was excellent, esp the Solas theme at the end of Trespasser.

Its hard to pick just one, the entire trilogy had such an excellent soundtrack. ME1 Virgil, ME2 Arrival DLC; ME3 Mars and Leviathan..... all so great.
ME:A sticks out like a sore thumb though, its soundtrack was extremely minimalistic and very bland - and that compared to most other games, not just with the ME trilogy.

It was appropriate to the scene in most cases, but it was meant to be a single contribution to the palette, and it was effective. Sadly, Andromeda never even gave us much in that regard.

I can't comment, those two tracks are all I can recall from all four of the games. I can recall a bit more from the DA series, but that is probably because it is just more in tune with my musical taste (opera fan here). I really don't have a great ear for video game music.

Andromeda comes up short in quantity and in that case, it's just too noticeable. Bioware knows musical talent and gets those that are passionate, but not yet mainstream, to promote or perform for that title. For crying out loud, talk about self-awareness with Rag-N-Bone-Man

It's amazing when passion and soul are in complete synthesis with coding, writing, acting, leading, editing, directing, teaching, learning, communicating, listening, painting, orchestrating, quality testing and loving your project. That is BioWARE. So, yeah... tough cookies, snowflakes.

ME2 closely followed by ME1 and then ME3.
MEA has some tracks I really enjoy, but overall...huge disappointment. Beyond the fact that you hardly ever actually hear the music in game, it feels kinda bland. It's like bad movie music.

Personally I think DA in general was stronger in the music department than Mass Effect, though DA2 is a bit lax, and it seemed as if Zur was not really as interested in composing there. But I'll always maintain my opinion that Inquisition got the best of the lot. Morris' work is pretty stellar, especially Trespasser. That Solas theme is gorgeous.

I remember still, how inspired I was the first time Shep walked to the bridge of the Normandy as that awesome music built up to it's crescendo. I felt like a million dollars. As in 1 and 2 when shep made a speech to the pulling-of-heartstrings music. Shivers would run down your spine.
Now you have Ryder trying to make a speech to the sound of Bart Simpson taking music lessons, making the whole scene feel as a bad joke.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, that a good soundtrack will make you remember what is happening in the story even when you're not actually watching it. Therefore, ME2's soundtrack is my favorite. "The Normandy Reborn", "Suicide Mission", "The End Run", "Legion", and especially "Crash Landing" and "The Attack" you can follow the music and know exactly what is going on. I also love the Collectors theme that is present in "The Attack", "An Unknown Enemy", and "Crash Landing". I still think though that the squad mates theme music should have had different titles than just there name. I mean what's cooler for a title? "Garrus" or "Archangel"? "Thane" or "The Assassin"? "Samara" or "The Jusitcar"? "Jack" or "Subject Zero"?I renamed them all in iTunes: Mr. Taylor, Subject Zero, The Assassin, The Justicar, The Engineer, The Geth, Operative Lawson, Archangel, Pure Krogan, and The Professor. lolBut I'll always maintain my opinion that Inquisition got the best of the lot. Morris' work is pretty stellar, especially Trespasser. That Solas theme is gorgeous.
Completely agree with you there. "The Place of All Fears", "Alexius", "The Elder One Theme", "Adamant Fortress", "The Western Approach", and especially "The Fall" are some of my favorite tracks.
To be honest, I never cared for the soundtrack to DA:O or DA2.
