I like the main theme of Andromeda more than the others, but it lacks set piece themes each game in the trilogy possessed for the big moments. ME1 had final assault, ME2 with Jump Drive, Crash Landing and Suicide Mission, and ME3 had the Fleets Arrive and subsequently the Battle for Earth track (sadly absent from the OST). To me, Andromeda should be up there, but there wasn't enough. We were short-changed.

I don't know about more than the others but Andromeda's main theme is a nice bit of music, usually skipped before it builds though, and I quite like the way its used in some of the big plot moments too. It's just that there's not a lot else in between.

I enjoy all of the OT music. MEA is just so lacking. Most times there is no music to be heard. End credit song is nice and that is the only one that comes to mind.

For me it has to be ME 2, the DLC to be exact. Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker had amazing soundtracks. One of the few video game OST's that i still look up on youtube occasionally. My two favorites: 1. Agent combat - LotSB 2. Overlord battle theme I don't remember ever being so amped up by any other game soundtrack as i was when i first heard those two in game. As for Andromeda, i remember that i took note a couple of times when a good track started, but i don't remember when or where and overall it is a bit lacking when compared to the OT.

ME3 is my fav soundtrack to me it has the best cinematic themes, its combat themes are just below ME2 combat themes while it's not as scifiish as the others I'm still a sucker for Orchestral Music Some examples I like - The View of Palaven is great as it compliments the mood the mission. The beginning of the music it sounds hopeless as the reapers are destroying the turian fleet and wiping out their entire civilization but as the music picks up so does the urgency when fighting on Manae and seeing the turian troops fight and turian ships go down I get feeling that turians will not go down without a fight
- Farewell and Into the Inevitable - Title of the song describes it perfectly An emotional piece to be sure seeing the normandy in dock for one last time We've been through hell and back with these characters for 5 years when this DLC came out and hearing them be hopeful even though as fans we all know what would happen in the end was sad and of course there is shep saying "the best" which would describe my experience with the entire trilogy
- The Fleets Arrive - Having elements of the Mass Effect 1 ost which made it even more nostalgic this song to me is just 2nd to the Suicide mission theme in terms of epicness This song to me is like giving a giant middlefinger to the reapers one last hurrah for the United milkyway galaxy they know its hopeless but they still fight on.
While it is subjective I think the me3 soundtrack is the best. there is a reason why its the most viewed soundtrack compared to the other mass effect soundtracks on youtube with most tracks in the OST pulling in hundreds of thousands to millions of views. The Trilogy soundtrack will always be my favorite in gaming
Perhaps I am blinded by nostalgia but trilogy soundtrack is so memorable that every time I hear tracks from the trilogy I visualize the mood and the atmosphere of what is going on when the music is playing.Music and Moments like this is what the MEA is lacking I found most the MEA OST to be forgettable The only Music I enjoyed is the menu theme, the beginning of the game and the end of the game and some of the combat themes are okay.

Mass Effect 2 for me, it kept the synth timbres of the first game while adding big orchestral tunes and effects. The Illusive Man track wonderfully set the tone. Humans are Disappearing reinforced the sense of loss. Nothing in the series has matched The Normandy Reborn; a true "hell yeah!" moment that makes me ready to go explore the galaxy (even now). Jacob's music superbly depicts a menacing heroism (out of place for the character perhaps, but still a great track). I still remember the first time I explored Freedom's Progress at the start of ME2. Incredibly creepy music. I could go on about Samara's track, The End Run, Suicide Mission, Reflections, the Shadow Broker, Overlord, and Kasumi soundtracks... Even Arrival had fantastic music. There is barely a weak spot to be found. Hmm those that you mentioned (besides the DLC which were amazing and probably the best pieces of all) the rest were the least impacting for me actually (for ME2 as my favorite soundtrack), more than the slow introductory tracks and Jacob's moody creep tone (which was still kinda cool + it fit well) I much more enjoyed the theme of Jack and her prison escape, the music there did really, really set the tone so perfectly. Have you payed attention to music on Tuchanka when you went for Okeer? That one was extremely well done too and almost nobody mentions it. And all the music on Omega, and Tali's theme were all so damn good. And everything on Illum was amazing too. Samara's track was, meh, for me, compared to most of the other tunes but somehow it still gets mentioned a lot. There were even a lot of cool tracks that were never put in the OST or mentioned during the small planetary side missions that you did. Remember the foggy planet where you found the Rachni (I think they were) and the Blood Pack outpost? They had the perfect tone, but can't really find them anywhere to listen to. Damn, just thinking about it how atmospheric and immersive the soundscapes of ME2 were wants me to play the game again. Every moment, every thing you did in that game was so well designed and put together. But I'm still playing the single player MEA MMO instead.. It's so boring compared to all the excitement of ME2 where music also played a big role in it, it melded with the pacing so damn well.

I enjoyed all the soundtracks from the trilogy, they were extremely well done and I often use them as background music while working. Makes everything a little easier, it's just so atmospheric and awesome. I feel a tiny bit epic even fixing excel spreadsheets that someone messed up. But the tune that will be stuck in my ear forever is just the ME1 main theme. Best ever. Gives me goosebumps. Oh and one remark (more in regards to sound rather than music): banshees. Dear god. I was sooo terrified of them, the sound alone made me all panicky, let alone their creepy looks.

Definitely mass effect 1 for me the soundtrack had a quirky sci-fi feel to it.

I completely respect anyone who votes ME1. It did after all create Vigil, the main theme suite, the Reaper theme, the synth identity, however.
I'm totally going for 2. It just came together so well. At worst a piece of BGM sounded uninteresting but never out of place like they did in ME1 at times and there's so much attention to detail and talent poured into it. The fact that Jack Wall and co. composed 3 CDs where 2 are strictly combat and ambient themes is amazing. Jack Wall said he hated how bad the transitions are in video games in general and he probably pushed for making up for those shortcomings with what he did with as music director for ME2. It was probably expensive as hell though. Maybe it wasn't sustainable? Maybe he just left because working with BioWare under EA wasn't satisfying to him. Then again, he said in his most recent AMA that if he got the opportunity to work for EA/BioWare again he'd take it. To me that implies his departure wasn't all his decision.

Mass Effect 2 because
Suicide Mission Normandy Reborn The Illusive Man theme The Long Walk
The first one had its moments like Vigil, UNC Worlds(it carried through the 3 games, so I don't think it counts?), Saren's Theme, Arriving on the Citadel but ME2 beats that, IMO.(I guess because the fact that I actually started with the second game)
If we're talking DLC wise, Citadel DLC hands down. It's just pure gold.
And ME:Andromeda had some fine moments too, like some combat themes(Archon's ship and Elaaden are worth mentioning) and the Galaxy Map music.

The atmosphere is pure DREAD after the heroic epicness of suicide mission and it just reminds me of the incoming threat. I simply love Arrival and i think its underrated as fuck. The atmosphere, the music, the solo mission, the reaper artifact revelation , the evacuation , the final cutscene .. DAMN just by thinking of it mass effect trilogy is my favoriite game of all time i ve played tons of games the last 25 years

I don't know which song I have listened more, the Suicide mission or the love theme from ME3. I have to pick ME3 as best soundtrack because there are more tracks i've been listening outside the games, The Fleets arrive and that opening piano song everyone seems to hate, too.
But if I would pick one soundtrack only for the game and not for my running tracks, I would pick Mass Effect 1.
