Most just do poor damage. Incisor is fine at up to 1/3 map away (definitely use Pen + Damage Mods if you have them), it does good damage. The climb is easy to manage on PC at that distance. It shoots 3 bullets for 200 each, with a 5 burst clip. The issue on console is probably climb management. Nomatter what you have to aim to get the 2nd/3rd shot to be the ones hitting the head.
Sweeper has great mechanics (high rank with Dmg and Clip Size mods), but the damage is just lacking. It's like the shadow in my book; I'd love to use it more but it only gets touched on easy mode.

The Sweeper and Hornet are both decent. Down side of the Sweeper is the cooldown.
The Valkyrie would be decent if it weren't for the recoil. It is usable, just not very fun.

Every class of weapon should have its niche. I just found it funny that burst weapons are even less popular now than they were in ME3MP despite the fact now we have WAY MORE of them available. Because we had the Argus in ME3, and it kicked ass with its damage per bullet. With enough stability on a turian, it was possibly a better death dealer than the Saber. I liked the Argus too. It was terrible on most characters but when it was good it was really cool. I ran it on my Human soldier. Adrenaline rush damage boosts meant it only took one burst to kill mooks.

Well, most guns in this game are space trash so it doesn't matter whether they're burst, single, or full auto. However, back on topic. Hypothetically speaking the reason is because in these 2 games (Andromeda and ME3 more on this later) they don't give any advantage over full auto weapons. They either have shit accuracy, crazy recoil, crap RoF, awful fire delay between bursts, or all of that in the same package. Completely off of what actual IRL burst guns are. ME3 did have "situational" burst weaps like the Valkyrie that could melt shit up in the hands of the almighty TSol. Some others were fucked up beyond help like the always trash Inscisor, why a forced-zoom-in weapon needs to have such an atrocious recoil is insanely dumb IMHO, especially when the damage is shit. Even in that game most burst weapons sucked unless used in the proper kit with the proper consumables and all that.
I don't understand that balance design, it makes no sense at all. But then again, a helluva lot of stuff they've done doesn't either.

I use the Incisor on my TSol, what's the point of taking all those stability boosts if you aren't going to use them?
Though even on other kits I have used the incisor a bit and it's alright, the recoil is manageable when you get used to it. The Raptor is just a bit more user friendly overall. I miss the actual assault rifles, the vindicator, phaeston, etc.

I accidentally used the Zalkin and Sweeper in back to back games. I haven't repeated the experience. I just really wanted to find one assault rifle that didn't suck the proverbial donkey cock. I'm assuming the donkey is still happy then?

I've used the Incisor a couple times. Recoil is bad, but managable, dmg is ok. Trigger finger is just not up for it anymore. After 1 game of non-automatics it needs a 5 game rest

In other words, if you can manage the recoil, Incisor gives you a weapon with lower apparent dps than the widow, the raptor, the vanquisher, the indra, the ishray and the inferno (I am not sure exactly how long of a stall it forces between bursts, so I might have either included a few marginal sniper rifles which I should not have included, or excluded some which I should not have excluded... like maybe the valiant). But you do not usually get the weak point multiplier of a single shot sniper (widow, vanquisher, ishray), nor do you get the "you can see where you were hitting so you can move the hose" effect of full auto sniper rifles (raptor, indra, inferno). We might have a nice niche for this thing, but I do not understand how to find that niche. Some people do like that Hornet, though, maybe because the range they like using it from works well with burst fire? Maybe incisor has some good medium-ish range uses?

Some people do like that Hornet, though, maybe because the range they like using it from works well with burst fire? Maybe incisor has some good medium-ish range uses? There is no permanent niche for the incisor, it's a nice alternative to the raptor/charger for starting out. It does solid damage unlike the 60% of the weapons that have much lower dps, and the 15% of weapons that have terrible accuracy or recoil spread but better raw dps. Also, it's an easy weapon achievement because it isn't garbage. The Hornet is exactly like the sweeper in terms of usefulness, with a touch less recoil yet. It is fun in single player where it has much much much higher damage per shot values. The correct analogy would be: The incisor is to the vanquisher as the hornet is to the predator.

Have you tried the Valkyrie? In me3, it was a joke even after the buff. In Andromeda, they're just trolling us. I swear it took me 6-9 busrt at a raider's head at close range to kill him. That was only if the guy with the vanquisher didn't take the kill from me. Valkyrie really is just a training gun not an N7.

I thought I would be seeing more 2,3 shot burst weapons (e.g Incisor, Valkyrie) as people level up their weapons, ...but it seems like they are completely extinct in real games. I have seen like one person using Valkyrie and two other people using Incisor when I first started this game. After that, I have seen 0 person using burst weapons. I guess they are just the worst among bad weapons... Does the piranha count

Burst weapons always seem to suck in some form in the recent games I've played. There's always some downside.. mediocre damage, recoil, and no compensation for how much ammo they actually use. Either one or all three.

Either one or all three. Yeah. Burst weapons are not that popular even in other games such as Modern Warfare or Uncharted. I think it`s because most of them kinda lose out of second and third shots.
