Can confirm that the IGN article was a waste of time, but spoiler-free. If it wasn't for the information about how many abilities a squaddy has, or the animated galaxy map, I would be pretty sure it was a loose summary of the larger vids Bio posted in the last 3 months.

Summary of what I've read so far. IGN is spoiler free, mostly talks about combat, classes, exploration, a quick idea of the dialogue system and some issues the author had. Also mentions the name of one of the human squadmates, the name of an Ark and the name of the new Mako and new Normandy. Gamespot has light spoilers around some of the characters and the types of things they say, not exact dialogue and on the very beginning of the game. Everything else is similar to the IGN article. Also gives a summary of the mission the author played, details of an area explored, the names of squadmates already released and their impressions of them. (both articles have this info) Polygon is spoiler free but not very informative. The author compares it to the Trilogy alot. RPGsite has light spoilers if you consider impressions of the dialogue system and characters spoilers. Impressions of the pilot and the doctor (who has had info revealed about her today). The video on this article does have some visual spoilers of environments and characters. The new gameplay trailer is very focused on combat and how the levelling system works. Does have visual spoilers the main alien bad guys and squadmates. The new Voice Actor Video does contain some light story spoilers. Hope this helps! Edit: Adding some additional points as requested by shechinah .

Thanks to you and Taliwhacker but can you add whether the sites talk about characters and the plot. An example would be if they mention the names or races of characters such as squadmates?

I keep logging on to the ME:A recruit site to check if a new one is available. I'm too afraid to venture into the twitter thread now that we're getting closer to release to see when the next briefing drops. I don't know why I want that helmet so much but I do. On a side note, I did get a chance to start up my third ME:3 playthrough this past weekend, hooray! This is my first attempt at a complete renegade run and I'm finding the Priority Tuchanka mission to be extremely difficult. I just love Wrex and Mordin too much, I...I just can't betray them! How it Tuchanka coming along? Betrayed our favorite salarian yet? I've only done that once, shot Padok Wiks but Wreav was the krogan leader in that PT. I just couldn't leave the galaxy with Wreav in charge. Was about to post a screenshot of my FemShep dealing with the situation but didn't want to spoil it for you in case you haven't seen it before. Thank you for checking in! Sadly, I have not had a chance to betray Mordin/sob uncontrollably at my decision, since Sunday night. My husband is traveling for work this week and my 11 month old daughter is teething, so most of my free time has been spent rocking and comforting a fussy baby. But, he comes home tomorrow night, so I should be able get to get some more time to play this weekend. I already took off from work for Andromeda and told my husband he can't book work travel for those days I took off because someone needs to watch the baby while I'm in space I do know what happens with that scene because I did look it up years ago after playing, just to see the outcome, but I'm pretty sure I'll still be shocked when it happens.

I think it's fairly safe to say we now know the names, races and quite a bit more about most of the squadmates... I think it differs how many squadmates posters here have seen and what they know about them.
Personally, I know of five but I only know the general appearances of all five, I only know the names of three and I only know the general personality of one. I deliberately avoided reading the biographies in the fourth briefing for the two squadmates because I wanted to experience that for myself. One I was accidentally spoiled on and the other four were ones I learned about from the N7 Day trailer from 2016 before I went on a blackout.
I think I've correctly guessed the race of each squadmate but my blackout was deliberately to avoid learning any more of their names, appearances and personalities in large part because I didn't want to know when I'd be meeting a potential squadmate in-game and I wanted to have a genuine first impression with them in the game itself as oppose to before its release. That's why I'm hoping we can continue to either keep squadmate information away from the thread or at least have it be tagged for spoilers.

It also contains similar info on combat as the IGn and Gamesport articles

This is the way I see it: 1) IGN may say it is spoiler free, but their idea of spoilers is subjective and maybe different for you or I. Unless they plan to ONLY talk about combat, customization, graphics, and sound....their preview is not spoiler free. The moment they talk about characters, locations, and early plot setups....their preview is no longer spoiler free. 2) The reason why fans complain about Bioware not showing enough is cause they are used to Bioware showing off a lot of plot and character details for their games before release. So with MEA they tried a different approach and fans werent used to this thus they complained. Note how fans never complained about CD Projekt, Bethesda, or Rockstar Games, not showing off any plot/character details because those companies have a reputation of never doing that in the first place. When they talk about their games, it is always in the realm of gameplay and options and VAGUE plot/character stuff. When Bioware talks about their games, it is always in the realm of locations, characters, and plot and VAGUE gameplay/customization stuff. If a child is used to his mother feeding him at the same time 3 times a day....that child is going to cause a fit if the mother now only feeds him 2 times a day and at random times. In short, Bioware fans have been conditioned to the "lets reveal everything" style of marketing from Bioware so when they tried something similar to other devs....fans had a gag reflex. I get where you're coming from but light spoilers are generally used to advertise games. CD Projekt, for example, did reveal information about locations and general plot for the Witcher 3 & the two major expansions. Bioware may have traditionally shown more than that but not by much, DA:I was a complete oversaturation, but I don't remember the Mass Effect, DA2 or DA:O being particularly spoilery, character videos in ME2 were about the height of it. The amount of information people want about a game varies so much that it is difficult to get a balance, with both sides of the aisle saying it shows lack of confidence. With Mass Effect 1, at E3 2007 Bioware allowed the media in a behind closed doors session to see the Shepard vs Wrex Virmire confrontation and after the embargo lifted, this whole scenario was spoiled. Also, it was pretty much confirmed before launch that at some point in the game, you (Shepard) Ashley or Kaidan can die and you can only save one of them. With DAO, the entire plots regarding the Origin stories was essentially spoiled in pre-release marketing material either from previews from the media or trailers. Even the Cailan death at Ostagar was hinted at.

If squadmate XYX is a hot headed person and squadmate ABC is the morale enforcer, I would rather find this out by actually playing the game and learning first hand myself about their personalities, not by reading about it on some website a month before release. Thanks for the summary!

Have no idea how many squadmates there are so don't know if I know the visual of all of them. I have seen pics of 3 of them, also thanks to twitter. But no planets or enemies or areas or hubs or anything like that. Will start using a link straight in here.

Some of us would rather not know whether any particular NPC we meet can become a squadmate. Not knowing that helps us interact with them without metagaming.

Oh no I understand that, I just don't understand why you would be on the internet. It's the non-genocidal version of a jewish person in Nazi Germany saying "I'm just going to keep living here, I'm sure they won't catch me." I personally am on the internet because I want to know everything about gameplay and multiplayer and so far the few spoilers, like characters, have been light enough for me to stay. I'm not going to spoil anything for you but you will not succeed as long as you stay on the internet. Things will be spoiled for you.

Oh no I understand that, I just don't understand why you would be on the internet. I have to use the internet for various purposes with some being related to my studies. As an example, this is why I can't stay off Youtube for the duration of my blackout: it's a part of my language class so the best I can do is take precuations to prevent most spoilers and limit the damage.
This thread is basically a place for us to discuss Mass Effect without having to worry about being spoiled and for some, it doubles as a way of filtering information like, say, if they wish to know about combat then someone would be able to provide them a semi-detailed overview of the combat without mentioning characters or the plot and tagged as spoiler so those who do not would not spoiled. It's not perfect but it has honestly gone very well, in my opinion, barring some close calls.

This thread is for people who want to remain as spoiler free as possible while still interacting with others during the wait. The surest way would certainly be to stay away from the internet altogether (although that might not actually be possible for some for whatever reason) but we're here to commiserate anticipate the unknown together. I have already said that I'm still surprised at how much I'm NOT seeing by lurking around the MET section of the forums, but I know to be cautious.

Lucky for me I'm only vaguely interested in the game. But as a result, I know remarkably little. I don't even know the names of the squadmates. What I would like to know is stuff about the combat mechanics, but those details seem really hard to find.

What I would like to know is stuff about the combat mechanics, but those details seem really hard to find. Back on page 14, Seven Zettabytes talked about the combat shown in the 5-minute gameplay video if you’re interested. The post does not mention anything about the squadmates or really the story.
