Briefings.... Helmet.... Well, guess I missed something here. Not surprising but now when you guys start talking about goodlooking helmets I feel like I might be missing out. Is it still possible to get said helmet if I look at the next briefing? Or like a previous clever person did, start it and just let it keep running but leaving the computer. Otherwise, yay! Ignorance is working... lol I have managed to not be informed.
Bioware made an official site a while back where you can watch briefings that are basically designed so they feel like in-universe briefings. There are six in total but only four are out at the moment. When all six have been watched by someone logged into their account, said someone qualifies for a helmet. The briefings are, however, very spoilery so a number of people simply login and allow the briefing to play without sound and with the page minimized so they can still qualify for the helmet. With briefing four, we're talking squadmate level and higher spoilers. I would recommend doing this as well for those that are interested in obtaining the helmet but want to avoid spoilers. I think the longest one is about 5 minutes.

The helmet is not even worth it. Looks pretty generic to me. Nothing about it stands out to make me say, "Yeah, I HAVE to have this!"

The helmet is not even worth it. Looks pretty generic to me. Nothing about it stands out to make me say, "Yeah, I HAVE to have this!" Like I mentioned before, it is basically the classic Mass Effect helmet with some slight changes to its design and other colors. It is also called the Elite helmet so the similarities seems intentional. I'm interested in the helmet because I personally love the design and it is one of the helmets I usually wear. I probably would have gotten it even if I didn't because I like collecting free content and there's not much of hassle in getting it.

I have a hunch that the helmet designs in Mass Effect: Andromeda are going to be different and so this may be a nostalgia helmet of sorts. Basically, it was the default helmet in the Mass Effect trilogy whereas in Mass Effect: Andromeda, there'll be a different default helmet and this one won't be avaliable outside of this free content.

The embargo ends and spoilers will be flying all over the place from media who got 3 hours with the game. Who got to play 3 hours of the game? Media? IGN, some other gaming sites and a few YouTube gamers I think. Reddit, Twitter and here will have tons of info being revealed, and definitely Tumblr!

I think the review embargo lifts tomorrow. I don't know how much info can be released by reviews but I have a feeling the next couple of weeks are going to be tricky for those of us trying to avoid spoilers.

The game's opening, gameplay, the squad, CC, quests and lore, also Ian said the press played early and mid-game content. Be careful! My question is, why would Bioware even allow this? Why is Bioware so liberal when it comes to this stuff. I hate to start a CD Projekt vs Bioware discussion, but this type of stuff you didn't see with Witcher 3, nor did you see with Fallout 4 and other AAA RPGs. Yet Bioware is always at the spearhead when it comes to giving the media access to a bunch of content for their games. To me, it is as if Bioware/EA is not confident enough with selling MEA on it's current basis so they have to go deeper and show off more and more of the game in order to raise interest. In this case, they are open to spoiling the game only if it means that it will generate more pre-orders and thus more sales. Same thing applied to the marketing for Terminator Genesis. At this point, I can only imagine what the launch trailer would be like in terms of content shown.....

There are alot of fans complaining about the lack of story & character details (claiming this means that Bioware has no faith in the game) and a lot of fans who want to know as little of that as possible. I think the idea of allowing the press to see parts of it means that they can tailor what they show for audience. IGN have already said their preview is spoiler free, whereas another outlet might reveal some of the limited story they saw. IN this way Bioware hopes to satisfy both types of fans.

IGN have already said their preview is spoiler free, whereas another outlet might reveal some of the limited story they saw. IN this way Bioware hopes to satisfy both types of fans. This is the way I see it: 1) IGN may say it is spoiler free, but their idea of spoilers is subjective and maybe different for you or I. Unless they plan to ONLY talk about combat, customization, graphics, and sound....their preview is not spoiler free. The moment they talk about characters, locations, and early plot setups....their preview is no longer spoiler free. 2) The reason why fans complain about Bioware not showing enough is cause they are used to Bioware showing off a lot of plot and character details for their games before release. So with MEA they tried a different approach and fans werent used to this thus they complained. Note how fans never complained about CD Projekt, Bethesda, or Rockstar Games, not showing off any plot/character details because those companies have a reputation of never doing that in the first place. When they talk about their games, it is always in the realm of gameplay and options and VAGUE plot/character stuff. When Bioware talks about their games, it is always in the realm of locations, characters, and plot and VAGUE gameplay/customization stuff. If a child is used to his mother feeding him at the same time 3 times a day....that child is going to cause a fit if the mother now only feeds him 2 times a day and at random times. In short, Bioware fans have been conditioned to the "lets reveal everything" style of marketing from Bioware so when they tried something similar to other devs....fans had a gag reflex.

I get where you're coming from but light spoilers are generally used to advertise games. CD Projekt, for example, did reveal information about locations and general plot for the Witcher 3 & the two major expansions. Bioware may have traditionally shown more than that but not by much, DA:I was a complete oversaturation, but I don't remember the Mass Effect, DA2 or DA:O being particularly spoilery, character videos in ME2 were about the height of it. The amount of information people want about a game varies so much that it is difficult to get a balance, with both sides of the aisle saying it shows lack of confidence.

The amount of information people want about a game varies so much that it is difficult to get a balance, with both sides of the aisle saying it shows lack of confidence. This but this especially. I've seen a lot of people who feel developers are "hiding" something in the negative sense about a game if they don't show *enough of it and if reviewers aren't allowed to have a look at the game before release. This is not just with Bioware but with other companies as well.
I'm just going quote myself from earlier in the thread on why I'm happy Bioware has done information the way they have this time around because it may be the best way of satisfying people who want differing degrees of information:
I actually think they did it well this time around: they kept it vague for a time which allowed people to know about the premise of the game without being spoiled on much else beyond the presence of Milky Way races and the weaponry. Later, they began showcasing more of the game for those that wanted to know more and had differing degrees of spoiler acceptance. See it as a train of information. People like us can step off the train when we feel we’ve seen enough of the tour and others can decide when they’ll like to step off or if they’ll like to ride the tour for the rest of the duration. Some people want to know nothing, some people want to know little, some people want to know some, some people want to know lot and some people want to know just about everything.
Note: *said enough differing from person to person and which may be about different aspects of a game.

Muddy Boots said: "This is going to be so hard. There are things I really would like to see ahead of time, like CC. But then again, I can live without it. Not sure how to discuss ME:A at this point in the game without spoilers. Should be an interesting challenge. It's so HARD not to peek. Maybe I'll just check out the official gameplay trailers. I'm doing the initiative briefings, too, but those are minimal."
Ehhh, you might want to change your avatar to something not Andromeda-related because it is kind of exactly the sort of thing we're hiding from here and very much against the thread's rules.
That said, I am planning on doing a spoiler-free showcase of the character creator for the thread here. That is, of course, if it is avaliable during early access.

I'm not blaming Muddy Boots for that, the avatar is the most mild of spoilers, but fair warning to all, if that's the level of spoilers you want to avoid, you may as well switch off the internet now. Also, fair warning, we'll try to hold spoilers back, but they're out there with a heap more, 'soon'...

I've been speculating on that as well. I thought the fifth would be out alongside the 5-minute gameplay trailer but now I'm wondering if it'll even be out in February as oppose to the 1th March where system requirements are revealed. Of course, it may simply be dropped online unceremoniously. I keep logging on to the ME:A recruit site to check if a new one is available. I'm too afraid to venture into the twitter thread now that we're getting closer to release to see when the next briefing drops. I don't know why I want that helmet so much but I do. On a side note, I did get a chance to start up my third ME:3 playthrough this past weekend, hooray! This is my first attempt at a complete renegade run and I'm finding the Priority Tuchanka mission to be extremely difficult. I just love Wrex and Mordin too much, I...I just can't betray them! How it Tuchanka coming along? Betrayed our favorite salarian yet? I've only done that once, shot Padok Wiks but Wreav was the krogan leader in that PT. I just couldn't leave the galaxy with Wreav in charge. Was about to post a screenshot of my FemShep dealing with the situation but didn't want to spoil it for you in case you haven't seen it before.

I've just moved a post with specific character and voice artist information plopped into the thread. That's not how this thread works and I'm going to have a friendly word with the poster.
