Why they always release these things when I gotta be at work? Will run it on silent, invisible mode when I get home, then the helmet will be mine! Remember to cover the left side of the screen if you want to be sure to avoid seeing the alien. It's safe after you reach the video. I honestly and sincerely don't know why they decided to put it there: it does not appear at all in the video itself and it being shown does not fit with the videos as being pre-Andromeda arrival.
Thanks for the reminder but I already saw it. It kinda looked like
a female version of Javik, so I'm gonna go with that to avoid anything spoilery.

For those who watched the recent briefing, can you give any details about the size and scope of the planets we can visit? This is a big deal to me.

The briefing did not touch on the size and scope of the Golden Worlds: of geography, it focused primarily on enviroment with the possible function(s) of each world. It was about things such as the suitability of the climates, the presence of underground rivers, ocean levels and the degree of minerals expected and so on. That kind of thing though given what a number of these planets are intended for, it is likely that some of them would be of a significant size. We have seen one that was featured previously and definitely seems geared towards long-time exploration.

Cool In another post you said there was 7 planets shown. Are these 7 planets the only planets in the game? Or did the video hint at the possibility of more?

I believe it's been stated there are many more than just those in the game. I don't believe all of them can be landed on and explored. Edit: Quote from gameplay series: "There are over 100 planets to discover , and a handful of beautifully crafted worlds can be landed on." Spoilered just to be safe.

Cool In another post you said there was 7 planets shown. Are these 7 planets the only planets in the game? Or did the video hint at the possibility of more? I know that there are more planet, moons and such but whether or not these are playable is something that I do not know. There is an emphasis placed on the Golden Worlds because of how they are key elements of the colonisation process ine one way or another. I imagine that it would not be unlikely that we'd visit other planets that do not have the same marked importance.
The Golden Worlds are the most promising of the worlds found in the Helios Cluster. The Helios Cluster was specifically noted to have rich resources and seven promising Golden Worlds. It may be a mishoice of words but if not, it suggests that there are more rich recources to be found in the cluster outside of the Golden Worlds.
If I were to make a theory then I'd say the Golden Worlds would be a bit like Therum, Noveria and Ilos of the first Mass Effect. Basically, the Golden Worlds are worlds that are tied to the main story but there are still other planets that be explored.

We shall see. I remember Bioware put out all of the zones for DAI and asside from The Hinterlands and somewhat Crestwood, none of them were tied to the main story. Instead, the story areas had their own unique locations that were linear and could not be explored. I wonder if MEA will follow the same route of having the planets be soley for exploration and side quest while they have unique non-explorable locations as story/critical path locations.

Summoning Hrungr -- you may have already discussed this in the main ME twitter thread, but since I've been in the no-spoilers bunker for quite some time, I undoubtedly missed it. You've talked a bit about marketing of new games and roll-out strategies, favoring Bethesda's tight lid until 1 month before release. How would you score Bioware for MEA so far? I think they seem to have the lid on a little looser and also seem to have dumped a lot more gameplay on game journalists earlier than Bethesda did with FO4. Do you suppose that's to mitigate any fears people might have in buying the Part 2 of a franchise? Or maybe an adjustment for No Man's Sky tight lid that led to unfulfilled expectations? I mean, you have to try really hard not to be exposed to all sorts of reveals, and we're still 2+ weeks from launch. Is the flood of reveals mainly to set expectations at a more reasonable level? In other words, mostly defensive?

Looks like someone posted an MEA spoiler in the DA Twitter thread. I didn't read the whole thing but just caught a glimpse of what might be an Easter egg. Hope someone tells them to spoiler tag it, or they do on their own. I would, but that would involve going back to the thread. It's at the top of the last page, I think. Only 2 more weeks.

If you see a spoiler you'd like addressed, just tag/PM one of the mods like SofaJockey . In that particular instance though, a throwaway location probably doesn't constitute a spoiler by the board's rules. But definitely let one of the mods know if you see something you'd like tagged.

Oh no....now it has replies? Dang it....another thread off the read list. My "Participated" list is shrinking as I visit fewer and fewer threads.
At this rate I'm gonna have to keep the Origin Access going long enough to try MEA so I have something to do next week besides hide in a cave.

I was expecting they would ramp up the content reveals and media involvement in the home stretch. At this point, they want to be in your face, in every major gaming news site, every day (or as close to that as possible). And gently nudge people to finish up those Horizon & Zelda playthroughs... We have Pax this weekend, then Early Access in a little over a week, and then reviews, so I'm sure there were things they'd like to show now before the real deluge. But as you point out, marketing will adjust where they can to either try to address larger concerns, or (try to) turn people's attention to theseshinythingsoverhere!
Since they haven't tried this Bethesda-style of marketing before, I suspect this is also a kind of experiment for them (and maybe trying to improve on it). They're trying to figure out the sweet spot in pacing out content reveals so that the hype peaks at the just the right time, without going over and having people crash from hype fatigue. At the same time, while MEA is being released on more platforms, they're having to compete for media attention with 2 other games which they knew would be big, but then wound up being mega-hits. So, it's an interesting juggling act for the spotlight. I do appreciate that BioWare is still keeping certain things under wraps (so far) for us to discover in-game. Hopefully, they'll stick to their guns on this. I do think the gameplay reveals absolutely help manage people's expectations, especially since it was done late in development. And I'm so glad we didn't have a ton of vertical slices preceding this because you know it would have set all kinds of unrealistic expectations and probably gameplay that wouldn't have made the final cut. So setting aside how I feel about the content itself, I think the pacing of the content reveals so far has been... pretty good. It's not an unmanageable amount to get your head around (yet). That said, I wish they hadn't allowed the media to show off the very beginning of the game though. I'd rather they held off until Early Access had started. The final push is gonna be a bit more nebulous though. It is ramping up quite heavily and I think it's a safe bet we'll be buried under more content than we'll know what to do with in the last week & a half.

This is NOWHERE near a Bethesda Fallout 4 style marketing. With Fallout 4, it wasnt even announced until a month or so before E3 the year it was released. MEA (then ME4) was revealed at E3 2014 and MEA was officially revealed E3 2015. Also, Bioware has released so much information and content on MEA it is so different from when Bethesda had that one E3 info blowout and then went dark until release. And even the content they did release, it was mainly about combat and customization while Bioware has released 13 min video of the games intro and another 17 min video on a loyalty mission. Yet Bioware has not released anything regarding customization. In the end, this is no different from the old Bioware marketing approach which focuses on plot marketing as opposed to gameplay/customization marketing. The only difference this time is that they did it in smaller intervals compared to say....Mass Effect 2 where nearly every month something new was revealed.

I'm a little curious how the released content has been received so far. I miss reading all of the salty threads. Haha! I was thinking how part of me wants to see the reactions to what has been released but the other part of me thinks "Hmmm, better not, I kind of enjoy not hitting my head against my desk." I'm sure there will be plenty of salty threads to partake in. I am looking forward to picking up the Andromenerds podcast again. I listened to it up to N7 day since not much information was released prior to that date and there wasn't even much to speculate about. I found the podcast to be fun but I bailed out after N7 day just to avoid potential spoilers.

I know! I miss reading all the threads, I miss talking about companions with other people. I miss watching fun videos from the people I follow on twitter. It is going to be complete Mass Effect overload to just be able to do all the fun things again!! Ha ha, speaking of salty. I am still quite mad at Jacob for ME3, lol Now it's been a few years. I just did the mission with saving the scientist last night. Current FemShep was there with Garrus who she is romancing and I am still salty, ha ha. Before you go to fix the com-towers you run past the room where Jacob is and he calls out "Shepard, I'm in here" and my FemShep goes "Nope nope nope" and just head straight for the towers. Being dumped by Jacob was just so much worse than when Alistair or Fenris dumped my little avatars. Wonder what kind of trouble I will get into in Andromeda, really look forward to meeting the new crew. Considering how much I have enjoyed the romances with both Samantha Traynor and Cullen my favorite romance might very well be stationed on the ship. At least that leaves you free to bring any comp you wish to the current mission. If I am romancing one of the ones who comes with you I will drag them along to every single mission just to see if they get a extra romance-line.

I do appreciate that BioWare is still keeping certain things under wraps (so far) for us to discover in-game. Hopefully, they'll stick to their guns on this. (snip) That said, I wish they hadn't allowed the media to show off the very beginning of the game though. I'd rather they held off until Early Access had started. That's exactly what raised my concern. The whole starting segment? A whole stage of a companion side quest? Jeez, it's like those movie trailers that sum up the entire plot, including the twist ending. Why go see the movie, you know the whole story already? I like your notion, though, that they are experimenting to find a sweet spot. If the hypothesis is that Bethesda is too little, too late, and NMS is too much, too soon, where they are at is definitely in the middle. It's just too much for my taste. I way preferred the FO4 roll-out, but I guess I'm in the minority there. Thanks for your reply, always interesting and thought-provoking.

It is going to be complete Mass If I am romancing one of the ones who comes with you I will drag them along to every single mission just to see if they get a extra romance-line. Naturally. I love X character, so of course I'm going to drag them into every stressful, grimy, terrifying, life-threatening situation that I can. :dumb: That was something a bit freeing about non-squad/companion romances. Although I do miss just having them with me, it did help me drag somebody else along. And at least with Cullen/Steve I didn't feel like I was being cheated out of content either. Steve is even the shuttle pilot, so, you get him part-way on missions. Fortunately, I also often work really well with the squad/companion LIs of my choosing so having them with me is also just smart.

So, Target has Mass Effect:Andromeda Funko Pop figures for sale online. I haven't seen them in store yet, but was scrolling through the Target website and saw a figure. I don't know if it's online only and not in stores yet, but just wanted to give a heads up.
