Jupp AllyCatAttack, nowhere is safe anymore. This is when I say bye-bye It was one thing with the first 13 min but when achievemets are out as well you risk some serious spoilers. I opened my twitter and one of the first posts was "This is my fave trophy in ME:A", luckily I closed it STAT so I didn't have time to read it. Well, I've been camping here for so many months so I don't want to risk it with coming to the forums any more. Don't even dare to hang out in the DA:I-part. It's only one week left for me with early access in Origins. Removing my twitter-app as well, otherwise I won't make it. It's only a few days left, we can do it! It has been a blast and thank you for the company. See you Andromeda

I'm anxious about seeing that because usually the hidden trophies are included as well and that's what I'm fearful of seeing. It was really weird seeing the Funko Pop toy as well. I have seen several character and enemy types from the previews but I would be upset if I had been avoiding seeing any characters. SilentK and majesticjazz I wish you both the best of luck over the next few days. It's been a pleasure talking with you both about our levels of hype, previous playthroughs and characters as we wait for release. See you in Andromeda!

Only 1 more week until early access. I decided I'll pay for the first month so I can find out early whether the game will run on my system. I pre-ordered the game guide, art book, and first paperback tie-in from Amazon. Discounted from Bioware store pricing and I had a credit to apply so....yay me!

Not that now isn't a good time to go into seclusion.

Speaking of the novel, is it a prequel novel or not? I have been seeing conflicting descriptions. Some say it is a true prequel novel that explains the events leading up to the beginning of MEA. Others say it is not a true prequel but rather a novel that has a plot that runs parallel to the game plot, which means it may feature some MEA plot spoilers. So which is it? Example: This image It mentions that this novel is the official PREQUEL to MEA. However the product description says this: "Titan Books will work closely with acclaimed video game developer BioWare to publish three brand new novels set in the universe of MASS EFFECT(TM): ANDROMEDA. The action will weave directly into the new game, chronicling storylines developed in close collaboration with the BioWare game team. The action takes place concurrently with the adventure of the game itself, setting up the story and events of the game adding depth and detail to the canonical MASS EFFECT saga." Prequel and concurrently are not the same thing. One takes place BEFORE and the other takes playing DURING. So again, which is it?

As I understand it, the book focuses on the lead up to the revolt that leads to the split in the A.I. and some of the resulting consequences. This means that the book starts before the human ark arrives but ends soon after they arrived. In game the Ryders will see some of the consequences of that event and will get some background. but the book provides greater detail and will introduce us to characters that we probably won't meet until we're a few hours in the game.

As I understand it, the [deleted] This means that the book starts before the human ark arrives but ends soon after they arrived. In game the Ryders will see some of the consequences of that uprising, for example, people not trusting the A.I., certain groups of settlements and will get some background. but the book provides greater detail and will introduce us to characters that we probably won't meet until we're a few hours in the game. Thanks for the reply but I highlighed a part that I believe was too much information given. Not really a spoiler, but that is plot info that I and I am sure many other in this thread was in the dark about and for good reason. Just remember to be careful about what you mention in this thread regarding plot elements because a lot of us has literally been living under a rock the past few months by choice and plot info that may appear to be throw away details to you may be big reveals for others as this is my first time hearing about the details you just mentioned and I am sure others here may rather only learn that by playing the game (or reading the novel). Just remember to be as vague as possible with talking about about plot/locations/character stuff. Another way to say it could have been, "book focuses on the lead up to a certain event(s) and the resulting consequences which will be experienced by the protagonist early in the game." That way it answers my question while still leaving people in the dark as to what actually happens which is the whole purpose of this thread.....to remain in the dark and under a rock. As for the reply itself, if that is the case, then I believe it is safe enough for me to read. I do believe the other 2 novels coming out this year will 100% run concurrently with MEA, meaning that it would probably be better to play the game first then read them. But as far as Nexus Uprising goes, I believe Bioware could have been more clear about this one. Also I find it odd that this novel will release on the same day as the game. Mass Effect Revelation came out months before ME1 and Mass Effect Ascension came out months before ME2 and even Mass Effect Retribution/Deception came out months before ME3 as they were all prequel novels. You would think from a hype/marketing perspective you would want to release this novel at least a few weeks before MEA's launch so that you can tease everyone which increases hype. However, releasing this novel the same day as the game, many people will just forgo the novel and go straight into the game.

However, releasing this novel the same day as the game, many people will just forgo the novel and go straight into the game. I apologise, I've edited my comment for spoilers. I thought that much would be ok to refer to since that aspect of the game has been referred to since some of the very early marketing and promotion for the game, so I thought people might have got that before going dark, like the name of the protagonists. As for the release day of the book, I think this book will have more of a connection to the plot than other Mass Effect books. While I’m sure the spoilers will be light, it will definitely contain characters, plot threads & locations that will appear in the game. BioWare has really wanted to control information about characters & plot for ME:A so they might have been worried that even the light spoilers in this book would ruin things for people. I think you are correct about the other two books, they seem to be focused on events that occurred during the ME:A although that doesn’t necessary mean they’ll be full of spoilers. The Magekiller comics ran parallel to the DA:I story and isn’t too spoilery (with the exception of maybe the end). Although it was released months after the game.

Yeah, the whole marketing of this book seemed off. I remember back in 2007, the Revelation novel was a big deal. First, it was written by Drew Karph which was also the lead writer for the game and second, it was our first exposure to the Mass Effect universe beyond trailers, interviews, screenshots, and gameplay videos. Even Ascension before ME2 was a big deal within the ME community. With Nexus Uprising, it just seems like a passing thought. I will read it, I just hope the quality is there.

Haha! I was thinking how part of me wants to see the reactions to what has been released but the other part of me thinks "Hmmm, better not, I kind of enjoy not hitting my head against my desk." I'm sure there will be plenty of salty threads to partake in. I am looking forward to picking up the Andromenerds podcast again. I listened to it up to N7 day since not much information was released prior to that date and there wasn't even much to speculate about. I found the podcast to be fun but I bailed out after N7 day just to avoid potential spoilers. Oh, yes, the salt will probably intensify once the game is out. Can't wait. Isn't Andromenerds the podcast on Biofan's YouTube channel? Wonder what kind of trouble I will get into in Andromeda, really look forward to meeting the new crew. Considering how much I have enjoyed the romances with both Samantha Traynor and Cullen my favorite romance might very well be stationed on the ship. At least that leaves you free to bring any comp you wish to the current mission. If I am romancing one of the ones who comes with you I will drag them along to every single mission just to see if they get a extra romance-line. It'll be interesting to find out how the romances have been divided this time. Will there be three non-companion romances again or will there be more/less? Will there be exclusively gay characters? (It seems unlikely to me that there won't be.) Will they be race-gated? I think it would be most interesting to romance the Andromedan races, if possible. I imagine that there will be a lot more insight into their cultures and societies, and that they will have more to say when you bring them along. It's less likely that we'll be able to see anything of the homeworlds of the Milky Way races, though perhaps they will have tried very hard to preserve their cultures now that they're moving to Andromeda, so there could be more interesting things to see than I'm expecting. If nothing in the game itself, I hope that there will be 'World of Thedas' version of Mass Effect at some point. Anyway, it was entertaining to read your posts in this thread. Have fun with your playthrough next week!

I thought it was a fun group and they had some pretty good discussions, but I bailed after N7 day because I was worried about them discussing Andromeda speculations, which is something I'm always worried about. I have a few friends at PAX East this weekend and are hoping to get to play the ME:A multiplayer demo. I think there's a few twitch steams that will be played today and tomorrow and then the lunch trailer debuts today, so it's going to be an interesting 11 days!

I just realized I typed "lunch trailer" instead of launch trailer, and yes, I could edit it, but I think I like lunch trailer better. Mass Effect:Andouille, Mass Effect:Ancho-Chile, Mass Effect:Antipasta.

And when you say cinematic trailer, do you mean it is blur style/in-engine trailer? Or a legit trailer with real ingame scenes? Not that I care to watch it which I wont, but just curious.

I'm not watching it either (probably), but this is the trailer BioWare published on their YouTube channel today: I would guess it's full of scenes found in the game.

The cinematic trailer is up and it's full of spoliers. Watch out! I'm officially going dark. See you all on the other side of launch! m.popkey.co/86083a/XglRl.gif

The cinematic trailer is up and it's full of spoliers. Watch out! I'm officially going dark. See you all on the other side of launch! Is this the launch trailer? And when you say cinematic trailer, do you mean it is blur style/in-engine trailer? Or a legit trailer with real ingame scenes? Not that I care to watch it which I wont, but just curious. The cinematic and launch trailer are the same thing. I haven't watched it and am still on the fence about if I will, but typically, these are the trailers you'll see on TV that are mostly cut scenes vs. in game footage. It's mainly a pre-launch push for those that are not even aware of this game, to go out and buy it.

Well, I've just been billed by Origin for my preorder, so we're definitely on the home stretch.
