I am of course referring to the Alec Ryder memories, I became suspicious after the first memory, but it was not until the memory where they're all together and mom Ryder was dying, that's when my suspicion solidified, how long dd it take you to say "oh yeah, I know the big reveal already."

I was expecting a far different outcome. Mostly regarding SAM. I didn't see the Ellen in cryo coming.

The trend of family members dying in video games threw me off, so I was pleasantly surprised to be honest. I expected Scott to die too at the end *shrug*

I was expecting to see either the sibling or dad as an exalted enemy. What we got was a surprise and better than my expectations.
However, the twist is brought down by inconsistencies... Kid Ryder is certain that mom is dead, so how exactly did Alec go about hiding her? Was there no funeral or memorial? Did she consent to have her two children being lied to and subjected to a terrible heartbreak? Or did she just slip into coma and Alec stowed her away without her knowing it? Did he just lie to his children, telling that their mom is dead and watched them mourn her? Stone cold.

Oh, I'm sure an N7 working with the mysterious benefactor would not have much problem pulling off a funeral ruse.

Probably, if the devs even really thought about it. I guess there just aren't funerary customs anymore in the world of Mass Effect. Alec got none, and apparently either there was nothing for Ellen either, or else some grotesque fake funeral with empty coffin and all - which should earn a proper response after the truth comes out if such a thing happened. ME3 had memorials for Thane and Ashley's brother-in-law, so I kept waiting that we'd hold one for dad once Sara woke up, during the game. If these plot threads were constructed better, the twist would also feel a lot better. Now it's hard not to be left with several questions.

I honestly still have my doubts that Alec is dead. We never see a body. I can't go by Scott/Sara because they just seem not to really care and do believe he's dead. Still, though, no body and no memorial seems very suspicious.

Or did she just slip into coma and Alec stowed her away without her knowing it? Did he just lie to his children, telling that their mom is dead and watched them mourn her? Stone cold. This I think. She wanted Alec to let go so would not have agreed to cryo. Alec most likely then lied to his kids (probably something about cremation) then just watched as they grieved.

I thought the reveal might have been that Ellen was part of SAM. That did cross my mind, but as much as I like SAM, that idea mad me very uncomfortable, an AI is designed to be what it is, we humans very much rely on our bodies for experiencing the world, oh and not to mention, your mom will know your every thought and feeling through the implant, I know I don't want my mom present when I'm in the airlock with Peebee.

Oh, I wouldn't want that either. We know Liam and Sara are okay with SAM watching though Cora and Scott are not. Still, it seemed like it might be where they were going. Glad it turned out the way it did.

Well, now I am going to think of SAM being there with me for every LI scene. Squick I thought of this way before I even started my romance. I've headcanoned conversations with SAM about it. But I did like that we could have a sort-of conversation about romantic attachments where Ryder can say what it means to them. Well, now I am going to think of SAM being there with me for every LI scene. Squick I know SAM disables logs when you're with Cora, that didn't come up with Peebee, so I assume SAM continues logging, don't know about the rest. Aw I wish I had seen this in my romance. How does it come up? I'll just assume that SAM does it for everyone, but that Cora gets a mention because her romance scene got a lot of attention overall.

Ryder reminds Cora they're not alone, Cora request SAM to deactivate logging, which he supposedly does, but need to remember, SAM is sentient, aware, you can't just shut off memeories, I don't know how it goes for the rest of the LI, there is no scene with Suvi, so not an issue, nothing is mentioned with Peebee as I said, I don't know about the rest, Gil's not my type, while I like Vetra, I'd be afraid of the chafing from her plates

Lexi asks Ryder how she and Jaal had sex, and you have the option to share SAM's logs... for science, of course.

For Ellen, Alec could easily have said she was cremated, or whatnot. We know he lied, so it's easy enough to invent some details for him. I don't think the lack of an in-game reference affects the viability of the ruse at all. Alec's not getting a funeral is a reasonable point. These are the same people who didn't even give Thane a second thought, let alone a funeral. The idea probably didn't occur to them. If it did, they must've decided that it would be a drag so early in the game. As to anyone thinking that he is still alive, there's no way. Cora, Liam, Dr. Carlyle and Hayes are present, bare minimum, when Ryder is picked up. (Fischer and Greer are definitely present for the ride back to the Nexus.) Alec was right next to his child. If asked, they specify exactly how he died-- saving his child. There is no ambiguity simply because they don't show a corpse. What a macabre, unnecessary scene that would be.

I didn't see the mom in cryo thing. What I like to know is was there a funeral? I guess not. Or if I'm wrong, can Bioware fill in the blanks? Why didn't the kids stay by her side until the end? Or is this another one of those "the plot demanded it" thing?
Or like how the kid can't ask to see dad's body. The plot didn't demand that the kid sees or ask about the body. Or when the kid asks Carlye how dad died. Like a hero. Really? Is that some new disease I never heard about? How hard would it have been to say he died because of a lack of oxygen or the air was toxic. Hmmm. Bioware has never been very good at character deaths. Just look at ME3
