Using Cryo or Incendiary ammo on the Scorpion and Naladen removes their AOE.
Interestingly enough, Disruptor ammo does not cause this. Also, the Falcon and Venom both keep their AOE with Cryo and Incendiary ammo.
Kudos to Siritron for testing

I sometimes wonder if actual developers where involved in this project or if this is one big experiment with random code generators. The amount of weird, whimsical and nonsensical bug is just mind blowing.

I thought as much while trying to complete the Scorpion challenge, that it's AOE not always worked properly. Using ammo types as the possible culprit seems likely. Thanks!

I can understand bugs when stuff doesn't work properly, or one thing doesn't interact properly with another. But things that outright do not work? That's what automated test cases are for, right?

Thanks for the good information! It really boggles the mind how much random little stuff just doesn't work properly. And Incendiary ammo makes a lot of sense to put on the Scorpion to spread some AOE fires so it's a real shame it's bugged! Biower, pls... Some other stuff I like to imagine that doesn't work considering the flimsy code: - headshot bonuses from Targeting VI aren't applied when Mercury is in retrograde - Tactical cloak duration bonus is bugged on Chinese stock market drop - El Nino events hinder Rage health regen bonuses

I'm now getting more entertainment out of the bug testing the community is doing than the game itself.

I'm not even mad anymore - it's just outright funny at this point. It's amazing how fucked up their spaghetti code is (read: how incompetent they are). Maybe they should outsource to Blizzard in the future... :amirite:

I red it here somewhere some time that cryo and incendiary ammos are primers and disrupter ammo is a detonator somehow.
Maybe thats the "logic" behind it?

The amount of weird, whimsical and nonsensical bug is just mind blowing. ME3 had a lot of strange bugs as well but yeah there does seem to be a lot more completely random bugs this time. I remember at the start of ME3 you would get negative recoil if you went over 100% stability on turians, your aim would actually go down when you shot lol

And the best part was that their internal testing was so good they didn't even need an open beta before release. Yes, this demonstrates how clueless and incompotent the multiplayer dev team really is when they think they don't need more testing for what turned out to be an utterly broken mess.
Truthfully though, they cancelled the beta to avoid a mass cancellation of preorders.

Any time Mgamerz explained how fudged up the code was in ME3MP, I got the impression the whole game was held together with shoestrings, bubblegum, and Quarian elbow grease and that we were lucky anything worked, so really the MEAMP coders are just following tradition.

Making a full AAA game in 22 months will do that. EA fucked it up for everybody, and as we can see the repercussions are still being felt. Pretty sure Walters still would have fucked up the ending though, since he was determined to do it himself for whatever fucking reason.

Does it simply not not damage, but still has the AoE effect, or does it remove the AoE all together?
