I been wanting to do a melee build but I don't what gun to use as a backup or to start off as a vanguard or infiltrator. Any advice? I'd personally start with vanguard. Given that you'll be fighting in large open maps the majority of the time being able to instantly close the distance is something you'll want early on. As far as a backup weapon it's largely personal preference I think, just make sure you do have something that can deal with things from medium to long range. Otherwise you'll be SOL in an architect fight. In my current vanguard/melee playthrough I'm using the Reegar and the Hornet. The Hornet is light but stable enough to use at medium ranges and hits hard enough for the occasions I need to switch to it.

I would go with the melee option because I know from experience after trying out melee in this game. Melee is freakin good in this game, also worth noting melee builds are probably one of the better types of builds damage wise. It even gives the turbocharge, tactical cloak + invaision build a run for it's money. I don't wanna shamelessly plug in my videos but I know melee is THAT good in this game after making several melee builds, unless people wanna watch my builds. Share your vids. Thx

Forgot to mention the elemental jump melee augments are really good. It's possible to make really good elemental jump melee centric builds because I'm 99% sure they benefit from elemental tech that allows you to do more shock, cryo or heat damage when affected by a tech power. Do these elemental jump melee augments prime or detonate? and what to pick between cryo heat or shock?

They're primers and not a very reliable source of priming I should add even with the priming passive in the tech tree. This is one of the melee builds I made. It's even better now with the recent patch with enemies having less damage output and health values. As far as what to pick just don't try to mix cryo and fire because cryo overrides the fire priming effect and vice versa. Aside from that it doesn't matter too much you use cryo you'll prime enemies for cryo combo, and same with the other legs. I'm 99% sure one isn't better than other besides their respective element and priming for a combo based on their element.

I used sniper build, mostly. With a 10x Black Widow, Maverick armor, some kinetic foils...a lot of fights were just a matter of lining up 8-10 shots from a distance, then walking into an empty fort/hideout/whatever. I used trip mine, singularity, and throw just as backups mostly, in case an annoiinted or destined decided to advance too close.
It really just depends on how you like to play.

Hi Beaver how many headshots with your widow to drop an Anointed? My Bio-Converted Isharay may be highly flawed now due to the 8 second cooldown nerf on Life Support in patch 1.06

Hi Beaver how many headshots with your widow to drop an Anointed? My Bio-Converted Isharay may be highly flawed now due to the 8 second cooldown nerf on Life Support in patch 1.06 I played hardcore, not insanity, and it took 3-6. More, the farther above lvl 80 i got, i think. At least it felt like it. I took every option for clip size in the skill set, which gave me 5-shot clips, and 50+ total. Crafted BW, was either 4-5 slots, one special headshot augment and the rest coils, IIRC. If you take out the chosen with headshots, you can usually drop most of them before they seem to even notice, so even when annointed and destined react, you only have about 3 to deal with by then.

(Its a relatively old topic, sorry, but wanted to share, if somebody had an idea like me. )So i had an idea of Tactical Cloak+Anihilation and Charge melee Build(focus on melee damage). And Anihilation, i thought, was perfect for the build(those defense reductions) and then i tried and realized that Tactical Cloak and Anihilation are mutualy exclusive. But theen i ran into a mod page with some biotic tweaks on the nexus(the very name of the page) and asked if it would be possible to make them both work AND POOOF. The Guy answered me in an hour and uploaded a reparate file for this change. And it WORKS. There are some other nice changes as well. Link ( )

I thought Infiltrator was really fun in this game. It's always been my favorite class to play, so I'm probably biased, but in this game sniping was really satisfying (especially once I got the Isharay + heat sink) and the cloak was much better than in previous games. I'm glad I played it that way first. I think that if you are playing Insanity you will probably want the cloak, regardless of your class?
