Things I'd like to see...Bain Massani in a future DLC or next game as a crew mate and LI.
This is sort of a cross post to one I made in another section of this board, but it fits in this section better I think. Zaeed Massani was a great grumpy space-grandpa. His son has a lot of the qualities that Reyes would have, cynical, smooth, but unlike Reyes, he's not tied to a planet to run it from the shadows. Hells, Bain even started off his quest with calling Ryder by a nickname that got Ryder all feisty.
The thing with the shipmate LI's is like Ryder, they are pretty Micky Mouse Club enthusiasm. A lot of the draw for those loving the Reyes romance is he's slick and smooth and cynical. The bad-boy. But you just can't get a lot of time in with him as you do with a crew mate.
ME2 introduced new crew, I'd love ME:A2 to pull Bain off of Eos and to the Tempest.
(and in that event would love someone at Nexus Mods to make a hair mod for Bain. I'm just not into the shaved head look m'self.)

I wouldn't mind seeing Bain come back in some form. He certainly leaves an impression, and I would like to see something beyond a one-off cameo. He would just need some refined details in aesthetics.

the title of the next ME game will be Mass Effect: The Return of Little Duck. Bain Massani will become a squadmate. Liam will be sent to Eos to do whatever. If romancing anyone, the LI will call Ryder Little Duck. The game will be an instant hit selling millions in the first week.

Eh, I think Bain could be a good character either s a squadmate or as a reorcurring character. I do see your concern though but I think that since he wasn't raised by Zaeed, Bain could easily be his own character who merely shares a last name with Zaeed. He wasn't raised by him and as I recall, he didn't really know him nor even be interested in knowing him. Unless the writers try to define him by his father either by focusing on similarities or dissimilarities, he can easily be his own person. He already seemed a bit so. Granted, he didn't make much screen time and was a bit character so that's hard to tell. “My mom died when I was a kid. Never met my father. Heard he was a big-time merc. All I know is he gave me his name and nothing else.” |

I've generally not been very interested in the human characters but I would definitely not be opposed to Bain becoming a reoccuring character like, say, Reyes. He may not be a squadmate but he has a reoccuring presence throughout a storyline. He could work as a squadmate since he has no affiliations but at the same time is implied to have a sense of morality. I just prefer him as reocurring NPC or temporary squadmate because I'd prefer that they don't bloat the cast like they did in e latter games of the trilogy: if they rotate individual squadmates out and in from game to game then that's fine. I actually like his appearance very much: the bald head, the beard, the bodysuit. I enjoyed that little interaction with Bain. One of my favorite things about him was that he seemed to have some grit to him without being an a-hole at the same time. He was a pretty cool guy.
Looks-wise, I thought he was interesting. Bald suits him. Fantastic voice, too.
I'm totally up for seeing him come back for MEA2 in some capacity. How awesome would it be if he were our human male squaddie?

That was something I really liked as well: he had that loner bit and mercenary thing going but he was a calm sort of affably that made him dodge the usual cliches of the aforementioned bit and thing. |

I loved the little duck nickname but I was the people who really did not care for James' Lola nickname so I'd support such an option for players that'd be interested in it. it also doubles as a nice roleplaying option. I didn't like James' nickname because it felt like he was renaming my character especially since he says he nicknames because some people don't match their names. Also, there is a feminine version of loco: it's loca. |

Yeah, he's definitely attractive as is. I think he'd look odd with hair, tbh, due to his face shape. His design is simple but with max impact if you ask me. And I agree with you Shechinah, I don't think we'd need to worry about Bain not being his own character. From what little interaction we've had with him, he's already distinct from other characters we've met before. |
