What to show is a marketing decision.
You'd look derpy too, fired in an escape pod, but that look can be endearing if you've formed a relationship with the character.
But we haven't yet.
Shepard derp was more tolerable because we knew Shepard:
Also problematic is editing the dialogue sequences which would have included spoilers for sure, but heck, there will be plenty of spoilers out there in 14 days.
Contrary to the views of some, I think the marketing has been largely fine so far.
But the IGN edit has been the least helpful marketing addition in my view (because it didn't add anything to the CES trailer other than 'more', but raised questions).
The best piece of marketing in my view has been the Gameplay Series #1: Combat.

It my case, it will help me to decide if I want to buy the game on PC or if it doesn't work propertly on my laptop, to preorder it in PS4 Shame you can't do it on both PC and PS4. So you'd have both versions to compare. But again, I think there's been enough bashing of Sony already Money    |

This is The Doctor Who cycle all over again: "I hate it! The predecessor was much better" DA2 was injustly hated in the moment. Everyone reminded DAO was way better and DA2 was simply a bad product. Then DAI is released and people like it. But what happened after a year with DAI? DA2 started to be praised, and people start to use it against DAI, which was "a bad product". ME3? The majority of people agreed it was pretty good except the ending. Then a year later, the hateful trend started, how ME3 was garbage, its predecessors were much better, etc. etc. etc. Now? It's starting all over again. I'm start to see people saying "at least DAI was better at X" "DAI is not as bad as people gave credit for" but that's not all of it. I'm starting to read ME3 had better animations, the plot is presumably better than Andromeda, etc etc etc This is a cycle Reaper's style. We hate the new things we see because we want it to be like the older games. At the same time we hate the old things coming back telling "they are uninspired" "and a copy". We hate and we idealized the past. Then this game will be the part of the past and people will start to see through the "nostalgia-glasses" how the game wasn't as bad as it was painted, or even it was pretty good. But that will no matter anymore because Bioware would be ultimately destroyed by its own fans and we won't be able to say it was EA's fault. In other words, the only way to "save" the franchise is to indoctrinate the fans and harvest them into a super reaper fan? I like your thinking!   |

So, let me get this straight: They let you guys play on the 16th for 10 hours and then you'll have to wait for the 21st like everyone else to continue? MAN! They are ripping you off SO hard! That's evil... Surely somebody already pointed this out, but... If you pay for EA Access for one month, you get 10% discount on the full game. So... the game is a bit cheaper and you get to play earlier (albeit, just 10 hours). Dunno, I'd do it just to save myself like 2 dollars, haha. The captioning on the squad (it talks about "all six") suggests that any unannounced squad members will be very temporary or arrive very late in the game. Yup. At most some very late "twist" like Peebee turning into a Reaper or The Archon joining the squadI'm glad to see I'm not the only one thinking in that possibility...  |

I think there is a need to follow dalinne 's advice and re-open the 'ugly thread'. - I've seen more separate 'ugly discussions' pop up here and on the general forum, and frankly, we only have so much space on the page.
- It's a legitimate view, so long as the conversation doesn't turn 'ugly' (moderation still applies!)
- It's a useful place to refer posters who want to have the 'ugly' debate, rather than inside specific character threads.

Well at least there is a tweet about m/m romance now ^^ It's not much, but something. If we are going to analyze the tweet.. I think it's likely someone you meet quite quickly. He started new Ryder and then this guy said hi before he could think of other options. That's how I'm reading it. So someone who is with us quite at the start. Likely human then, not someone who is recruited later on the game. Gil perhaps? Can be Gil or a squadmate. Either way is pretty clear you meet him pretty fast. And I seriously doubt that would be the only option. |
