Rosymorn Monastery So pretty So stupid But I want her oracular. So painful Curiously this time I was able to suss the zaith'isk was a fraud after just one session for Lae'zel, so she only lost 1pt of Int before breaking it. Last time I was here it took 3 stat points and I had to use all the tadpoles in the labs to cure her. So gullible Thanks for the egg and the boots chump. So dead I made a bit of a mistake here. On my way past the two gith near the doors I dropped a couple of smokepowder barrels. As soon as things kicked off I Scorching Ray'd them both. But I'd miscalculated the blast radius and got caught up in it. They were both dead, but I was downed. Fortunately Lae'zel and Karlach were able to beat this chump into bits before he got an action. So many lies Got Lae'zel to go along with my dissembling. So many more lies I don't remember this scene from the last time I was here, but not sure how I could have missed it. Still, I let the Visitor get away with it even though her pants were on fire. Somehow got Lae'zel to approve of my actions. So epic One of these days I'll have to see what happens if I don't use the Crest to disarm the Solar Lance. Pity I can't activate it after I've left to collapse the place. So that's done. Grymforge next.

Oof... I see they hit the Chest of the Mundane with a weighty nerf stick. Really disappointing. It was much better when it was effectively a bag of holding. Smokepowder barrels for miles.

Didn't do much today. Went out to traverse the Mountain Pass and cam e across the Githyanki. I understand some people have a fight here, but every time I've done it I've let Lae'zel do the talking and Persuaded her not to give the game away. Still, cool visual. After which I clicked on the Mountain Pass and was instantly transported back to camp so that Dream Visitor could tell me to use the tadpoles. I obviously hadn't rested enough earlier, so it forced the scene on me before the revelations at the Monastery. After which I ate a tadpole and Persuaded Lae'zel and Karlach to do the same. Astarion needed no Persuading.

I think it's also the tactical roots of the game. Seeing everything from the overhead view as part of the tactical landscape.
When you use that mod can you still zoom out to the overhead view?

Killed off the last of the goblins. The last one alive got to the drums and started beating them for help - which never came. Then it's back to the grove for tea and crumpets. And hearing Halsin berate Kagha and hearing her grovel. Then it's party time followed by an intimate talk. Just talking but very intimate. Followed by a chat with Volo, who had a plan. And then lost it and used a freaking ICE PICK

BOOOAL! Doing the Goblin Camp/Ruined Temple at 5th level is a bit of a breeze, but I got help anyway. That's the first time through all of EA and release that I've actually talked to Gut and Dror Ragzlin. Gut was boring and I managed to put her off. Got the brand though which may be a mistake. DR was tougher and wouldn't be brushed off, so I had to kill him. And then everybody else. Knocked out Minthara though. Then Gut wouldn't talk to me as I was her killer. So I had to resort to the hat. Who's hat? Fane's hat.

But it's in addition to the metal swinging. Unless I'm missing something - easily possible - you can use the same Bonus Action you'd use for chucking for a melee attack.

So, there were a whole bunch of annoying mushrooms in the way, and I decided it would be easiest to just have Gale blow them up. You blew up the Noblestalk as well. Not a vital herb, but I like giving it to Shadowheart for her memory.

Just looking through my achievements. How is it that only 8.8% of players have "Kill Two Birds with One Gnome"? It's a bonus action which can do damage to two enemies. I've got Karlach using this all the time, I've generally found it more effective to just hit things with large pieces of metal. I've never used Improvised Weapon, never mind using another creature to do so.

Underdark spoilers Spooky Then scary I'm only level 4 - it took down 2 of the party. Stupid He died. Quickly. I mean, Karlach and Lae'zel just took out the Spectator you couldn't handle, what did you think would happen? Visionary I haven't looked in the memory crystal before. Nice! And now I'm level 5 and have decide whether to go to the Arcane Tower or the Goblin Camp next. The latter shouldn't be very hard at 5th level though.

The camera system though... needs help. That was my biggest gripe with the game. And this game still has a ton of bugs to iron out. Having played a little of Act I again, I think they've actually introduced new bugs. I think some of the new bugs come from all the performance optimisation they did to get Ch3 not to stutter too much. What did you dislike about the camera system? For me it was not being able to change the verticality at times, especially for the Fireworks shop if you were fighting at different levels.

"I talk to dead people" "How often?" "All the time" Maybe someone should have had a bath before trying to usurp a Grove? Probably the main reason Kahga sided with me over them was the smell. She looks like the sort that would be obsessive about cleanliness, at least in others. The Descent Possibly my favourite way into the Underdark. Of course I had killed all the Zhents by that time, but not before giving them the unopened chest. That meant the trader had good gear to drop when he died. +1 Chain at 4th level? Lae'zel says thanks, or would if she was the kind of gal to say thanks about anything. Why did I give him that? Now he's listening to the voices. Nothing good can come of this.

Clearing up a bunch of miscellaneous Act 1 stuff. Turns out that attacking Lunk strictly from upstairs isn't nearly as clever as I thought it was. You have to have a stealthy person do that. Rogue or Gloomstalker probably. Do it solo with a bow and you can take out all three of them without getting attacked at all. I had Astarion do it yesterday.

The addition of the Summon Allies feature took me right back to the days of DA: Origins. Only with a lot more options. As this was my first time using the feature, I'm sure I didn't use them anywhere near as effectively as I could have Pretty sure my use of allies was poor. And some (most?) of the allies seemed pretty useless. In the courtyard I used the Harpers, but their piddly arrows did almost nothing whilst the party slaughtered everything without really trying that hard. I suspect I should have used Voss's dragon on some of the nicely clumped enemies. On the stairs I didn't use anybody. It was better to use my actions destroying enemies or moving than it was to summon someone. At the end Rolan was very useful in helping against the dragon and the Emperor, but chonky Owlbear did very little. Aylin might have been better, if only as a damage soak.

Saw that. I'm unsurprised. Larian doesn't really do expansions/big DLC. Plus you're already at 12th level which is about as high as D&D can go without breaking things if you don't have an adaptive DM.
I think Swen Vinke really wants to move on. He's already designing the next game, although they're probably still a long way from real coding/animating/writing.

If I recall correctly, if you have Gale with you and choose certain dialogue options neither actually turns into a mind flayer. Really? I'll have to look that up. I had Gale in my party and he said nothing. EDIT: Found this - lots of spoilers for this endgame path One - Get the Orphic Hammer
Two - Take Lae'zel and Gale with you when you go to meet the Netherbrain in the sewers
Three - The next time you meet with the Emperor in the Astral Prism, make sure Gale mentions the Netherese orb (the idea will be shot down)
Four - Tell the Emperor that you'll turn into an illithid yourself until he gives you some super tadpole he's been saving for you; but tell him you'll use it later.
Five - Lae'zel will say something and give you one last chance to back out of the Emperor's plan; Back out and then he'll go running off
Six - Break Orpheus out of the bindings, and when he talks about someone needing to be an Illithid, tell him that you'll turn yourself into one if it comes to that. (This option only appears if you got the tadpole from the emperor)
Seven - Go through the ending sequence, and let Gale go use the Netherese Orb (It's about the best ending you can get for Gale, since the orb never gets shut down)

Voss took Orpheus' makeover in stride. (Though honestly, anything was an improvement over that beard.) I think any time I'm not romancing Lae'zel I'll do this. It's a bit shit, but the alternatives are worse IMO. Unless I really embrace the tadpole, but I can't see that happening at the moment.

Killed lots of Gnolls today, then went to the cave with the Flind and its cutscene didn't fire. Died. Reloaded. Second time it did fire and got the Flind to kill both Rugen and then help with the rest of its pack and then killed it for good measure. For the first time ever I haven't opened the chest.
Earlier I disturbed the lovers in the barn. Astarion approved, Karlach didn't. Even earlier I found the Necromancy of Thay and gave it to Astarion instead of reading the first page as I normally do to get the intrinsic Speak to the Dead.

Took on the Spider Matriarch at level 3, which was ambitious for me at this slightly elevated difficulty level. Died first time around. It was getting very sticky with two characters down, and then a series of critical misses just sealed the deal. Did better/luckier the second time around.

Are you going to be blowing people off of cliffs a lot? Or will you go another route and keep the loot? Blowing people off cliffs is the main point of Eldritch Blast IMO. Just blew a Hexed goblin off a roof. Bastard lived.

I was not prepared for the song. (Well... it definitely changed the mood of the battle.)Just met Raphael for the first time in the new PT. The music plays softly in the background when he teleports you to the House of Hope and offers you a feast.

That's not a build I'm familiar with . How does a Sor/War work? I'm no expert so I'm feeling my way a bit, but my understand is Warlock 2 for Eldritch Blast with Agonizing Blast for extra damage and Sorcerer 10 for Twinned Spell and Quickened Spell to boost the Eldritch Blast even more. The Warlock short rest is used to get spells back and then the Sorcerer convert spells to meta-magic to get Sorcery Points to boost EB more. Since EB is based on character level and not class level you only need the two levels of Warlock for everything useful there and more levels of Sorcerer gives you more Sorcery Points and more spells to use or sacrifice.

Been wondering if the playtime of Early Access and the released version is combined. For reasons. On Steam it is too.
