The full question should read: Why are you playing Mass Effect Andromeda in multiplayer and not other multiplayer games or at least not only those neglecting Mass Effect Andromeda?
Maybe this topic already was covered in other threads and I’m not aware. Haven’t found something adequate. The intention is to seriously discuss/share ideas why you/we are playing MEA in multiplayer although there are multiplayer games out there doing it better (do they?). What keeps you going. So please at least try to give it a serious thought and answer. Although I know that MEA is built as a single player game at least I’m much more playing the multiplayer part of it and enjoy it a lot. However I came up with a few ideas (for myself) how to even more increase the enjoyment of the game, for instance • More maps/enemy factions • Bigger maps, much, much bigger maps • Longer missions with e.g. 1h gameplay for a team • Additional non-battle objectives • PvP in addition to PvE • …
Now I know you know that many of these ideas have been discussed in and out. I – not having played any other multiplayer ever except for ME3MP – discussed it with my son who told me: “But Dad, all of these elements already are out there, Destiny for instance providing very long team missions, Battlefied, Command & Conquer etc. etc. ”
My question is – if so many games are out there offering higher variability, longer/more ambitious objective concepts, PvP etc. – why are you still playing MEAMP?
Don’t get me wrong, I do NOT wanna encourage anybody to move to other games even more as I need ALL of you to save my a… when being headbutted to death by another berserker. But I would like to understand what keeps you happy with this game despite the fact there might be other games out there doing an equivalent good or better job. As I’m obviously lacking an appropriate base for comparison I can only tell what I enjoy.
It’s quick and you receive immediate feedback of success or failure. It gives me the good feeling of random people helping each other (doing objectives, reviving, fighting the same enemies etc.). It provides a lot of variability in character/weapon/team vs. enemy faction/map/difficulty set up. It provides me the emotional connect to the mass effect universe single player history. It’s fun.
Thanks for reasonable replies.

• Longer missions with e.g. 1h gameplay for a team • Additional non-battle objectives • PvP in addition to PvE
Longer missions? Don't even want that. As for ME3, I like the shorter missions. Makes it easy to fit in a busy schedule. The objectives we get are fine with me. Fits with the shorter format. Not interested in PvP for a co-op multiplayer game at all. The introduction of PvP by necessity, means watered down, weak powers in order to preserve multi class balance.

Why do I play it? Because I finally got bored with Warframe after 3000+ hours.
While I loved ME3MP, after the fluid mobility of WF it felt so leaden and here we have JETPACKS!!!!!!!!!!!! which does give a decent mobility.
I like it, my friends like it, so we play it. The grind so many complain about isn't relevant to my enjoyment of it.

I have no interest in PvP other than racing games, but I have a love of 3rd person co-op play in a sci-fi setting. If I can go for a day or two without using a Claymore I'm happy to spend it in Andromeda, at least while they continue to improve it with patches. I've spent over 4000 hours playing the OT across SP and MP, but only a couple of hundred hours in MEA so far, and have gone back to the OT twice since MEA's release. It falls a long way short in just about every department, but a lot of that seems to be related to its development hell and too-early release. It's getting better. Slowly.

MEAMP is fine**** the way it is (definitely not fine, but that will be explained).
It's not a PvP game, it doesn't need hour long missions like a Raid from Destiny and the maps are all decent size compared to the Rio map from ME3.
The game isn't perfect and can certainly use some more maps, characters, enemies, dynamics during the missions, maybe a new objective or 2 and certainly different powers. But outside of that, morphing the game into something else is not going to improve the game. It's only going to alienate the players who wanted an improved ME3MP version of this game.

I have a good number of games that I switch around with as the fancy suits me.
I keep MEA installed still but don't actively play it currently - still waiting new maps and DLC that could reignite my group of friends.

Main reason is the lack of pvp. Pvp games invariably attract the scum of the earth like dog shit attract flies. Here I can play with somewhat sensible people instead.

Here are my feedbacks haha Not directly addressing the issues mentioned in OP 1. I don`t play PvP because it is tiresome. Some people are way too emotionally involved and I don`t find it worth it anymore 2. I don`t play pure gun shooting game. I find it boring... and it only measures one skill. Who can aim and shoot better and faster. I love how MEMP reward you for understanding and using power correctly that has nothing to do with aiming guns. 3. I like TPS I find TPS far more charming than any FPS 4. I like unlocking stuffs... RNG ways It`s not different for me opening Yu-Gi-Oh card pack as a kid or rolling a dice. 5. I like Casual play I don`t dedicate myself heavily to game anymore. I play few games, and I like getting in and out quickly. MEMPs fit this perfectly. I tried to play Destiny... but the Destiny was full of shite where you have to arrange meeting with people, go watch youtube and other craps where it made things too complicated for me to enjoy. 6. MEMPs are rewarding game as you get better I like carrying people to certain extents. Some players are absolutely clueless and only try to take advantage of other players.. but I enjoy being the key part of each mission where I help and get the job done. 7. I love Mass Effect. I love Turians, Krogans, Asari, Drell.... and even Salarians since I get to know Dr. Mordin. lol I think that about sums it up.

Because I loved ME3MP and I feel some nostalgia Also because the matches are quick so I don't have to stay online a long time or loose pretty much everything (for instance a Gears of War match could last for 2 hours or so). Also, since I don't live in the US nor in Europe, my ping time is usually much higher than most players, so I can't play PvP in high level.

What I like about MEA is that I have the choice whether I have a little more time free for a longer SP session for whether I just happen to have enough time for some quick rounds of MP. Having two games in one universe which share the same background and fight mechanics but serve different purposes ist really nice.
Apart from that I've spent so much time in the ME-universe that mit kinda feels like home.

Only times I play is when I get an invite from a friend. Other than that Overwatch gets all my time. Who's going to kill all these scum of the earth PvP players if not me?
IF they were to do PvP, which will never happen, mass Effect could follow a similar formula to overwatch and be awesome. You can see some overlap between some of the characters and classes, Pharah and Havoc, Tracer (tinker bell on cocaine) and Drell Vanguard, etc.

I already own it and already know it, intimately. To play a new game would mean learning a new game and starting late. I generally hate that, I prefer to be on the ground floor, at most a few months after launch. Past that I just don't think most games are very welcoming to new players (the game design specifically, not to mention the community).
I have Overwatch and played the heck out of it, but I grew to hate it. Playing arcade or unranked was not competitive enough, and I could never hit the ranks where people played really well as a team. It got really frustrating and tiring being the only person who cared about team comp and tactics and using the mic.
That said if Overwatch had a PvE mode I'd probably still be playing it.

There's not a lot of new games out with co-op multiplayer on PS4 that I know of (open to suggestions!) Waiting on Destiny 2 and Borderlands 3 (played earlier versions of these games to the max).
