Not gonna lie, only understand the first one. And I kinda wish I didn't. lol That poor trill. Not sure I should explain the other two then. Tinman and Gormagander, uhm. You've heard of the birds. And, the bees...? Also that guy was presumably on the ship so there's a voyeuristic aspect to this that gets freaké, I won't got into that but, yeah. Not the weirdest thing in Star Trek. (Have you heard of Warp10 Salamander babies?)
Klingons have redundant biological systems. Clearly that should've included butt-cheeks. Someone mentioned that they think the butt-cheeks would be layered like a tetris L block, which I think makes sense. Optimization and maximum efficiency for butt-cheekage coverage.
*** I made up an introduction for the NiceBorg. "We are the Borg, you will be assimilated... if you want to. It's actually quite nice in here, you're in a sort of euphoric delusion but you're part of a tribal mentality all at once. Seriously, resistance is futile to our compassion. We'll help you out."
Given what the space babies from that nebula looked like, I'd rather have thrown the Encounter at Farpoint creatures into the mix there.

Someone on reddit came up with the idea that Tamarians speak in memes. It makes a lot of sense for a shittydaystrom post. (Which are the best kind.)

Well, it looks like my favourite subreddit, r/shittydaystrom, has gone Restricted and is being gutted by reddit admins on behalf of the main Trek subs moderators. Who are extraordinarily heavy handed in dealing with criticism. They actually permaban people participating in other subreddits that mention them negatively. (Even if it's truth.) Interestingly, in case you are wondering, I'm not banned from the main sub. (Yet.) I left voluntarily after seeing how it was moderated a long while back. There's a now closed post with some people talking about this I'm watching. The post wasn't closed by the mods of shittydaystrom, rather it says it was closed by Reddit Spam Filters. lol. ...so, uh, you guys might have to gloss over a lot more shitty posts from me if this sub gets closed, all I'm saiyan...

TL;DR, if you haven't watched Lower Decks do not proceed. ↓ *** I've been playing Star Trek: Online, a F2P MMO that takes place in the Kelvin timeline from the '09 movies. In this MMO there is a system wherein you can assign a pool of Duty Officers to missions that take real time, but don't require any input. After a duration the mission either Critically Passes, Succeeds, Fails, or is a Disaster. There is a risk element as well, if a combat-oriented mission fails or an industrial mission has a disaster your Duty Officers can wind up in Sick Bay for 20 hrs. Missions range from 30mins to 72 hrs so far, so it reduces your pool for a significant chunk of time relatively. You can get a free little pack of extra Duty Officers to add to your pool that are from Lower Decks. Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford. Here's Tendi... The missions on offer are dependent upon what sector or station your ship is in. If you're at DS9 you get DS9 oriented missions like tulaberry wine, Bajoran artefacts, Ketracel white, etc. I was out ranging and got a mission for what basically amounted to a 48hr long party. (AKA Festival.) I literally even had to replicate synthale and Entertainment Provisions to do the mission; this mission took a disproportionate amount of Duty officers as well. 5 or 6, when the missions usually take 1-3. Beckett. Mariner. Was on this mission. This, this, party, managed to be a disaster, and the entire team got put in the sick bay, including Mariner. Can't make this shit up. It was her fault, I just know it.

Been playing more STO, started a Romulan character and I got a bit of an interesting PoV I've never considered. To be clear the game doesn't really make this obvious, but I drew some conclusions and they were, fascinating.
***
Imagine you, literally you, human you, ugly bag of meat and water you, gets told that your anger, your hate, your jealousy, all "negative" emotions can be mollified, controlled, even made to serve you. Then imagine someone else comes along and tells you that the people that just told you the above, aren't telling you the whole truth. You see, you have to purge all emotion, love, lust, joy, the good along with the bad. Also, there are no guarantees. Oh, and to make things worse the guy preaching the above is literally heralded as a religious icon now. There's logic at action for you. After that, you're told these two sides are at war and you have to pick one.
***
Do you pick the cold-logic zealous side or the one that's preaching love? Never really thought of the Vulcan/Romulan split that way before.

I mean, imagine being that fleshy bag of meat and water being told by some weirdo religious figure that the logical path is suppress all emotions while at the same time several brutal wars are fought all over your planet by the factions preaching love That kind of puts another spin on the whole thing and explains why the emotionals were the minority that had to flee.
Also, speaking about romulans, i somehow miss daggers being pointed at everyone. But maybe i just don't see them. Sneaky bastards
BTW: How is the romulan campagin now? Years ago i started a klingon after all the grinding with my main fed cruiser got too much, but i lost interest in that and then the game pretty quickly afterwards. IIRC back then i was told that the romulan stuff was even more barebones than the klingon missions. I think that was shortly after the ds9 missions were introduced

IIRC back then i was told that the romulan stuff was even more barebones than the klingon missions. I think that was shortly after the ds9 missions were introduced I'm enjoying it so far, but there are issues. I started a few weeks ago on a Starfleet Engineer, got him up to lvl 63. He started the New Romulus episodes and Reputation chain, which I am partway through now. During this I decided it'd be a good time to start a Romulan, and lo'n'behold their starting campaign is setting up New Romulus. Seeing it started on my new toon then seeing it later on my Engineer was kinda neat.
I haven't done the Klingon campaign yet so I can't really offer a comparison. The Starfleet intro was so over-the-top that I'll say I enjoyed the simplicity of the Romulan campaign comparably.
I don't see myself doing much endgame content. There are a lot of time-consuming bugs and server lag, and I absolutely hate the "eBay" mechanic of this game. But as a free MMO I can play solo and read the episodes, it's worthwhile. Ship combat is fun, ground combat is not.

Chief Medical Officers Log: Stardate, I hate you. This is M'Benga.
I've been stranded on this shit-hole of a planet for years now. The locals have somehow managed to achieve FTL by taking hallucinogens. I've run out of rations and had to adapt to the local culture. Now I drink my own piss and spit at people I like. Please send a temporal agent to make me forget everything that's happened. A fifteen year old boy just beat me up. I can't do this anymore.

Leoban the Cylon is in Star Trek: Discovery's fifth (and final) season. (Get it, Final Five... get it... meheheh.)
I quite like Callum Keith Rennie, first as Leoban then in Californication. Guy has quite the range.

I'm liking Rayner too. And really, he got a raw deal from the Federation. His interpretation of his orders under the Red Directive doesn't strike me as unreasonable. Which is kind of typical for DSC; while the show appears to be darker and grittier, in practice it's as idealistic as early TNG.

SNW renewed for season 4 YAY Lower Decks cancelled after upocoming 5th season NAY - Not surprised about SNW's renewal (but happy obviously)
- Surprised (and extremely sad) that LD is ending - even if Mike said to take nothing for granted, always thought it would be economically cheaper to produce than a regular live action series. - Really do hope as Mike points out that we'll see the characters again in the future. Hoping the season isn't ending on a cliffhanger, as it has been long produced and in the can, so to not end on a cliffhanger. the LD/SNW crossover hence becomes even more special now.

Yay for SNW renewal, that was not a given with what seems to be going on at Paramount these days. As for LD, I am a huge LD fan but honestly, I am not too sad. For me, most funny shows tned to get a bit old after 4-5 seasons(granted, the old seasons had double the number of episodes, so the comparison isn't quite fair). I'd rather LD quits while it's ahead, rather then potentially slipping and gradually getting worse over time. This way, we have a good chance to have one very nice package from start to finish and I'd be ok with that. Also, saw the first 2 episodes of Disco S5 (not the third one yet, had to delay because the Fallout series got in between). I always had a bit of a love-hat relationship with Disco but season 5 has started out extremely good so far. Warning, some spoilers ahead. They finally got rid of all of that forced drama and pathos and struck a lighter tone, which works so much better for this series. Episode 1 was super fast paced but set up the season really nicely and the setpieces and the action were gorgeous (that shield barrier, very cool). Also, massive kudos to the actor who played Fred. What a performance! I also like that they didn't keep him for too long, he was the perfect gimmick character but as a huge Data fan I loved him. IMO, there is a real argument, that this guy would have been a much better revival for Data in Picard s3, rather than dragging Brent Spiner back out (I love Spiner but they really overdid it with him IMO). Anyway, great episode and also, The Chase is in my top 5 of all ST episodes ever and I always thought that plot was a lot of wasted potential just hanging in the air there. So glad they decided to pick this one up. Episode 2 then reduced the breakneck pace a little but that was perfectly ok. Good thematic episode with the "second chances" idea woven through it. Also, I am very happy to see Raynor join the crew. I always thought ever since Discovery got into the future, their crew was a little too polished. Everyone seemed like this almost superhuman, exceptionally intelligent, empathetic, athletic, maximally gifted, benevolent person. Ok, so to some extent, it is kinda in the tradition of Starfleet crews throughout the franchise to fill the ships with a bunch of Mary Sues but I thought Disco always took it a little over the top (like it did with a lot of ST tropes). I am happy to see that with Raynor, they are adding at least one character to the crew, who is a little more flaed and a little rougher around the edges. I also like the antagonists. They are something a little different and who can't like Alex Toufexis anyway? All in all, a great start to the new season. I am really curious where they'll take this.

I always had a bit of a love-hat relationship with Disco but season 5 has started out extremely good so far. I'm a bit more on the fence... I like Raynor's abrasiveness as a contrast to the oft-overly dramatic DIS crew. I like the Progenitors angle because I thought at the time, and still think today, that it was a very clever Watsonian solution to a Doylist problem. I just hope they don't fuck it up. Ending of S3 was a travesty. However I quite liked the end of S4, so it could go either way. There were a few moments I had to let my eyes roll or sigh through though. Opening with Michael Michaeling the ship at Warp Michael only to talk down anti-Michael and basically... like, why did she go on the ship traveling at warp in the first place if all she did was shoot ineffectually, get knocked around, and deliver a one-sided dialogue? Because she's Michael and this is the Michael Burnham's Gunna Michael Burnham You Show. Oh. Also, this... Then there were two starship crews that decided the best conceptualization of their very vague and presumably quickly given orders, was to face-plant them both like a pair of ostriches hiding their heads under the sand hoping everything works out for the best. You have goddamned deflectors that can burst through asteroids while going fractional speeds of light and there's this other nifty trick called "extending shields." You'd think they'd remember that what with not even bothering to attach their nacelles. ...all this while a rather improbable landslide is happening that shouldn't have even reached the town given how far they traveled in their Mad Max parody? Eh. At the least I appreciated Raynor's, "70% FTW!"
Oh, the lack of Jett Reno in the first two episodes is criminal. Light related spoiler for next ep↓ This is in fact rectified in ep 3 but still. They are something a little different and who can't like Alex Toufexis anyway? ←This guy, me, right here. I'm not sold on Bonnie and Clyde and have a slightly irrational dislike of the voice of the guy since The Expanse. And he has a very distinct voice. Smarmy. I quite liked Tarka last season in his role as defacto primary antagonist comparably. I agree the guy that played not-Data did a good job, and would've done a good variation of Data similar to how I like SNW's Kirk, even if he's wildly different. I like that they're going that route instead of trying to mimic the past. Either way, Fred was well acted and a fun side character. Bit of a shame to waste on a one-shot but as you said, nothing's a sure bet in Paramount these days.
I continue to like Dadmiral Vance. Tilly. This is a bit of an odd spot. When Tilly's arc switched from "Michael's fun roommate" to "I HAVE TO BE A CAPTAIN" it felt very shoehorned in. So in this respect, I actually rather like that at the end of last season and the beginning of this season, she's taken a teaching role instead. And not just taken it but taken to it. I dunno if that was planned ahead (I doubt it.) Regardless. I like that a plot angle for her that I'd felt was shoehorned in, wound up getting twisted into her seeing herself getting shoehorned into it. Weird but appreciated. Kovich is another favourite but he hasn't displayed any of his sharp wit or foresightedness into someone's character. He's mostly just walked around a bit grumpy giving orders, feels like he needs some of that spice he had last season. I have mixed feelings on bringing the Breen back but I must admit I hope we finally get to see what's under their suits. I made a post asking what people thought the Breen were under their armour, but tagged it "Wrong answers only." My favourite was that they all look like Jeffrey Combs. *** shittydaystrom has been having a field-day with STD S5, and I've enjoyed it. But one theory cropped up that sounds eerily plausible and entirely not shitty enough for that sub. Plausible like back in season 1 when I heard early on that someone suspected Lorca of being MU so I started watching for it. Sure enough the theory got more and more credibility and turned out true. This is ringing the same bell, so I'm going to spoiler this again because it honestly feels like a leak for the S5 plot as a whole. Once I heard it a lot of pieces started sliding together. Basically, the Progenitors used the Mycelial Network to panspermia the galaxy.
This does a few things, firstly, and absolutely most important, it makes the Spore drive and the crew of the Discovery EVEN MOAR SPECIAL!
Okay okay. But seriously, it does... Stamets is bitching about not being recognized, this provides a bit of an answer to that now open question.
Secondly, it's a potential reason why the Spore Drive project is shuttered at Starfleet and they look towards the Pathway drive instead.
Thirdly and Doylist, when they made the Spore Drive they knew they had to make it a one-off. It was too powerful for every ship in canon to start jumping around ala BSG. (or dropping around as the case appears to be.)
Fourthly, the organic tech angle. Progenitors must've been masters of organic tech to some degree, and the network fits the scope of what they accomplished seeding the galaxy. (Not that they necessarily created the network they may have just used it.)
I'm sure there's more that clicks together that I haven't mentioned/thought of either.
*** Yay for the renewal of SNW. I agree it wasn't a for sure thing when by every right it outta be. LD. Cancellation sucks, but five seasons is a good run in this day 'n age. Also hoping there isn't a cliffhanger ending. They seem to be putting a lot of eggs in the "Star Trek: Academy" basket which seems... unwise.

In four seasons of Disco, I have trained myself not to look too deeply into what they might have done differently but rather just go with the flow. I am just very happy that they don't overdo it on the melodrama anymore.

I encourage you all to try to use, "please, for the love of god who needs a starship" in your daily lives a bit more frequently.

I liked "Face the Strange." It's basically "All Good things.." with more punching, right?
