It could be worse, you could get the war table glitch that ups the duration of a war table operation.
"This war table operation is going to take 23 days, 6 hours, 41 minutes, and 7 seconds, WHAT?!"

Most of them are inconsequential, that's my problem with it.

Since I'm not a PC gamer I tried that trick once (disconnect the console from the internet and reset the clock) the problem is that when I reconnect the console back to the net (which automatically resets the clock) you get punished by having to wait 24 hours for any operation with all 3 characters. Yeah, that's just cruel. All in all, War Table Missions look like a project which was abandoned half-way through - some could actually remain the way they are, but other, such as the infamous "helping" Clan Lavellan, just beg for more development and Inky's personal involvement. This game seems to have a lot of cool ideas that were scratched at the end. I guess the directing should have been more focused.

If the waiting was worth it, cool. But it never was. God bless the modders who made the mod that automatically finishes the quests, though.

Really wished they took a great deal of the resource grinding out. Watching the Inquisitor wave their hands about to mime harvesting was just too silly. And crafting lost too much of its charm when one has to make the call between stats and color.

The rewards could have been more interesting, but overall I liked the War Table missions. They were a way of telling stories of the Inquisition that take place outside your personal supervision.

Another thing I found slightly frustrating was that with some War Table missions it didn't seem to matter who you chose and with others it was vitally important to choose the correct advisor or it would end in failure. Then you also had to factor in what sort of Inquisition you wanted to be. First run I was avoiding using Cullen because I wanted it to be either spying or diplomacy but that meant I had a whole stack of missions waiting for them to free up while Cullen twiddled his thumbs, plus I often thought one or other of them would be the best choice anyway.
Then there were some that could only be done at Haven, even though I could see no particular reason for this restriction. So I was rather annoyed when I got to Skyhold and the mission had disappeared. The Hunters Fell one also caught me out because it was still running when I saved the Chargers but promptly disappeared because it was a Ben'Hassrath linked mission, so now I was out of favour, the mission ended. Subsequent games I did a lot of metagaming at the War Table and also setting up the longer ones before I closed down for the night, so I got the outcomes I wanted and didn't miss anything.
I definitely agree that it would have been good to have actually done some of the missions on the War Table. I was also disappointed that they didn't do this with their comic series Mage Killer and instead had Marius and Tessa going to exactly the same places as the Inquisitor did. Some of those War Table missions sounded like it would be really interesting to be there and seeing the action instead of having just a brief resume after the event.

This game seems to have a lot of cool ideas that were scratched at the end. I guess the directing should have been more focused. I agree, it does seem as if they had to scrap a lot, but I'm hoping Bio did actually draw some conclusions. The amount of fluff (such as War Table Missions) in what could have been a truly outstanding game is just baffling at times, really. I've played DAI more hours that I should admit to and yet, it still irks me. I for one understand the need to scrap stuff, do to well, logical reasons. But Bioware's reason was always: "We ran out of time." They extended DAI production time from two years to three. I cannot fathom how the game would look if they did not extend the production time. Furthermore they should have given themselves four years to make this game. Beyond that I think they took too much influence from Skyrim. Its not like DA2 was a horrible game to where the developers had to completely rework DAI to make it come off like a single player MMO.
It seems they were far more focused on how pretty the game is then what is actually IN the game for the player to do. DAI was a mess and shadow of the previous two games. Why and how it won game of the year still boggles my mind. I still play this game from time to time, but the execution really bugs; not to mention I am still finding flaws with the writing to this day that I never noticed before. I hope the next installment is not hack-job. Really wished they took a great deal of the resource grinding out. Watching the Inquisitor wave their hands about to mime harvesting was just too silly. And crafting lost too much of its charm when one has to make the call between stats and color.
I agree. Thankfully playing on PC I was able to download a MOD to not only remove the animation but also have a choice on to show the loot table or not. I prefer, "run by looties." Look the animation is nice and all for realism but its annoying and unnecessary. Beyond that the loot bags in this game were hard as hell to see even with the loot ring. Trying to find a loot bag on sand with light...ugh. I wish they go back to looting the bodies or larger sparkle bags.

Didn't even know this was a thing. Now that I auto complete them, I just end my gaming session by making all the flags disappear while referring to a spreadsheet I found online.

WHO IN THE WORLD thought to keep that in a game that has more than 100 hours of gameplay with maps filled with materials and shit to collect all over? I mean jesus fucking christ, I can't for the life of me understand this. It's like no one on BioWare played this game from start to finish. I have so many angry feelings towards this loot animation thing that to me the game is unplayable without the mod to remove that crap.

I like the idea of the War Table operations, but I agree they could have been better. As it stands, you need to manipulate your console or PC's calendar to get though all of them without waiting hours on end in real-time. One thing I would have loved is the ability to spend Power on War Table operations to instantly complete them. Not only dos this make doing the War Table Ops fun, but you have a way of spending excess Power.

I don't think they did. Or they did and chose to keep it in the game to annoy the piss out of everyone. Truth be told, some of things we see as obvious issues, its, well, mind boggling the developers cannot see it as such too. I swear during the whole of DAI production the developers were smoking cheap crayons.

Yeah, that's why I got the mod that auto-completes them. I don't have time to wait around anymore. So annoying. Not that the War Table missions even mean anything, as others have pointed out, but it does drive the completionist in me crazy not to do them so...

It could be worse, you could get the war table glitch that ups the duration of a war table operation. "This war table operation is going to take 23 days, 6 hours, 41 minutes, and 7 seconds, WHAT?!" Omg... that actually happens? Is is a console, PC, or both? Does that just happen on its own or is it because the games gets pissed if you try to cheat by changing your system time?

It happened to me when the game was still new, on the last gen. It did cause me to do cole and sera's quest late since they need a war table operation completed but it did eventually get fixed/ patched before I finished the game (at least for me that is, not sure about other people with this glitch).

I found the areas too big and time consuming (if you want to explore everything), would've prefered sparkles with the loot over just a faint outline, not a fan of so much material gathering and War Table missions could've been shorter or there could've been an option to actually perform those mission personally. I would've much rather gone to Denerim and helped Allister weed out the Venatori spies in the kitchen than run around collecting materials and shards.

To say DAI is an open world game is not only a lie but an insult. True open world games are those like Skyrim or The Witcher 3- going from this area to the next area without a loading screen.
Lets back track...
DAO was not perfect- no game is- however the zone sizes fit what was going on and/or what was placed there.
In DA2 the zones were repeats but again the zones were sized like those in DAO and what I said above.
In DAI the zones were larger then the previews two games but there was a serious lack of content to fill said area.
I don't need large open zones in order to enjoy the game. If the zone is small like those in DAO or even DA2 and the content fills said area, I'm happy. Running from point A to point B and either getting attacked by the same mobs, not having enough quests in that zone to do, makes the area feel hollow. Its nice to see larger zones but when that zone just does have the "filling" nature it should, it makes me lean towards the fact the developers were more interested in "pretty trees and water" then "immersion."
There was so much content they removed from the game that it its disheartening to know what it could have been like. Every-time I am in an are and see those posters boards, I become disappointed they removed that content. (Best place to see these boards is in Orlais near the front store, Western Approach Fort). I maybe one few but I really did enjoy doing board and guild missions.

Yup. Guaranteed, the areas were beautiful, but they didn't need to be so big for what you has to do in them.

I'm still wondering about what was the point of having the Hissing Wastes so large and set entirely at night. Even on horseback it took me ages to explore. I'd gallop for seemingly miles, only to check the map and discover I'd hardly moved at all from the point where I started. Since it is recorded in the Keep, I hope that the discoveries you make there have some bearing in the future.
That's actually something I'd like changed for the next game, the ability to experience the 24 hour clock. We had that as far back as BG2, so why is it not possible now?
