They white washed Drakon in JoH. You should read the write up on him in WoT2 and then you start to wonder how Ameridan ever respected him. Then again, Ameridan knew what Drakon was like. That's like saying "You should read all those Dalish myths about the Dread Wolf and wonder how Inky ever respected him". WOT2 may smuggle some interesting insights and hints, but it us NOT written as book containing all the unbiased facts. Like, can we really not go in black-and-white direction? Why assume that character was 'white-washed' instead of just a complex individual with virtues and faults? The fact alone that Drakon was friends with Ameridan and was allying/protecting elves should tell you that we're talking about someone who likely wasn't a stereotypical tyrant. And that's where I'm leaving it. ...Does anyone know when exactly Knight Errant will be released today?

I read the digital version. If the series proves good, I might spring for the trade. A promising start. The art's a little rough in spots, but certainly not bad. The characters are likeable. A couple of thoughts on the story: Although Mike Laidlaw says this is set pre-Trespasser, it must be set pre-Trespasser for two reasons: 1) The Meredith statue is still in the Gallows, and a codex in Trespasser says it was removed. Mind you, that could be an error. dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Codex_entry:_Varric_and_the_Last_Few_Years2) Charter still says she represents the Inquisition. Mind you, I don't think the Inquisition dissolved immediately at the end of Trespasser; it would take a while for an organization of that size to disassemble. And Charter could just be throwing the Inquisition's name around.

A couple of thoughts on the story: Although Mike Laidlaw says this is set pre-Trespasser, it must be set pre-Trespasser for two reasons:
1) The Meredith statue is still in the Gallows, and a codex in Trespasser says it was removed. 2) Charter still says she represents the Inquisition. Mind you, I don't think the Inquisition dissolved immediately at the end of Trespasser; it would take a while for an organization of that size to disassemble. No, it's not pre-Trespasser. 1). The letter from Varric clearly states that he thinks of excess red lyrium growing in Gallows as part of Meredith ("Nobody misses having Meredith fused to the flagstones, eerily glaring at everyone"). They got rid of the excess - they left the statue, because... well, what else you gotta do with it? The place is deserted, it's probably better to leave the statue there, monitored, in case it starts overgrowing the landscape again or someone gets a brilliant idea to steal the statue and start growing the lyrium, like Cory did in Emprise du Lion.
2). Charter referring to Inquisition is an obvious hint that whether Inquisition is disbanded or absorbed by Chantry, it still exists as its separate, if smaller, entity. This is actually no revelation - we know that "Shadow Inquisition" continues thanks to post-epilogue scene in Trespasser. It doesn't matter whether we disband it or not.

Well, Varric hasn't been made officially the Viscount yet, so perhaps it starts out slightly pre Trespasser then toward the end of the series, post Trespasser.
I do like a feisty elf.
I wonder if Merrill will make an appearance? I have always wondered how Merrill would have responded to the news about the Dread Wolf kicking around Thedas again...Naw, that's too much to hope for.

The one thing I thought was a bit odd was when Vaea though "How did no one warn us Kirkwall had built a monument to slavery?"
Sweetness, Kirkwall IS a monument to slavery. 😏

SO anyone care to give a summary of the first issue? An old knight, Ser Aaron Hawthorne, and his elven squire Vaea travel to Kirkwall to attend the coronation ceremony for Viscount Varric. Ser Aaron is a bit of a drunkard and is seemingly oblivious to the fact that his squire is actually an accomplished thief. After she pulls off a job for a rogue templar who used to be one of Meredith's most trusted knights, she runs into Charter from the Inquisition, who wants to have a chat for reasons unspecified.

Mind, this comic has Bioware canon stuff Alistair is specifically mentioned as the King of Ferelden.
So, that the Inquisition remains in the comic only means that the "Inquisition remains" is part of their novels/comic canon.

Yeah, I imagine this follows the canon of the other Dark Horse/Dragon Age comics, where Alistair was King of Ferelden. This comic could definitely be set in a canon where the Inquisition continued post-Trespasser, but the Meredith statue was definitely moved pre-Trespasser. That's incontrovertible.
So either the author made a mistake, Bioware made a mistake, or this is set pre-Trespasser.

I'm surprised that Vaea and the old man get along. Elves usually suffer under human masters.

Alright, just read the first chapter. GOAT. EYES. Goat motherfucking eyes... :rage: Yeah, I wonder what's up with that. Just... weird. That said, I thought it was off to a decent enough start, even with a little clumsy dialogue here and there. Vaea seems interesting enough, though she feels... a bit generic. They're playing to some very familiar tropes in the first issue. Hopefully we'll see more interesting sides to her personality down the road.

You can just feel the exuberance coming off him in waves!

You can just feel the exuberance coming off him in waves! There is this party banter where Varric asks Fenris if they hold brooding competitions in Tevinter and give a prize to the one with the best scowl. I am now fully convinced that is 100% fact. The only question left is who would win a scowl off: Fenris or Marius.
