Ian, I would like to ask why gay Scott is the only orientation that does not have any LI within squad mates. Is there a time constraint on making, say, Jaal bisexual? Or somehow being attracted to men does not fit into their characters?
Also, Cora and Peebee sex scenes are very explicit, while Gil "sex" scene shows no nudity and it's the classic fade to back. What are the reasons for this discrepancy? Thank you. Maybe put that romance info in a spoiler box? The title of the thread does say spoiler-free feedback. Done. Thanks for reminding me.

I have played about 7 hours into the early access, and here are my thoughts: 1. The CC, as others have said, is quite awful. In fact, I believe it is the worst CC of any game I've played in recent years. Although I was able to create a nice-looking Ryder, it took a great deal of effort, and I felt frustrated about my inability to change his eye shape, eyebrow shape, nose shape, and mouth shape. His hair options were quite silly - 5 or 6 plain short hairstyles. When I created his sister, her options were more interesting, including shoulder-length options. In game, my Ryder suddenly has massive wrinkles and pock marks on his face when he smiles or makes a surprised expression. It's so bad that it's actually difficult for me to look at. On the positive side, I LOVE the many different hair colors I can select. 2. Gameplay is enjoyable; the learning curve was steep but I enjoyed what little I saw. Aim assist for controller on PC could be improved... I DID have it selected, and yet there appears to be no assist at all. It's extremely difficult to land my pointer on the target, and if they move? Forget it. It reminds me a lot of playing Star Wars: Battlefront on PC with controller, and that has no aim assist. In fact I had to stop playing SW:B because it was impossible for me to compete with K&B users. 3. Menus are EXTREMELY difficult for me to understand and navigate. I've had to ask other players for assistance on how to level up, purchase weapons, assign powers, etc. This is another learning curve, but it's one I haven't mastered. And I'm used to both shooters and RPGs. 4. Dialogue so far is excellent, and the voice acting is great! Kudos on that. 5. Character design is a bit wonky. My Scott stands with his chest puffed out and his arms hovering away from his body. As someone else pointed out, Core crosses her arms over her breasts, which no woman does ever. She and other women (like Suvi) have incredibly small shoulders. As in previous games, the differences between male and female physiques is quite ludicrous. Men are always too big; women are always too small. I question whether any animators and editors are female or know of any women... period. It's quite silly. 6. Mini-map is the exasct opposite of helpful. I've gotten lost on the first level as well as the Nexus. And again, I'm a veteran gamer. That map is just horrible. Now as to whether I will continue playing the game after early access: Probably not. I intend to cancel my pre-order after hearing about the incredibly insulting and lopsided distribution of romances. Relegating gay characters to the ship as if they are a disease is repulsive. Having a squad with representatives from every demographic besides gay men is ridiculously transparent. I doubt you, Ian, or any writers, editors, etc. are responsible for this; it's undoubtedly the higher ups. But it's awful, utterly awful, and hurts the integrity of your brand.

Romance spoilers (sorry): Instate the m/m Jaal option. You at least have signs of the files existing.
I didn't expect this to be a big deal. But it is. I can't help it.

I cannot express my disappointment at the handling of m/m romances in this game.
Many people play Bioware games as they have more representation for people like us. Mass Effect has always had fewer (or no) romances for gay men, but I, and many others, hoped this was different in Andromeda. We were wrong.
Gay men have a crew mate romance and an on-planet romance.
To put this into context, all other orientations have at least two options on the squad, and at least 3 options overall.
This also means that if you play as a gay man you are unable to receive the Matchmaker achievement. This is also not true for any other orientation.
I have been a faithful Bioware customer for years. But you have really, really broken our trust. We are used to being underrepresented or ignored in other media, but not in recent Bioware games.
As a subset of this, we have also seen that the m/m romances have fade to black sex scenes, whereas the straight/lesbian scenes are fully animated (at least some of them). Why are we being treated differently? Why do Bioware shy away from m/m sex while lavishly animating straight and lesbian sex? Why do gay men have the least options of all for FOUR MASS EFFECT GAMES in a row?
I will play ME:A, but I shall do so with a heavy heart, and only because I preordered it, and with fervent concerns about the treatment of gay men in future Bioware, particularly any future Mass Effect, games. Thanks for reading.

Ugh, my framerate is all.over the place at times. Even going in and out of the same area, sometimes it's fine and other times it lags. It's never consistent, I can't pin it down to one thing (like say lighting or smoke). Sometimes even on the tram it lags, yet other more complex scenes it's more than happy. It's getting a bit frustrating to be honest.

Romance spoilers: I'm one to join with my fellow players' opinions about the fiasco that is the m/m romance options in Andromeda.
I wont repeat the very valid points everyone else has described, but I will rather focus on the fact that, for four games now, no alien option has been given to gay players.
While I can understand gating certain races as options due to lore issues regarding the fertility or quantity of the species, any other, and especially a new race such as the Angara, should've been given a chance to be the first male alien for the gay demographic.
And I'm sure Gil and Reyes are lovely characters, but it's simply not the same, and personally no gay man should have to consider playing as a female just to bond in depth with the character that has infatuated so many.
Aliens might be foreign and strange, but I always felt that one of Mass Effect's strengths was to make them more approachable, more human. Please, consider giving gay players the chance to fairly engage with one.

First off, Thank you Tiberius, aarynflynn, Mac, Mike, and the entire team for your hard work to give us another Mass Effect game. I cannot wait to play the whole thing starting at midnight. I understand from an elementary POV the massive scope of work that your team set forth to accomplish, and despite some flaws, I would say you've done a hell of a good job! The exploration is great. I love the characters so far. I do think Addison is an Android and I hope to send her flying out of an airlock. I have full faith and confidence that some of the wonky animations will be polished over time, but for 1200+ characters, I appreciate and respect your work of art. Combat is the best it has ever been, and the worlds are gorgeous. Things I would I like added: -a few more mini games in DLC (poker on the tempest with squadmates just for fun; arcade games like what we got in ME3 Citadel DLC; an arena for betting?) -more dynamic land vehicles (I like that there are Kett drop ships and shuttles for colonies, but it would be nice to see those parked land vehicles move about in the world even as a dynamic prop. Small detail to add to immersion) -Possible Vehicle Combat (something pretty basic will suffice. Having a gun come out the top/back of the Nomad similar to Arkham Knight's Batmobile would be cool. Make it semi difficult to hit ground enemies and have the gun for the so purpose of destroying heavy vehicle armor). This could also make exploring more fun and diverse, and give players a reason to jump back into the world on a fresh run. -Special legendary weapon and legendary armor for each squad mate (This can be a reason to do another loyalty mission with each squad member and give the squad mate a new awesome weapon without completely changing the need to micromanage their weapons or armor) -Expansion with a third new race that enters the Heleus Cluster post end game (This would allow for a new mini storyline, additional planet to explore and smaller new venues, and a new squad mate) Thank you for listening to the forums requests and feedback! Cheers

If a developer or developers actually read this I'm sorry for being so long-winded but I want to articulate the way I feel in a way to make it clear to communicate my thoughts on the matter. I give you my thanks if you really read this whole post (the spoiler section being the most long-winded). You should be able to easily pause cutscenes. Other than that, there should be some sort of way to skip them too, even if it's a little hidden so people don't do it by mistake. I restarted a few times playing with the character creator and that was a tad tedious having to watch the intro. I liked it the first couple times. After that it was like "why can't I skip this" because you really can't fully see how your character looks in action in the creator itself. The exploration as in flying around and scanning planets is astoundingly tedious. I liken the interface used to fly from planet to planet to early DVD menus, with overly long animations that detract more than add to anything. I am very sorry if someone is reading this that had a hand in it, but I am surprised that made it through QA without someone saying how bad it is. I miss tactical pause/squadmate commands a ton. It doesn't put a spotlight on the work on AI; it just makes it feel like a feature was ripped out that used to be there for me. Checkpoint only save systems are a gaming trend I'm sick of, and they were brought in here. This is a big one. I know it's been said to death but if developers are actually going to read this topic I have to say it, and I appreciate it if it is read: The whole romance debacle. If you're actually reading it please do, because I want to articulate why this has been such a complete disaster for some of us. And I'll stress I was one of the people that vowed to be calm.
The romance aspects are hyped with tons of joking and "all the bang" and jokes about the nudity etc.
Next, Jaal is revealed, and hyped up like crazy by virtually every dev.
Several straight romances are highlighted. Despite this developers say they can't say anything about the romances at all, brushing off almost all questions about same sex romance.
The teasing about Jaal incessantly continues pretty much every single week. When asked, the "wait and see" response comes as to who can romance him. While this happens hype skyrockets because despite the "we don't want to spoil" claim more and more details about why he's an awesome character are revealed.
The early access period starts. Data mining shows data checks showing both Sara and Scott allowed in Jaal romance dialog options. Some of us breathed a huge sigh of relief. No data mining isn't going to be accurate and stuff may be left in but this gives false hope, which is still allowed to be strung along. Even worse are implications if he was at one point planned to be bi. By Saturday it became clear people couldn't find audio, which was alarming.
So finally we get to where we are now, where the very worst situation for m/m romances seems to be real. I'm not dismissing Gil off hand. It's not fair to people who worked on him, but the way it was handled looks really, really bad and here is why:
First let's discuss the unfortunate "if it makes sense" comment about making the characters. Sexual orientation is an aspect of what someone is, not who. It can be an important aspect of how some identify themselves but in the end all it defines is who one finds attractive. "If it makes sense" is unfortunate because it can be interpreted to mean "it doesn't make sense if the character is a ladykiller," or "it doesn't make sense if the character is too masculine (unless they are super dominant to match another stereotype)." There are certain character archetypes that ALWAYS seem to have to be straight, so combined with that "if it makes sense" becomes a lightning rod of disgust even if that's not at all what was meant by it. There's a couple page sarcastic string of posts in the Jaal thread about this, with a bunch of LGBT people sarcastically saying how it's impossible they are LGB or T because they act too normal or too straight. So to boil down to it, it doesn't have to be highlighted as some key aspect of a character. It just has to be. Take Judy's neighbors in Zootopia (who are in fact a gay married couple). They don't highlight this. The characters just are, and the fact they are gay does not define their characters. On the same token Clawhauser's orientation is left completely ambiguous. His character is a mass of stereotypes both met and subverted, and not saying which way he swings I think is a brilliant statement on that front because there are in fact flamboyant straight guys. He may or may not be straight. In the end it doesn't matter because that doesn't define who he is! So to sum up this paragraph: if "if it makes sense" really does refer to stereotypes like "ladykillers just have to be straight" and all the other unfortunate implications about dominance and other nonsense, that's well.. unfortunate. If that's not what was meant, it unfortunately gave the wrong impression (big time).
So that alone I'd brush off. But now that we are so close to release and more information is known it gets worse. Let's one by one tick off a series of typical unfortunate ways gay guys are marginalized (or straight guys are catered to most): 1.) The only male/male romances are off the squad. Of those, only one is a fully developed romance path from the looks of it. The unfortunate implication is this falls in line with the "lesbians are more acceptable because some straight guys find them hot and/or don't find them as gross as guys into guys."
2.) Of the sex scenes that are known, every single one of them focuses more on naked females. There is no male/male sex scene, the unfortunate implication that could be taken from that is that it's to not tick off straight guys weirded out by it, even if they don't have to see it.
3.) It's not confirmed but it may be possible Scott has no found sex scene noises. If that's true lump that into the growing mountain showing an extreme straight guy focus, the unfortunate implication being that straight guys aren't interested being reminded of the guy in the scene.
4.) Male nudity is played for laughs. That on its own isn't bad. It's the fact that it's a common trope for this to be exclusively the case, which unfortunately it seems like it may largely be in this game.
It's like a checklist of stereotypical ways straight men are emphasized while marginalizing everything else. Combined with the complete silence during the marketing, a paranoid reaction may be that marketing demanded the marginalization of males in the romantic/sexual content thinking it's too risky to weird out the majority straight male audience. I am absolutely not making an accusation that it must be the case, but when everything is taken together as a whole it looks extremely bad. Other than there not being male/male romance at all, pretty much the very worst case feared scenario has happened, right on down to the fade to black sex scene.
And this wouldn't be half as bad if people were not stringed along with that constant teasing the whole time leading up to release. All of that disappointment could have been put to rest, rather than having people hold out hope for months.
If Jaal really isn't straight or some of that laundry list is wrong I'd love to be wrong. If you read this thank you, and at the least I hope it's a little more understandable why all these things have added up to make some of us gay players feel terrible.
Edit: In addition, if the fact Gil's gay is seriously lampshaded add that to the list of unintentionally offensive aspects to the "it has to make sense" statement. No, a guy liking a guy absolutely does not have to be some core part of their character!
Overall I've had a good time and I look forward to playing the game, but boy has the uncertainty and ultimate disappointment in that spoiler been a huge mood killer.

Played the early access and here are a few brief thoughts. The world is absolutely beautiful. Great job, all. Space exploration makes me want to get stoned and just fly around for hours staring at it. Very cool. Animation is a bit of a problem (not sure if you've heard)... A couple of cringe worthy dialogue moments, but that's okay. Fun combat - looking forward to getting into the meat of the system. Really started to enjoy it after the story opened up a bit. Can't wait to see what's next. Played only 1 MP match and it was really tough and fun. Kudos for all your hard work, Bioware. Bring on tomorrow!

I've been gaming since 1976 and have watched women be treated in ways that would make your head spin if you were one. Did I, as a female gamer, ever complain? threaten? cry like a baby? nope. Because it's a GAME. I was playing games, 99% of the time as a male protag. Heck in GTA 5 you can watch women get raped and murdered, but who cares right? It's more important that gay men get to go on missions. Geez, kids these days. You don't know the half of it when it comes to "under represented".

Okay, that's enough of that. This isn't about "who's got it worse," this is about offering feedback to the developers. Some do lurk on this site and I think everyone should have a chance. I know that women still have a long way towards representation. I would be the first to agree with that. Folks in here have valid points though and I don't want to see this place devolve into bickering over feedback. I'm going to ask that the hostility stop now. Please keep this on topic and please don't lash out at other posters.

Premium Packs from Multiplayer MP with RARES MAXED, do not yield better drops for Ultra Rares, instead you acquire a load of consumables for 300AP or 100 000. Somewhat disappointing and off putting! No further cash will be put in this, if it does not get fixed. I really hope this gets looked into! This is how it worked in ME3 as well. It won't get changed, because they need to ensure the RNG store remains an unrewarding Skinner box for the rodent-minded.

I like the jets because of jumping. Over the course of the original trilogy, Shepard can't climb, then had limited climbing and finally can climb anything. Once I could jump in DAI I was happy! These jets are awesome. I do like the Nomad, even if it has no weapons. I am a better driver of it than I ever was of the Mako. Lots of areas to explore and hoping to discover how I can get to some places that seem inaccessible to me right now. I'll say I didn't complete the first major mission but I also spent a lot of time reading things and doing side missions. I figured since I had already pre-ordered there was no reason to rush. The mystery sounds interesting and I'm eager to find more colonists.
Oh, and I like Strike Team missions, particularly since I was never a fan of MP. I might give it a shot (played ME3 MP a few times) but I'm more story oriented.

hmmmm dunno where to ask this. How do I manually change my graphical settings? everything outside the auto-settings/low/medium/high/ultra and whats above it is grayed out o_O I want to lower my resolution to see if the game runs better. Change your settings to custom and then you can adjust all of the particulars. You also have to be in full screen mode. Hope this helps

Quality of life issues... I've gotten around to play it more now, and the worst part right now is the menu. One button click and i'm in the quest menu, but it takes hitting "esc" 4 times to get back in game. Also, I'm roaming around a planet hoping I come across what I'm supposed to do because the quest menu is a mess and I can't find stuff in there. It should have, at least be separated into "main quests, and location (planet, nexus etc)" I'm on this icy planet, but I can't for the life of me find the quests that I have active for it.
Please fix the menu.
Also, bug. After I laod the game, the abilities I have active is reset to the ones I had active during the trial. After being grabbed by one of the creatures that can grab you on the icy planet, and it's killed before finishing the animation. Ryder get stuck, can "jump", Which is about it.

I hope I sound civil in this. Here it goes. Please get a real save system working. Dying only to have to start over without the option to save is no good. Also the facial hair alignment and texture of the facial hair is just simply atrocious. Actually the entire character creation system needs one hell of a reboot, there is next to no freedom in customization. Need eyebrow options, eyebrow morph options, different facial textures, narrowing and shaping and sizing eyes, lip and lip textures, at this point just shove the sims character creation in there. Also, read the previous paragraphs of my fellow players upset about the treatment of the same-sex male romances. It's degrading to feel like an afterthought and you guys are far better than that, and I know I shouldn't be upset about it who rarely feels insulted, but here I am feeling that insult. And that dialogue, too many characters are unnecessarily stating the obvious to the point of tedium. I enjoy the game so far, but gods, it's a mess.

Was it just me, or did the Kett drop ships look a bit like the Pelican drop ships in Halo?

I had time to play until the nexus. I found setting that were playable for me on my horrible CPU, maybe I'm used to playing games on sub-par machines... The game looks like a potato at times, but as long as it works well on combat sections I'm not complaining. Anyway, coming after Overwatch, the game feel so smudged for some reason, like everything has a delay on input. It's a sharp contrast from the ME2 and ME3 where the input was very crisp. The story has very interesting bits but by god the Salarian governor gives it a very bad impression of: "Go to 6 planets, take them all to 40% viability" , like a laundry list of doing things, I don't think it is such a good premise, even if the Kett chasing you the entire way. The combat is fine, need to get used to the cover system though. Jump jetting and raining justice from above is satisfying, I just wonder if in Insanity we will be forced to cover or shot down real quick. The game is out in Israel on the 23rd. Whether I'm getting it or not largely depends on Eos. I'm conflicted ATM, the game does sometimes feel like Mass Effect, sometimes it feels like a half baked mod. Oh yeah, the CC sucks hard. And yeah the animation also bad at times but honestly it didn't bother me much.

SofaJockey note: This poster joined BSN to share the following detailed feedback with Tiberius but the thread-lock applied before their forum application could be processed. Welcome to the forum, littlemage .
HI! First of all, thank you so much for letting us share our feedback! I'm playing on PC, ultra settings, on a Nvidia 1070 and a last generation I5, with a pro-gaming ASUS. 1- Intro/menu. So evocative ... perfectly done. As soon as I opened the game I really felt home and I immediately got the vibes of the Mass Effect saga. 2- Character creator: well done on skin tones and color menu. However, the latter seems to respond a little slowly, not sure why (Note: after an NVIDIA driver update it works fine). Ryder's texture (especially hair's texture) seems to be a little flawed, but in my opinion it's a minor issue. In spite of these positives, I am sorry to say that the rest of the CC is not good: I really miss the ability to switch eyes, nose and mouth models. The presets are pretty darn ugly (sorry!)and I can't understand why we can't modify the default. It's true that we can change features' position and general face angles, but the tools at our disposal are very limited. And the modification bar is not wide enough! For example, even with the minimal settings for the lower part of the face I cannot obtain an acceptable face dimension, especially when I chose a small mouth and nose. Even when I set the eyes at maximum height, the forehead is still too high and cannot be modified. I had to pick one of the very few hairstyles that could cover the forehead (and, as we all know, the hair style choice is REALLY limited!). The only presets that seem not to have this issue are those of an Asian and of a African character. I am not making this remark because I am a racist (!). If I want to immerse myself in a game as much as possible I need to re-create myself on screen or to give form to my ideal of beautiful face. To me both have white skin because I am Caucasian (I have to wear 50 spf protection sunblock or else the sun will bake me ). I suggest: either to go back to the old "X number of eyes/noose/mouth models" or to increase (a lot) the range of measures of our face profile. I don't know whether this is possible at this point or not. Inserting some sort of face rescaling that works independently from eyes, nose and mouth parameters could do the trick as well. Like I said, the biggest issue I encountered is that my face was so darn huge. By the way, increasing the features' size is not really an option, given how the animation of larger mouths works. Another helpful addition would be a way to let us change the eyes' angle and to let us acces every skin tone with every preset. This would allow us to use Asian and African faces (who are mostly ok with the face size issue) to make Caucasian characters. Another negative note: my inital impression was that all characters that start from the same preset look very much alike. After the web release of the first custom Ryders I was not sursprised (but still annoyed) to verify that I was right: every single more or less good looking Ryder coming from the same preset is similar to all the others. This is because the final acceptable setting for each preset is limited to 1, maybe 2 parameter's ranges. For example you can't just run around with a nose at maximum hight and a mouth at minimum high unless you want your character to look like a monster. The fact that preset1 and preset5, and perhaps Preset 9 are considered (and for good reason) the best bases doesn't make things any better. By the way, preset9 is the one with the big face. Every customization that I saw on line has the same exact problem. This is a huge issue to me because I don't feel my character to be really mine. I don't feel like she has an identity and this problem really cuts down my identification, which I consider to be the most valuable thing in a Mass Effect game. 3- The game starts: "yup I am in mass effect again" feeling . 4- Dialogue system: I really like what you did here... Except that I don't understand why not all options are avaible in every dialogue, and sometimes when I click the option Ryder doesn't say what expected. For example, in a dialog at the beginning of the game the "emotional tone" leads to a "I don't like the sound of that" when she should REALLY have sounded more worried. I heard people complain about subtitles and I honestly can't understand why: Their size seem perfectly ok and I never struggled to read them. Their speed is fine too. The only negative note here (but perhaps you cannot help with that?) is that the translation into my language (italian) is sometimes poor, sometimes plain wrong. Sometimes I hear one thing and read another... and I feel that he original sentence would have been easy to translate and that part of the writing has been changed for no apparent reason. 5- Commands "with no armor": it is very sloppy. No idea if it feels better on a console controller but I kept hitting randomly walls and stuff when moving in small places. EDIT: after NIVIDIA drivers update everything is fine and I didn't bug myself into stuff anymore. 6- "In armor" movements: definetly better in bigger places, but when I got to pass thin roads I had troubles and eventually ended up falling...the ctrl system to walk past stuff is sloppy and uncomfortable at first and sometimes it bugs out. (EDIT: after NIVIDA driver update this happens way less) The jump system on the other hand is AMAZING. When I saw the previews I thought I would not like it, it just...seemed too much. Instead it doesn't feel out of place at all and I'm really enjoying myself jumping around Bug=when jumping on high rocks Sara can't often complete the animation of "going up" and ends up miserably falling on the floor again. This seems to occur really many times (my character fell at least 2/3 of the times. Yesterday I had to jump the same rock 5 times in a row to be able to keep moving xD). Another bug: going down from rocks sometimes causes poor Sara to remain stuck on the edge of it, with her feet flying on air. I had to commit suicide by throwing myself down the precipice to unlock xD 7- Combat: I have to say that usually I really hate action combat. I started playing from Mass Effect 1 and Dragon Age Origins; the more action both titles kept adding to their combat systems the more I was like "meh" and enjoyed finding enemies around less and less ...Indeed, this is not the kind of combat I like in a game, where reflexes and randomness completely overshadow strategy. And yet, I had fun. Like, real fun, all the jump around-run-cover-shoot-jump again that I thought I was gonna hate made me enjoy the combact a lot. If I, of all people, say that an action combat is fun you can be sure that it is xD. I'm playing at normal difficulty and it seems pretty much balanced. I didn't try it yet but I noticed in the menu the possibility of setting the difficulty to a "who cares about combat I play the game for its narrative" level. I have to say it loud: WHOEVER THOUGHT OF THIS DESERVES A MEDAL. This is gonna allow us to do so many more runs, even to just look at what happens if you do something different without taking the time of a whole standard run. There are guys at Bioware who thought about people who do so many runs that even if the combat is fun it gets boring. Since the combact, even in easy mode it's still a considerable part of the game people sometimes fell like "ah, I'd like to do a run in which I romance X and kill Y and make this fact happen.. and oh no, can't stand to do all that big fight against 10 banshee again" and now we have a solution. I LOVE YOU GUYS. (EDIT: got the time to try this mode too.. the combat is a total joke, I may as well stay afk under cover and my companion will manage to win it. PERFECT) 8- Graphic Ambient: I'd say it is perfect. I didn't found any bugs/glitches of any kind so far and the first planet I could see was really well designed with care to details and a good color spectrum. 9- General atmosphere: I just immersed myself in the universe. I like the tense beginning and the occasional banter that releases the stress here and there, especially in combat. So far I'd really say you hit the mark. 10- Animations: Not a surprising, I got completely disappointed by the facial animations. I see little point, however, in just jumping on the hate train that is around these days, and I'll just convey the feeling I got. I'll say this: I don't think animations are PROJECTED badly (the movements of the face seem generally well thought), however the execution...is lackluster at best. I honestly have absolutely no idea how specifically your animation system works, but I noticed this (I might be terribly wrong, idk ): various animation seems to have way different results based on the face parameters you used in the character creation (and, if my assumption is correct, I can see why the CC is so limited). As an example, you will know by now what is the most criticized image of Sara (hint: teeth almost reach the ears). Well, MY Sara didn't look at all like that on that particular scene: she had the normal expression one would have in that situation. Even in slow motion her face did not show ridicoulus grins or stuff like that. I think this was because my Sara's mouth width is about half of the default's. Then I ran into a cutscene that made me think this even more: an expression that on the default Sara seems pretty much normal (not great but.. human at least) and that consists in having her mouth slitghly moved up towards her nose turned my custom Sara's face into a grotesque balloon with mouth and noose almost touching at the center, in a completely unnatural angle. So, I came up with this theory: the facial animations system tried to give faces extreme expressions by moving the face exactly where the mimical muscles would be, in a sharp movement of the whole face... but it's not clear to the system where the muscles and the features of the actual character are. I'd assume it works best in a medium size face with medium setted parameters; if I have enough time left to my trial I will create a Sara that looks exactly like that to test my theory and then completely mess faces that have eyes/noose/mouth/chin in different positions. Default Sara is mostly ridicoulous when the animation requires her to enlarge her already big mouth and move parts near her big nose. My custom Sara (with jaw and chin set as high and as thin as possible but still a little too big compared to the small nose and mouth) looks mostly ok when she has to do enlarge her mouth, but when she is required to move her lips even more on the upper side or to make them smaller the face becomes a mess. Again, if my previous assumption is correct, I have a theory on why this happens: the skin between the mouth and the chin should move accordingly to the lower lip's rise but it doesn't...I assume it's because a medium sized face would have no skin in there (that place would be mostly occupied by lips..). Even if I completely missed the mark I hope to have helped you to understand the feeling that the amimation brings . If I hit the mark .. well, I have no idea of how the tech actually works but I really hope you'll come out with a way to fix the face movements. 11- General note: I really liked the balance between various elements so far. I identified 4 elements that can appeal to different people: main plot, characters writing, combat, open world elements. My opinin is really not that worth much at such early stage of the game; it could grow better or even worse.. anyway from what I've seen so far I think that this game has the potential to be the perfect mix of all elements. The plot is intriguing and made me curious (and I'm biased since I really don't expect to be disappointed plot-wise from a bioware game), the characters seem ok to be in the beginning (and again, my bias towards it being a Bioware game make me think they will be great as usual) the combat is fun, the open-worlds elements are there in a nice way. The first impression is that none of these characteristics overshadow the others and the game gives, on overall, a nice feeling with good immersion. All of that has at the moment a shadow over it given by techical problems of various kind and importance (from the poor CC and animation to the too frenquent glitches that interrupt fluidity), but I trust you guys to find a way to overcome these problems! This is not really a feedback but I think I should still say it...after reading the various info around atm regarding the number of your team and the budget you had at your disposal I think you guys did the job as great as you could. I think that if you had more time/resources/personnel on your side this would have been a perfect game, as every single thing that I didn't like is due to techical issues and solvable with time and tech. Keep up with the good work and thank you again for listening to us!
