I was curious about making the P.A.W, but you can see that the damage is low right in the stats so I avoided it. I'd rather just deck out an Avenger before I invest in that, and that's surprisingly good with the right augments. I almost regret not giving it the VHS.

I used the P.A.W. in its entirety during my first play through, never run out of ammo, able to mod it to be very powerful, don't use grenade mods, try plasma seeking. Lol.
It's a beast, don't use against shields.
One person treasure, another's trash.

For multiplayer:
The Zalkin. Definitely. It does zero damage (atleast on Silver) and its charge bugs out everytime. (Release mousebutton to fire but then it doesn't register that you pressed it again so you waste valuable time). It might be that it has its uses in other instances but I rather take nothing with me on a MP mission than the Zalkin.

PAW is brilliant and also firing mode change augments are bugged and will actually mess up your weapon. Use a PAW as it is and do not change the firing mode. This applies to all weapons.

PAW deals decent damage, good fire rate, & pinpoint accuracy.. even if you're bad at aiming, just slap some electricity on the gun & shoot away. on hardcore/insanity, you'll need to aim for headshots & synergize it with powers that improves weapon damage.. Enemies feels like bulet sponge on higher difficulties anyway.. or just use Black Widow/Isharay Sniper rifle & headshot them from range.. for me, pistols & SMGs are kind of disappointing.. |

The P.A.W. with the electric circuits augment or whatever the name is (makes gun shoot electricity) is ridiculously powerful. Even a P.A.W. II melts targets on Insanity left, right, and center.
I prefer the Sweeper simply due to pure bias as I love accurate, 3-shot burst weapons. But in terms of sheer output, an electric P.A.W. is crazy.

With Turbocharge maxed out, the N7 Valkyrie is unmatched for sustained damage. With Turbocharge, it fires exceptionally fast, and each two-round burst deals well over 500 damage as a rank V weapon. It's the only truly useful assault rifle I've used thus far. Almost every other AR I've tried is woefully outclassed at all ranges by sniper rifles -- especially the particularly overpowered ones, like the Black Widow.
For the thread's sake, a list of weapons to avoid should include pretty much every AR in the game aside from the Valkyrie, and maybe the PAW with the correct mods. Compared to sniper rifles, most pistols fall short, as well. The worst weapon I've used thus far is the Mattock.

Remnant Scatter Shotgun with Plasma Mod. This literally turns it into a glorified unlimited ammo Fireworks launcher. Good for killing visibility and perhaps even framerates  |

Off topic, but inquiring minds want to know - do you think Bioware named the bartender at the Vortex after you, Dutch? I'm new around here, but you seem to be...legendary. Well, the bartender is a generally stand-offish but ultimately harmless, even amusing guy who frequents a place that doesnt have anything to offer that he values, even though it had in the past, yet he still stays around, probably not really knowing why himself, just to belittle and annoy the regulars who do appreciate the new direction the place has taken, who just take it in stride and have accepted him as a strange, yet still loveable fixture of the little joint they like to hang out in, so i guess the shoe kinda fits. I doubt it though. While Bioware have a habit of putting forum stuff into their games, they havent done actual poster in a loooong time. On topic: Uhm....I dont find Plasma weapons to be that useful in general, i guess. By the time the bullet hits the enemy my powers have already cooled down twice. ^^ |

Off-topic, but while I'm thinking of it-- I notice the game has long since stopped dropping gear. I think it happened some time after I passed Level 60, but I'm not sure. Everything just got deconstructed, anyway. It's kind of a relief to not have to manage inventory. |

Imo, the Mattock is still a lot better than the other 'average' Rifles like the Avenger, Revenant, and such. It's a good early game pick, and a good lightweight rifle for power-hungry classes since it's weight is about the same as an SMG, while still super accurate even at long range with good (but not great) damage. To contribute to the thread itself, not a weapon so much as the Ricochet mod. Outside of weapons that are short range by default, it makes your bullets basically like a watergun under double gravity. I thought it'd be great because hey, if I miss it might bounce and hit the back, or hit something else. Then my Sweeper projectiles shot maybe five feet forward before hitting the ground and rolling like a ball of mercury. |

I only fired one I picked up, briefly, before deconstructing it. It felt almost right. I thought it might be good for chewing up armor, at least. I need to check out more weapons on my second run. colfoley , I naturally thought of you as soon as I saw the Valkyrie schematics in my R&D terminal. I went with the Sweeper because I got the materials sooner; and it needed no VHS augment, saving an open augment slot. The Valkyrie performs well and sounds awesome! |

Honestly though from the sounds of it my Valkyrie/ Valiant/ Black Widow/ some pistol Ryder that I will play next might just be able to tear through everything in the game. |

The Revenant isn't bad, but it vs the Mattock is like Apple vs Orange. I personally think the Mattock is a better weapon because it's more well rounded and universal; any class that isn't primarily focused on mid-range run-and-gun bullet hell can get good use out of the Mattock. The Revenant is the same as it was in ME3; a powerful, but heavy mid-to-close-range rifle. And it still does that job well. But unfortunately for it, it gained two new rivals in Andromeda for that role in the Cyclone and the Soned. Revenant doesn't have the wind-up of those two gatling guns, but it can't dare to match their RoF. |

Everything but the Sidewinder. I researched tier 4 of this pistol and named it ".357 Magnum". It has two damaged mods, a scope, and a heavy caliber magazine and I can now snipe with it and easily take down the big boys in a single mag. It is now the only gun I use. I can't speak to their performance, personally, but those Outcast weapons have cool designs. That pistol is especially nice looking. emeraldacid , does Vetra carry the Cyclone? I keep meaning to really check, but then the shooting begins... When she cuts loose with Turbocharge, wow! It makes me want to give the Cyclone a shot with my more "Soldiery" Favorite. |

I haven't really played that much with it, so maybe im wrong or missing something, but i thought the Crusader was bad. Not because of its damage or anything but because of its accuracy. Tried to shoot some baddie in the head from some distance with it, ya that wasn't happening. I was rather disappointed.

Yeah, I was glad to see that pistols were made great again in this game, they're light, accurate and pack a punch. I found the Phalanx, which is one of the weapons you get right at the start, and the Hornet to be really effective as mid-range-y weapons with still good DPS. I've been playing in Insanity since the start, currently level 40-ish and so far it's been a breeze, especially with the Infiltrator profile. I like some ARs for the same reasons, been using the good old Mattock too at first, but its damage didn't scale well imo, the Sandstorm is fantastic though. Tried the Valkyrie too, I feel like the 2nd shot it hard to control, getting 2 headshots is pretty hard with it, so it's not that good with an Infiltrator build, probably better with a Soldier one, once again my Sandstorm performed a slightly better than the Valk. Still a solid weapon though. I've found most Remnant and Heleus weapons to be underwhelming, I'm sure some of them are made to be paired with some special mods, but raw they're just not that good. Same thing for Melee weapons, they all feel kinda meh, I like the Asari Sword for the "extra dash" and the Remnant gauntlet for the Cryo effect, but that's about it. |
