Eh, as far as I am concerned as soon as you hit the age of 18 you are an adult since you are now eligible to join the military.

Well - I do not think they are kids at 22. And yes - I am old enough I could be able to say that (I am 62).
However - This game is about someone that has to take responsibility before his training was finished. That weight will make you grow older mentally fast - I know that all too well. Of course they do not have the "Shepard" discipline, because the whole operation is a civilian one, not a military one. That makes a huge difference.
I think it's refreshing to see a more lighthearted atmosphere in the game. It would be dull if they where copy nr.4 of the same "military super soldier that knows everything better" as seen in the previous editions. Nothing bad about that, but it grows old now. This is more someone that has to grow up fast and take responsibility when things go bad and I like that. You can argue if this is well fleshed out or not, but at least it's not the same old, same old.
All in all I see this game as a new (re)start of the series.

Well if we weren't, Drack wouldn't be able to call us all a bunch of Kids with great accuracy. No? Also, 22 is a kid? Most professional athletes are mid 20's. Even before they make it big. And don't get started on like... idk, Japanese games. Like any. (Age: about 18, but looks like 9.) (Age: 20~, but looks the stature of a 12 yo.) Age is not relevant imo. You should have started with, why are "inexperienced" people made as the Protagonist Well... they have the experience now, two Ryders will reap Andromeda for the greater good. And to poster on page one (edit, mb) OH YEA? Then why we doing emails still. I'm sure someone has some laptop modified with a mass effect drive somewhere.

Neither's as good as New Vegas, tbh. New Vegas is my favorite RPG of all time Final Fantasy was mine. Never played New Vegas, spent too much time enjoying FO3. Was good enough even without the rest. And now FO4? Naw, I had too much fun on 3! Mass Effect is the new RPG of my life (since 2007). FF15, too much "dark-ness"

I had enough of the always in charge, always in control character type after three games of Shepard. The writing is a breath of fresh air in the long years of ultra grim games that have come out, many of which I love! I'm playing Horizon at the moment, fantastic game but extremely overrated, and the writing is so....flat and kind of dull. I guess a lot of people lost their sense of humor these days.

I'm playing Horizon at the moment, fantastic game but extremely overrated, and the writing is so....flat and kind of dull. I guess a lot of people lost their sense of humor these days. I honestly don't know what it is. Just being on this thing we call the internet is more hassle then just ignoring it now. Everyone has a voice that wants to be heard, with a huge list of personal opinions attached to them. Every single game has a market and a fan-base attached to it. Nobody cares if it's as big a deal as someone wants, they are enjoying it in real-time while others sit and use their fingers to try and stand out? Every time I get a new game, I have to uninstall something on my PS4, the list of things I can remove is getting very small and I'm thankful ME:A is on it. SO thankful. Imagine people playing this on PS Now soon. I seriously hope not :/ I'm waiting for the next big Rockstar title to come our way. Until then Bioware captivates me. Used to be groups of people. Ones who disliked graphic quality in this day and age, ones who only PvP and criticise every aspect of a game. Don't like the story, don't like characters. Don't like animations. Now we have people who don't like any of it. My question is, why do you play games? (not you who I quoted! Every one who has anything negative to say about anything they them-self did not create) Idk, is a testy world we live in now. I don't think it's good. Horizon looks very good, as do other games. Like I haven't even played RE7 yet ._. (waited too long for ME:A)! So many new games just seem like different version of Dark Souls, and I'm not into that. That's my opinion, but I won't go off saying what I don't like about it. I will go off on people being nothing but negative Nancy's over things I enjoy, go somewhere else. We want fun, we want engaging. Not tedious nitpicking. I propose Bioware simply make a forum for Complaints Regarding Personal Opinions (Any Game) <--- click this forum. Out!

Was it really necessary to make a kid (kids)the main protagonist of Mass Effect? After the trilogy? Really? Why? Was the me3 end complains that originated this? Oh well. Since when was a 22 year old with a good personality considered a child? Do you need to be a super serious square to be considered an adult? I thought that "stick up my ass" thinking was mostly dying away with the baby boomers and radical, weird Republicans. since when? oh do not take my words a fact.. i think its maybe just the reason i consciously or not, as i said before don t connect to Ryder like i did with Shepard. And i am certain it is. For me. To me the best moment in game was when Alec took off his helmet to save his life. I have not played many hours i am to early in the game..but i ask myself if that moment was not the best moment in the all game.

Some other people will still be 22, when they are 50 years old and never grow up. Live is complicated and you can't generalize everything. The OP at the age of 32 should know that. 32? hey thanks...i earn my day already Oh and i m not generalizing i m just asking myself if that is the reason for me don t feel the same as i felt with Shepard. Simple as that. And in fact i am convinced it is.

It seems like the younger you are, the less real-world experience you've had, the less games you've played - the more you'll like Andromeda. For anyone else who's been here done that, it's obvious this game is very mediocre. You know, that is basically an "eloquent" way of saying: "You only like this game because you haven't played any good games and have bad tastes." Your statement also basically ignores the existence of any of the old fans that love this game. Also, that young people can play a very diverse range of games and often do.

Honestly, I'm 36 and I'm pretty tired of being a parent in games.
And let's face it, the main demographic for games is still males 13-35, and 22 falls directly in the mid-range.

Can I just say, I'm 41 and happy to see an older crowd gamers still playing. Every once in awhile the "am I too old to still be playing video games?" That pop in my head. However I don't feel any different, except more tired than when I was 25. I don't mind that the Ryders are 22.

For those who do not know why this is silly if meant as a serious statement, allow me to provide some exposition: the Warden is the voiceless protagonist from Dragon Age: Origins and has a constant blank look on their face. Only about two or three times in the entire game do the Warden's face become expressive and do their mouth open.

Look at that group selfie of the crew on the sofa. Looks like a sleepover. Or a cheesy, feel-good sit-com.
Definitely marketed to teens and early twenties.
The group photo in ME3 was an earned feel-good moment. This one is trying too hard.
Heart breaking, but we'll have to look elsewhere for serious games. Which is too bad, because Shepard was serious without taking himself too seriously. Not all grim Eastwood, but not a character on "Friends".

The Warden is in their early 20's, atleast if you play Human or any type of Elf. Alistair is aswell, and somehow you save Ferelden and even Thedas, yet no one complains about that. I don't know how this discussion is going, but I don't have a problem with teenage protagonists, I just hope that at least they act mature. Now, I haven't played the game yet, but some things (from the footage I've seen) do seem very cringeworthy. "Good meeting, everyone!". "Oh Sara", "Oh Scott". "I can't believe he's gone, one minute everything was fine..." The dialogue in Mass Effect got dumbed down, the protagonist's actions, reactions, the conversations, etc. "Any friend of yours is a friend of mine" - "Liara's in there!" - "The Council? The fight's here!" Example? In Mass Effect 2, the Illusive Man sends you to a disabled Collector ship, and at the same time he's explaining what to do, Shepard is already suspicious that he's lying, and responds accordingly (great delivery by both Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, by the way), even though you end up going to the mission. Later you get to call on his bullshit. That was a lot more reasonable (not perfect, sure, but acceptable), than what happened with Vasir or Maya Brooks. I mean, really, a spectre shows up from nowhere investigating an apparently normal police scene, or someone claiming to be Alliance, knowing a lot about your identity theft, and Shepard is all: "Ok, let's do what you say then" without even batting an eye. That's ridiculous. You can notice clearly the decline in dialogue quality from ME1, ME2 to its dlcs, to ME3. It seems to happen in this game as well (not all the time, sure). Now, I don't know who write all these dialogues (and I assume all get the green light from Mac Walters), but it's cheesy and cringeworthy as fuck. Maybe that's the difference. The Warden, or Hawke were all very young, but the dialogue wasn't dumbed down to the level of what Mass Effect came to do. The game is all light hearted and humorous, but it should be serious sometimes, or intelligent. Everyone arguing in the room while Jaal just sits there looking... even he saw how stupid these extragalactic aliens behave. Ryder should just told everyone to shut up and listen to him at the start of the conversation... Also, for the lols: FemRyder: My father is dead :) My face is tired: Alec is dead? :IFemRyder: :)

The group photo in ME3 was an earned feel-good moment. This one is trying too hard. Man, I remember all those pictures my family took of our good times together when we were in our twenties. Wait, actually we were a wide range of ages and did that to remember good times together. It's the same with me and my friends. I don't see why a group photo is wierd. They are friends that are having a good time together and wanting to remember that moment. That's not an age-specific thing. This crew has been through some serious stuff together as well. The game has even been building the crew as having a family relationship through banter and activities. Why is it wierd that they take a photo of a happy and relaxed moment? Also why is it wierd that they pose during it? That's what people tend to do in photos.
