And while animations look a bit stiff, the gameplay looks very solid and satisfying.

I admit I miss the melee/heavy melee that felt different for all characters. Heavy melee should make a comeback.

I maintain that Mass Effect: Andromeda suffers due to the fact that some of the some of the original developers are no longer on staff, also they are using a new engine as well, so older assets are more than likely usable. Then there is the possibly that melee cover grabs were removed for the sake of balance because one major complaint that persisted from day one of Mass Effect 3's Multiplayer's lifespan was that melee grabs made the game too easy. There were many a Geth - Gold - White matches that were cheesed by a team hiding behind counters snatching nearly every enemy that spawned from cover. The game is still very young so there is plenty of time to improve things.
Also as said Doctor Fumbles said more or less... Powers were better and often complimented one another. A lot of the biotic and tech focused characters do not possess powers that work together effectively. Again something that can resolved in time by changing the powers on character kits.

All of the variety is gone. Sad
No more quick, light melee (tap vs. hold button) No (Krogan) running pimpslap No 3-move chain melee Races/kits for the most part don't have unique melee animations, many are copied (this is a general issue with powers as well) NO OVER-COVER GRABS No head gib No "MUAHHAHAHAHAHAH POWER"
The Drell had more melee variety by themselves than this entire game does. How was that considered ok by the devs?

All of the variety is gone. Sad Variety is a big part of it. Wiz-bang jetpacks make all of the characters handle more or less the same, that was a point of differentiation that is almost completely gone. While I have seen people claim you can move so much faster in Andromeda, I don't think they remembered Drell or AIU's running Adrenaline 3's... nevermind that we had Adrenaline to buff movement speed. Weapons did seem a little weak at release of ME3, partly just because we hadn't leveled up manifests yet, but it didn't seem like there was quite the gulf in disparity. And in any case, power classes could go light weapons to essentially buff their power power damage via recharge bonus and become pretty useful quickly with bread and butter powers. Everything wasn't perfect in combo land of course, fire and cryo explosions were only on death and biotic explosions were relatively too powerful, but they did eventually address it.

You should stop watching and just go play a few games as I'm telling you for as long as I remember. It is also very immersive.
The game is free with Origin access.
Zombie mod and grenade defense are also free courtesy of Mgamerz.
It has asarigasm, quarian bumbum, falcon punch hatesurfing, real krogans, and a few hundred other things. Animations are OK at 60 fps and they are stiff because that video is probably 10 fps.

Melee is the least of my complaints for ME:A tbh
The most disappointing thing for me is the lack of variety in classes and powers. For example biotic powers:
ME3: warp, throw, pull, cluster grenades, lift grenades, reave, singularity, charge, nova, annihilation field, statis, dark channel, shockwave, biotic sphere, lash, smash (some are dlc but still)
MEA: throw, pull, singularity, annihilation, nova, charge, lance, backlash, shockwave
There are so many classes with just copy and paste throw and lance and then they all have complete garbage cooldowns.
I basically played me3 multiplayer almost non stop for the first 6 months and didn't want to stop. I played andromeda for about 3 weeks and am already bored of it.

While melee is not as viable I'd say, it's a lot more varied both in animations and different damages. Guns also sound and behave more differently to each other, and there's more feedback when you do things. Using a survival pack makes a distinct noise and animation for example, which is easily seen on that video. Ultrarares are worth it save exceptions.
I didn't play it from the start, but on its current state powers are actually good on the higher difficulties, you can even do games without guns on Platinum and it won't feel like a chore or grind. Power based classes are immensely more rewarding to play due to more variety of powers and their behaviour and animations too. Regarding melee, the animations are nice but they leave you too exposed most of the time, and it's easier to get synckilled due to the limited mobility in terms of distance you can clear away with the different dodges your kit has, and some kits can't even dodge. On the other hand, that also introduces more variety. There are many different animations for jumping over cover. Again, a few kits can't even do that.
I think that either because they rushed the game, laziness or ignorance they made very few things, and those they made are too similar to each other. Jetpacks don't help with that either. Something that it's not seen in that video is the dialogue. While it's "speciest" in the sense all members of a species say similar things and are heavily stereotyped, it feels a lot more immersive too. And the lines are better than "cover your butts" or "we win".
That said, MEA has nice little touches too. Like how the sound changes when you're inside a singularity for example. I still think it has a lot of potential. Time will tell.

How was that considered ok by the devs? Melee animations are very expensive, just like animating females. We all know Bioware and EA are poor companies being helt together by a shoestring budget. So instead of buying more flashy melee animations, the decided to be able to run the heaters in their building for 2 hours.

Much of the shit there is result of multiple MP DLCs that were released as the game evolved. Simply give it time. And yeah cover grabs and heavy melee were pretty good, but at the same time jetpack is pretty cool too and combo system is much better (although they need to fix the damage).

It only feels like less variety because there are a shitton more classes on MEA's release, and they all share the same power pool.

This except the same can be said for tech and combat powers as well. And the powers actually did something. Every power that has made it's way over the m:EA has been heavily nerfed in terms of damage and has like 3-4X the cooldown. Powers in me3 feel great to use and powerful and have quick cd's with the right guns. Powers in mea have long cooldowns and barely feel worth using when they actually are off cooldown. This doesn't only go for powers either, in me3 you have many viable weapons in every single weapon class and lots of weapons are great, you aren't pigeonholed into picking one or 2 guns all the time like in m:EA. I also played me3 for months non stop and I also have not played andromeda the last week, instead I went back and played some me3 instead (hadn't played since 2013 cause transfered to xbox one) and the game is just so much better except the movement but once you get past that which is just a matter of playing a couple of hours it's a vastly superior game.

It only feels like less variety because there are a shitton more classes on MEA's release, and they all share the same power pool. MEA should be an improvement over so should have more powers than me3 had. Maybe you could argue that they have the same amount but you can't argue that there of the same usefulness. You'd think that separate cooldowns would be an advantage compared to me3 but because our cooldowns are more than twice as long, I would way prefer shared cooldowns.
