At this rate we're going to need a stickied daily timetable for each day between now and launch. Starting to worry about missing some of this stuff

It would appear the information on the Mass Effect website is wrong. I just asked EA support on twitter and was told it starts on the 16th worldwide. Here's hoping. I feel sorry for the devs - everything's fine and they're enjoying the Jaal reactions and then suddenly there's hoardes of people contacting them about Early Access issues that might not even be a widespread problem save for the MEA site itself.

Been talking to Aaryn Flynn on twitter about this issue. He seemed completely unaware of it and is chasing it up. Tried to send him a link to the german Origin site to show what it says, but I think it might have just been the UK site in German - not that it makes any difference; UK site also says 16th, not 18th, so who knows.
If it isn't the 16th worldwide, there's been a massive massive miscommunication with many official channels.

So it's just emerged with little fanfare that us players outside the US won't get Early Access until the 18th. This infuriated Brit humbly requests a metric ton of custom SisRyders as soon as our cousins accross the pond have access

I'm not even mad that it's a thing. I'm mad that they waited until it was three days beforehand to slip this out - not even a proper 'announcement' So even our 100% digital 'early' access is impacted by living in the wrong place

Assuming it isn't today, seeing as we've had a couple of videos already, and with Early Access starting on Thursday, that means there's a 50% chance we're getting it tomorrow? Right?

Soooo both today's ESA Science video and IGN First video on Jaal both feature just Scott, aside from a split second shot of Sara in the Jaal video that seems as good as accidental in it's inclusion. That trailer can't come soon enough

While the Ryders do technically have set ages, I doubt it would really break the lore if you decided to mentally age them up by ten or even twenty years. ME1 confirmed human life expectancy is about 150, so there wouldn't really be anything to stop you roleplaying Alec Ryder as being in his 70's with the twins in their 40's.
Just wonder whether we'll have complexion options to make our Ryders look as old as DAI let your Inquisitors be. Those options were... something.

Really? Because Ian mentioned that using augments has to be strategic. Do you want to put it in my level one or should I wait until it's level 5. Pretty sure you won't have that issue if they can be dismantled back. So basically, mods >> the weapon/armor upgrade slots in Inquisition augments >> masterwork slot (with a bit of the rune slot) It certainly seems that way. Having watched the video where they talk about things being strategic, I was rather surprised to read that we get materials and augments back from dismantling, but it's right there in the guide book (again, the page was put up as a preview by Prima themselves, so this isn't some sort of leak), and it directly mentions being able to get augments back using this method as a reason to experiment. Full text is as follows: 'Deconstructing an item that's been augmented refunds all augmentations on said item, so don't be afraid to experiment with unique augmentations!'It then goes on to talk about the materials required to craft items, and that said materials are also added to your collection when you break the item down for deconstruction. Whether it's 1:1 on the quantity of said items isn't made clear.

Mods and Augments are different things.
Mods seem to be more simple things that can be attached and removed at will, and most weapons appear to have two slots for these, based on videos we've seen. I'm thinking they'll work the same as ME3 - barrels, ammo increases, etc.
Augmentations are the ones with sometimes big effects like the Vintage Heat Sink that have to be 'baked in' when you craft new gear. And while yes it does appear you only get one 'free' augmentation when you research it, according to one of the preview pages of the Prima Guide, when you dismantle a weapon you get back both the materials and augmentations that went into the gun. So if you crafted a Rank 2 gun with an augmentation, and wanted it to carry over to your Rank 3 version when you craft it, all you'd need do is dismantle the Rank 2 version first to get the augmentation back.
Plus, as is mentioned in the video above, you can still find more of that same augment out 'in the wild' once you've researched it - whether that means it only drops as loot, or can be found being sold from vendors, remains to be seen.

ngl, I'd already got the male version chopped up in Sony Vegas with his dialogue digitally removed from the audio, ready to drop Sara into it once I'd recorded a playthrough with her after release. This is much easier

The fact you get augmentations back from dismantling gear seems like a really fair way of dealing with the fact you only get one of an augment for researching it. Means you can happily apply it to a Rank 2 gun, then dismantle it to get it back when you craft the Rank 3 version.
IF the guide is accurate.

This does happen with teams that work on projects and such...software development and the like...but still very sad. After this, they probably will only need smaller teams for DLC and patches. Hope they can find something in the way of work soon. Finally finishing a huge project like this...then...boom, it's OVER. Out the door, stuff boxed up, and you are done. That's got to be the absolute most soul-crushing thing :/ Like, this is nothing new for the industry, but it must be so so awful to see all the imminent release fanfare for something you put years of effort and work and yourself into, knowing you've basically been kicked out as soon as you're done. I hope none of them harbour any resentment towards the project or their colleagues still at BioWare over this, but damn I wouldn't be able to blame them one bit.

I get irked by this kind of thing not for myself, but for those who have never played a Mass Effect game before. For those who will see Andromeda advertised on TV and brush it off as another generic shooter with a lead character who doesn't look like them.
As I said before, a more casual potential fan isn't going to go looking this kind of thing up online or sit through gameplay demos. These trailers are the only window into the game they'll have, and the insistance on using Scott in every single one completely masks the freedom players have with their player characters.
While I choose not to make characters that resemble myself anyway, even if I did, I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to shooters featuring stubbly white guys who look like me. But what about a young asian guy who never sees himself as the hero in these kind of franchises? What about a black woman who almost never gets to feel like she can be the protagonist? Games like Mass Effect have the ability to empower those who are otherwise never featured as the heart of epic big-budget stories and are routinely & unfairly shoved to the sidelines. Maybe I'm getting too poetic about it, but to those who don't have a monopoly on representation, this kind of thing matters a lot.

I think I've mentioned this before, but I remember one of the videos for ME2 that actually mentioned Shepard was fully customisable, and yet despite stating it, that narration played over footage of default male Shepard in the default armor in the default colours.
Mass Effect's ability to let you play as anyone you can imagine should be one of it's biggest selling points; women and people of colour can be the lead character in an epic sci-fi adventure, something that's still depressingly rare in 2017, and yet the mainstream marketing that gets the most exposure - the trailers - don't even hint at this.

Why does it matter how they promote the game? You know it, I know it, she's in the game, you can play as her and she'll be great. I'll play both Ryders, have multiple pts per Ryder. This doesn't affect me at all, the lack of Sara GE trailers doesn't make her an inferior option. Because knowledge of the game's systems and mechanics cannot be inferred from these trailers. They're not marketing to us - we're already going to buy the game. Trailers like this are a chance to expand the playerbase, and using Scott as much as they are, with no indication that Sara is an option or that your character can look however you want, makes Andromeda look no different to a whole host of other sci-fi shooters on the market. Every time a new Mass Effect game comes out, you hear stories from people who ignored the previous game entirely because they honestly had no idea character customisation was a thing. It's not their responsibility to research in depth every game they see advertised and sit through gameplay videos featuring the back of Sara's head, it's the responsibility of the marketing to represent the experiences the game has to offer. MEA's trailers present the same bland straight white guy that countless other games, shows and movies do, with no indication that anything else is an option. We're not asking for Sara to dominate the game's mainstream marketing; we're asking for her to have an equal place in it.

Sara is the only character with funky animations / has a 'man jaw' / isn't bangable enough Cora looks like a man / looks too old / looks 'too feminist' Peebee looks like Shrek / isn't Liara Vetra isn't Garrus Lexi doesn't look like her VA
For every female character in existance, there is criticism from guys who don't get that they're not being tailor made for them.

So today alone, we've had the game's official Launch Trailer, the IGN Tempest Tour, and the first 1-hour Twitch Stream with Scott.
At this point I think we've moved well beyond anything people could still claim is 'equal' and into downright favoritism.
And don't even get me started how on the twitch stream - with four male presenters - we get 'jokes' about Peebee jumping on Scott and "who would want to push her off?"

I think Bioware made a decision to show Scott in cinematic and story trailers, while Sara in gameplay and combat trailers. But why?
Why deliberately choose the male character for the trailers that will get played on various platforms - TV, youtube ads, movie theatres - and relegate the female character to gameplay videos that far far fewer people will ever see, in which she'll appear with her face obscured. I cannot believe for a second that such a decision was made purely by chance.

What I don't get is how people think asking for Sara to appear in one trailer is unfair.
People aren't angry because she isn't appearing in every piece of marketing, they're angry because she is legitimately appearing in less of it than Scott, who is now three for three in the cinematic trailers. It's almost like people think women wanting an equal share is no different to them wanting it all to themselves.
Oh wait that's exactly what they think.
