Shepard could be a mentor while still being the main character in ME4. A new squadmate joins the roster. During the game, Shepard takes time to talk with the new guy/gal about stuff in between missions. This new character could be setup to be the main character for ME5. The only issue is Mike if they bring Shepard back as the PC I can’t see people jumping for joy at having Shep taken away again to have another Ryder situation.See I liked Ryder but unfortunately Ryder was a massive disappointment compared to Shepard all around. Well, I would say that depends on whether the new "guy" is lame like Ryder or bad ass like Shep.

Hmmm...does anyone feel like we had a "proper" ending? We did have a proper ending. An ending doesn’t need to be a happily ever after in order to be a proper ending. Shepard’s story was about stopping the Reaper threat, and they achieved that with any of the three endings. By proper I meant not dumb.

Indoctrination theory leaves the trilogy without a proper ending. Hmmm...does anyone feel like we had a "proper" ending?

Destroy while not a clean ending at the very least ends the Reaper threat and allows people the chance to rebuild and start again albeit with great hardship and with Edi and the Geth paying the ultimate price. Freedom with a cost.

Merely because it clearly wants you to chose Synthesis. It rambles on about the cost and consequences of Destroy and Control then sells you on a grand utopian resolution...it's the pretty flower of a lethal plant. And yet sometimes it only presents Destroy. Again, why would it tell you how to kill it and ruin the cycle it has been running for at least a billion years? Which coincidentally has you damaging the thing made to do that. Overall, If it’s lying about one option it’s lying about all of them. I could accept that it is lying about it all...Shep could just be hooked up like Neo in the Matrix and it's just a sim to gauge how you'll respond. Why shoot a tube...grab some power rods...jump into a power conduit? It's all allegorical...stuff manufactured in the subconscious.

I've always argued to the Synthesis crowd that it was merely trying to manipulate us. Why wouldn't a super AI - albeit one with circular logic - lie, use every nasty tactic there is to turn a million civilizations into Reaper paste? Setting aside any potential pros and cons to arguments for other choices, destroy was simply the safe way to go to preserve the current civilizations. And how do you know that Destroy isn’t the deception? After all if it would lie about what it wanted, it would absolutely lie about how to kill it. Merely because it clearly wants you to chose Synthesis. It rambles on about the cost and consequences of Destroy and Control then sells you on a grand utopian resolution...it's the pretty flower of a lethal plant.

Having beaten ME3 a couple of days ago, I was thinking afterward that since The Catalyst can potentially withhold Synthesis from Shepard, Bioware could use the fact that it was seemingly duplicitous to undo some of the ramifications of the endings, by saying it lied to Shepard about the specifics. The thing is, I doubt this could be really executed well. The only thing I can think of is that it might have lied to Shepard about the consequences of Destroy (not the mass relays, obviously, but all synthetics dying out) because it had a fondness for the Reapers and didn't want to see them go.

You're wrong about a couple things. 1. The trilogy does not establish that. In fact it establishes the opposite since Reaper drives do not fall under that limitation. No doubt the Reapers just made it seem as such to limit a cycle’s engines making them easier to trap. 2. About half the stars in the universe are believed to exist in the Dark Space between galaxies. 1) Reapers are literally millions of years more advanced than the Milk Way races. And given the AI predates the trilogy, they didn't even have a Reaper to try and reverse-engineer. (not that they would have had anywhere near the time to duplicate such a feat on the Nexus, let alone shrink it down enough to fit on the Tempest. 2 Space is BIG. Like, really really BIG. Dark Space even more so. And totally unmapped. Yeah, charting a path to take advantage of stars between the MW and Andromeda would be impractical regardless...cannot even begin to guess at how many additional thousands of LY's it would add to the trip.

Honestly I would rank it:
MEA > ME3 > ME2 > ME1 Me too...the only caveat I'd add is that I ultimately enjoyed ME3 more because of the enemy variability (that banshee scream was deliciously horrific). MEA would have been perfect if there had been more uplifted MW species...and more MW species present to work with too.

Where Andromeda failed for me is that it asked us not to take on the role of explorers, but settlers. Yeah I felt like the AI was more hippi commune than a group of highly trained settlers/explorers...even if we were able of seeing in real time 2.5M light years with enough resolution to determine biomes of each planet, a dumb idea that far breaks suspension of disbelief, and which for me broke the story before I even began.

If she doesn't, ME is gone for good. No question about it. I don't agree. Why I say that is because of the remaster. What are the chances the next game will be a remake of the trilogy? At this time, probably 0%. If the game doesn't do well for whatever reason, a remake might be the way to go. It would bring in a lot of new players. Players who played the original trilogy will buy. No idea how many of them will. A remake may end up being better than the original. What if the next game brings Shepard back? It will likely do well. If it does poorly, I would still believe a remake could right the ship. I agree. I'm on the fence as to predicting either way whether ME-next will do well simply because the impression is they're going to tie the Milky Way and Andromeda arcs together. That's quite the clusterf*ck to untangle and weave into viable story. I think story and well thought out companion interactions are what will make or break the next game...not massive exploration or good combat...even though I appreciate the latter quite alot and the former not at all.

I would guess that information came from spacemagic.com Sounds likely. Then again, there's no such website so if that's the source we can conclude it came from nowhere. It's in a quantum state with another universe...therefore it's inaccessible. Entanglement's a bitch.

Seeing as BW finally has a competent writer, Mary DeMarle, who will be acting as senior narrative director for the next game. I can say wholeheartedly I'm actually excited to see what she will do. I hope they'll finally just make destroy canon, and we can move on from there. A story about rebuilding the MW would be cool. It could be about different groups factioning off vying for power. It could be more of a dark underbelly tale. Shep has to fight the merc gangs, pirates, and slavers trying to keep order. There's a plethora of different ways they can approach what's next with Shep, and they finally have someone with the creative know how to potentially do it. Had to look her up. I loved all the old Myst games but I have to say I wasn't particularly impressed with the writing in the Deus Ex games so we'll see how she executes under a Bioware format. Here's hoping she nails it.

I mean, I chose Blue once too. Because Socrates told me to. Me too, once...I blame it on the devil though. Like you, I wouldn't be a good Reaper Boss. I'd start off with the absolute best of intentions but then...I hate the way that religion treats people, I hate how women are put down, I hate how gays are treated...and so on. I'd be a freaking dictator before you know it. And if you didn't comply? Well, I can obliterate you pretty easily. Can you even imagine a Renegade Shepard under Control? Dark days. For sure. Maybe initially with my friends still alive I might be on my best behavior but after an eon or two watching organics abusing one another I'd have to asume the role of "benevolent" dictator. It wouldn't be pleasant for those who disobeyed.

Remember this chart? Notice it doesn't include the endings. I remember there was a different one that did include ending decisions...one that disappeared. But maybe what I recall were polls from old BSN on who chose what. Whichever it was Destroy was far and away the highest choice among players.

That's my point. We don't know what they include in the count. Both the first ever choice and accumulative numbers can lie. What about reloading a save and playing the final part again to see how the different endings pan out? That's what I also did on my first playthrough. Can they somehow detect that the different choices were from the same playthrough? Way back when they were fairly explicite that the data only included the first playthrough.

Original. MELE didn't offer enough incentives to replace my 360 copies. Then Destroy should be most popular by all accounts. More popular by far. Someone said that changed in MELE but I don't know the source of that information. Indoctrination, er, I mean Synthesis fangirls and boys.

I'm fine with a MP component. ME3MP was great and MEAMP was decent...the latter simply didn't evolve to account for all the mobility...they shouldn't have sandboxed us like they did in ME3MP...should've have been more linear in design with various checkpoints and objectives. I did like be able to earn rewards in the SP for completing MP missions...that was nice. If the teams are largely kept separate there's no reason both cannot be done well...but I do think SP needs to be done well. If the SP is good I think people will naturally migrate to the MP. I also think MP in a ME universe is much easier to accomplish than in a DA world. My 2-cents for what it's worth.
