Mmm i dont remember any sidequest with different outcomes , maybe because i was sleeping due to boredom in all of them . Maybe what i really ment is that when u finish them you feel like "meh" because of the hyper mega awful writing wichever the outcome there is. One example i remember now is the IA from the ice planet, so bad, so cringe... But if you enjoyed them good for you, i wish i could have enjoyed the game too. IA? AI

I liked that one personally. It feels like a small piece of a larger puzzle. Hmm actually now that I think about...

Praising side-quests and that is reason enough to deflect criticism away from the general writing of MEA?
Well, if the world of Mass Effect: Andromeda was to well put together in the first place then there wouldn't be a compelling need to point out the "side questing" in the first place as some standard that people should adhere to.
Side-questing in RPGs was always about finding out new things to involve yourself with in current game world...not about shoring up weak-points for the generic writing of the core.
Better analogy; A cake.
1. Main storyline and writing and presentation/development of the game world is the base cake...but no icing. Generic cake. Nothing added. 2. Side-quests are the icing on the cake.
It doesn't matter if you have the best damn icing on the planet...if the base cake is a melted slop...then that icing isn't really going to save it. Your going to take your money elsewhere.

Your going to take your money elsewhere. Again in this thread and others I have complimented the game's writing. The game is very strongly written. At least from a story standpoint. Honestly better anaology. The icing on the cake looks like crap (icing, decorations, etc.), but damn if the cake is not tasty if you can look past it.

Well, perhaps you and others have, but there are a lot of other people who are on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I gues I am one at that end of the spectrum, story is ok, but the writing... well, I gues if someone likes hangover, bridesmaids or well... shadowhunters, I gues then the writing is good.

Gues that is not so important . The writing (humor, romances, how the story works out, choice of words in general) just reminds me of the two movies and the Shadowhunters tv-show.... especialy the show, Vampire Diaries (another tv show) is very similar. I gues it is because both shows and the game is about very young people, very early 20s, who become "heroes".... I think this kind of writing is typical and standard for todays "youth". Powerfull on the one side (Ryder kills everything left and right like stomping ants) but then acts very stupid on the other (Archons ships comes to mind here like instantly, the second I opened the door and got attacked I knew: when I arrive at Archons room, that is going to be a trap and most likely the squad will get immobilized... and gues what happened. And then the resolution of the problem.... Ryder killed by SAM and the revive do not even work on the first try, no, they have to try to increase the drama by taking it what, like 3 revives by SAM, before it works? Ouch. Yah, pretty much Shadowhunters ^^. I get all this "not enough experience yet" but that is borderline stupid.

And yet, Andromeda gets a lot of flack for its writing? Why? Well one reason is because there is some elements of poor writing here and there. The romance dialogue can come off especially cringy...but I think its mainly because its different. Its something new. And its something that forces you to play it because there are so many hmm moments which paints a larger picture in the game, and maybe even for future games. So many lines that are like 'well that's intersting, so that is what that means, what does that mean?' and there is a lot of payoff in the game, and a lot I hope in future games. BAnd all this comes together at the end of the game, the ending, if you put the effort in and play the game, the ending feels special. Your hardwork is reflected. Exactly like some of the best tv shows. Side Quests of the exact type in Mass Effect Andromeda is not new. They've been in everything from Morrowind to Baldur's Gate and even before that in the Ultima series. People criticise the side quests because many of them are run-around quests and do this X times quests that you would normally find in an MMO as timesinks. We don't need timesinks and fetch quests in our single player game, there isn't a subscription fee running in the background.

Even jon snows resurrection took awhile.
