Mass Effect 2 really does have pretty good graphics for a five year old game. ME3 does as well. I've learned Andromeda's Alpha graphics might have been decent as well from a couple videos I've seen. Have fun folks! Mass Effect 2 looks pretty epic with 4k texture mods. I don't know WTF they have done to the Frostbite engine. It's pretty much the best game engine in existence when it comes to visuals and performance. Yet other Frostbite games look 3 times as good and run 3 times smoother.

I like this comparison better... A huge development team? have you any proof that bioware montreal is that huge, its their first triple a game. Also it makes me laugh how many people seems to think that cd projekt because they are independant, suddenly it makes them a small studio. Yeah its a small studio of 370 EMPLOYEES, its just as big if not bigger than many other triple a studios and they have the funding of the polish the government, combine this with the fact that the costs of living of poland is way lower than the ones of canada, so any money invested in the witcher 3 give thems more ressources because they can pay their employees far less than bioware has to do. Just a reminder of the average income by months in the world and when you compare poland (1055 dollars) to canada (4 247,5 dollars) : major-prepa.com/classements/salaires-moyens-du-monde/Its like people seems to think that because its EA's money, that money is worth more and that EA could spend the same amount of money on an rpg and somehow make it profitable despite having to pay bioware employees way more.

I call these two videos in question: When I first saw this, I didn't expect the game's graphics to be exactly like this, much like I didn't expect ME3's in the Take Earth Back (Take Back Earth??) trailer (though ME3's problems were far bigger in comparison). The thing that concerned me more was the jump jet and how that mechanic would actually work in-game, as well as that melee-from-above move the character makes at the end. I was pretty glad to see that both things were actually implemented rather well.

I like this comparison better... CDProjekt aren't a "couple" of independents, though, they were a decent sized studio when they started development on Witcher 3, and their budget was double that of the budget for ME:A.

I call these two videos in question: Then compare to the graphics we have now... Edit: These graphics are partly what sold me on this game. Not this Sims 4.5 MEA edition version we got. Was... uh... was Andromeda the first video game you ever saw a trailer for? Not to mention that they are both clearly overly cinematic trailers, the first was released in 2015. Two years before the game's release. I bet you were real disappointed when Mass Effect 3 didn't look like this: Or Fallout 4 didn't look like this Or The Witcher 3 didn't look like this If those were the trailers - that far in advance that were clearly overly cinematic trailers (which by the way, many companies do) - are a big part of what sold you on the game perhaps it would have behooved you to continue watching the trailers as they were released to see more or less what the game was actually going to look like. Either way, Bioware has ALWAYS used cinematic trailers for their games. Did you never watch the MMO Star Wars The Old Republic cinematic trailers? That's clearly never what the game was going to look like. I don't think it's the best practice in the world, but I know in advance of them that's not representative of what the game is going to look like but they look great to watch. I'm sorry that those trailers are what sold you on Andromeda. However, I'd question that you didn't just intentionally deceive yourself. Either that, or you have never followed a video game before. You're free to look on Youtube at any number of video games that release cinematic trailers

Maybe it is not exceptional graphics by todays standards, and I don't have any screen capture skills, but I've liked what I saw, and it made me dream, all the stuff like... or this... or even just this... to each their own.

Wasn't the character/face model engine changed or something as to why the beta looks way better then what we got? Seems like they aimed to high with the new engine that is why it turned out worse to me.
I also recall Mac Walters bragging about new facial animation engine really showcasing emotions this time around. Again, backs up that they aimed too high, just like other things in this game, an unrealistic goal that obviously was never going to be meet in time. So it fell flat on it's face giving us tired face animation graphics.

Which does not mean anything, they had many creator leaving during development which makes the list bigger, and the credit itself can be extended with many means, like a slow paced or if they do actually speaks of everybody, sometime they don't. For exemple for a long time, they never showed the name of the foreign voice actor that did the french, spanish or italian version, it was only the english voice actors. Some name can also be shown on credits and its someone that barely work on it. There are so many variables to take into account that no, the credits time are is meaningless.

And people wondered why they closed the old bsn. Because the moderators weren't there. Period. There was no intermediary. There was no liaison. If there was, they were freaking invisible. Vonuber, I understand where you come from, but shaming is a whole lot better than being told you're awesome and great. That only leads to hubris and catastrophic failures in trust. The old forums were totally mismanaged and getting help there was a whole lot easier than going blind at EA Answers (from the customer base who figured it out. EA = Resolved.) I would come to the forums looking for artwork to make as my desktop. I would go to the forums to add my two cents as a customer. Sometimes it gave me a platform for crappy fan fiction that was just a love letter in disguise to the Bioware staff that made a certain product or aspect. You're going to have the "junkies" like me, who are completely pissed that they bought bunk instead of the good stuff. Either way, a well managed forum will control the tone and intent and still keep business decisions behind closed doors. Vonuber, in my experience, that's a cop out. That's cowardice. That's not having the guts to say that they stand firmly with their art. Of course, if you treat it as a commodity, it all makes perfect sense. Also, Vonuber, I'm not attacking you. I just wanted to sound off on this. Please don't feel like you're under attack. That wasn't my tone or intent. If it did come off that way, I'm sorry in advance.

This...I heard that early beta (the one with Drack dangling that guy over the edge?) was done with the Un-Real engine while that current version was done in Frostbite. I keep hearing that the Frostbite engine itself is great tho. So maybe this has more to do with the talent of the staff in general rather than the engine itself?.
