True. I am vastly oversimplifying, of course. Product line management is a tricky business. Also don't kid yourself about the good old days. Businesses were just as short-sighted and greedy in the 1900s 1800s 1700s you get the idea as they are now. Greedy yes but the object of the game in those times was to build a business and make a lot of money from the products you created long term, then pass the business down the line. Now the object is to make your business profitable enough for someone else to buy you out for a huge amount of money. And for the larger entities it is to boost share price so you get a rich from your short term incentives. People still try and apply old world economics to the new paradigm and they are not the same. Wisdom.

while the Mass Effect series itself has been put "on hiatus."Good bye Mass Effect. That is how I took it. I do wonder though, how many people are EA customers like me. I had to call EA support to get them to reset my password to Origin because I hadn't logged in for years (since I stopped ME3MP). Because of EA policies, I stopped buying EA products a long while ago on principle. But, I had to have the Mass Effect games. If mass effect does indeed go away, EA will no longer get my money.

Yeah, but it's not actually "news" as that would involve something new about this information. B4 ME:A was ever released the devs were publicly warning that no new ME titles were going to be jumped on after ME:A release and they wouldn't even speculate about whether future ME titles would be direct sequels to ME:A or not. We now with complete certainty that they already had locked down a new Star Wars with Disney and that they knew they would be focusing their resources there, because Star Wars is EA's biggest money maker. This only seems like news, because not many were paying attention then AND those that heard ignored it because of wishful thinking.

ME makes money for EA too, so there will be future ME title, but that won't come out for 3-5 years, because they won't start dev until Star Wars and their new Destiny-like are on firm footing.
Nothing remotely perturbing about this.

I feel you. I'm still waiting for Masters of Orion 3 to be fixed and MOO4 to come out.
