SJWs I was ok with animations that could be fixed, i was ok with weak script, but when i saw female charactors, cmon??? where is my beauty queen to romance? and final nail in the coffin was krogan female running the clan. Lore was destroyed, it was not Mass Effect. So let the studio burn with all SJWs that are working there. I can bring some firewood.

Five years man, they had five years. EA would have been negligent if they didn't call time on such an awful development cycle. Bio spent time and money (a lot of both) on ideas and concepts that flat out got binned and a new direction chosen midway through the process. Edit - The rest of your post, I absolutely agree with. People keep saying 5 years but how much of that was spent on actually developing the main parts of the game we have today. They had to build everything from scratch on the new engine. They completely redid animations in terms of gameplay, combat, etc. nothing is the same from the original Trilogy in terms of core gameplay animations. They experimented a lot with procedurally generated worlds. And they had higher leadership change in the middle of it. The current game we have now, which takes about 80-120 hours to beat mostly everything has probably been in development for about 3 years. The writing and main story has probably been there since the start but they ran out of time having to rely on algorithms for animations to account for 1200 speaking characters. They should have released it in May or June. Scores would have been anywhere from an 8-8.7, maybe even a few 9s. They would have still be haters but the positive reviews would have drowned them out. The internet buzz about glitches and animations would have never been a factor and sales would have been much higher. It was also a poor decision to knowingly release the game in its state after it competition had such high praise. Waiting until May or June would have allowed it to be the only big AAA game being release right now and the buzz about Zelda, Horizon, Nier, , Nioh, Persona, etc would have died down. Very poor business decision on EA's part I also thought to redo all the Mass effect assets in Frostbite was what led to the time crunch. would have ben easier and much quicker to just upgrade to Unreal 4 and port assets from MA1-3. But that was brought on by EA's Mandate to have all game studios use Frostbite as they don't want to pay royalty fees to Epic and other game engine devs. Although they still use Hero Engine on SWTOR. I would not be surprised if the conversion to Frostbyte took up most of the development cycle.

I don't know between EA and Bioware but whoever it was that decided to take the ME out of an ME game. Had they packaged this game under a different IP, it probably wouldn't have been so bad. But when you say you're making an ME game, it comes with some built in expectations and if you don't meet them, it's gonna cost you.
Not being able to make the characters look the way you want. Realizing that your dialogue options make no difference in the story. Having a potentially good story but poorly delivered. Why call it ME? Why even give players a character creator and dialogue options? Just give it a different IP and a predefined character like Witcher 3 and let it go.

Its mostly on Bioware and EAs fault. I do agree that the vitriol hatred over the net was a bit too much, and childish tbh. But it would have faded if the final product was up to the par, which it wasnt, really. And them rushing it out the door unfinished and unpolished was just asking for a bloody nose, which oh boy did they get and then some. I have no idea who tought that was a good idea, probably some brainless execs at EA.

Small summary from trilogy taken from Wiki: Female krogan rarely leave their home worlds, focusing on breeding in an attempt to keep krogan numbers from declining too quickly. The few remaining fertile females who can carry young to term are treated as prizes of war, to be seized, bartered or fought over. Recently, it has been noted that the females of the krogan species live in clans separate from that of the males. Envoys are sent out from the female clans to determine who amongst the males is worthy to visit the female clans. Due to the effects of the genophage and the lack of fertile females, this happens often and many male krogan sire children from one female. Krogan females also appear much more level-headed than males; 'the brains to their brawn,' so to speak. Krogan children are raised within the females' camps. On occasion the females send them over to the males for training. If a male wishes to claim his offspring, he can request the right of parentage. According to Eve, however, krogan do not name their infants very well: the males get drunk on sovak juice and have belching contests. Whatever happens to sound like a word becomes a name.

there are enough lore errors without having to make up new ones
Salarian eyebrows are the big one for me since it is just so emblematic of the game overall.

I picked everyone as I believe that there were multiple factors involved in putting MEA on the shelf for a time. But I can't help but feel that some of the press, some of the criticisms, some of the negative reviews were a tad over-the-top, over stated, and bordered on unfair. Note I am indicating that it was some and not all.. I think the negativity probably played a reasonably significant role. I really hope that those of us who enjoyed the game and want to see more aren't forgotten.

The truth is consumers are responsible, or more precisely consumers who didnt buy the game for any reason. A reality every developers owned by big publishers must realize by now. Bad review + good sales. No problem, lets launch one every year. Great review + horrible sales. Roll a D20 against a DC25. Bad review + horrible sales. Go kill yourselves on that wall please

It's EA/Ware, one in the same. Take your pick, it doesn't matter. That's assuming the rumors to be true. Even if the rumors are false, you get the same answer.

You can't garner everything from the wiki the games themselves show the power and respect of the females. Krogan females are males that have eggs instead of testicles. They're tough as a male. Eve, appropriately named, didn't inspire fear and intimidation like her male counterpart, Wrex. She inspired confidence and strength in character. She didn't have a big part in the overall trilogy, but I appreciated her writing enough in that losing Mordin was acceptable... barely. I hated losing Mordin, but you know... he had to do it, someone else would've gotten it wrong. It was the most bittersweet moment I ever experienced in gaming. I've played A LOT of RPGs and that moment sticks with me. Also, Eve would've BEATEN THE CRAP OUT OF THE JORGAL, MORDA AND DRACK (for allowing this to even happen?), TEA-BAGGED EACH, URINATED ON THEM and would've calmly said, "This is how Krogan behave. Watch it human."

I think we're facing perpetual movement towards less enjoyment of games and other media, and greater emphasis on devaluing that media in mob style frenzy that is somehow feeding a sense of self importance amongst people who are rejecting the idea that they're merely passive consumers in an increasingly anti-consumer environment.
And it makes me incredibly discouraged and sad.
I don't think games are getting worse, I think the avenue for discussing their flaws is becoming more ubiquitous and the idea of status being attributed to someone who cleverly points out shortcomings is becoming more widespread. I think we've become more interested in a sense of being "right" about a widely visible piece of media being "wrong" on platforms of communication that are inherently meant to be spread information in a viral way, giving our "rightness" the ability to have the most visibility possible. I think that need, or the temptation, for people to feel as though they've uncovered a mistake - or better yet, something as sinister as deliberately harming consumers with products that are bad on purpose - is so great that we're all getting sucked up into a cycle of hating things that is actually making us less appreciative and joyful.
I think we're killing our own enjoyment by being in an environment where rewards in the form of Likes are handed out liberally for those that point out flaws, and chastisement is prescribed to those that gush praise for something, as a cure for their naiveté. And to what end? What has it accomplished?
EA's whitewashed interpretation of bad feedback online is to say, "Bioware has an incredibly passionate fanbase that love these games" - and they're right, because we keep buying all of them. The appropriate response to a game you didn't enjoy isn't to post about it on Reddit, or Twitter, or this message board - it's to stop playing it, and go do something else.
