We know that the Bioware Montreal is being stripped down a bit for other projects leaving some as support for patches and multiplayer.
We also know that EA has many other studios and that Bioware employees in both Edmonton and Austin had their hands in MEA's development.
Recent announcements have made it seem like multiplayer will be supported but mass Effect is going to put on hold for quite a while. With downsizing, dividing, and news about only multiplayer, it seems like we are not getting single player dlc.....
....but then there have been tweets from voice actors, cora's most recently, that more voice acting work is being done.
Taking all this into account, who do you think is working on this "new content" that is most likely single player dlc or even free post game content wrapping things up? What studio is doing this? How long do you think it will be before announced or even launched? And much content do you expect?
I honestly think EA has written off Andromeda at this point besides supporting the game with patches and multiplayer content. I think they are moving forward with one decent size single player dlc that will expand Meridian a bit, answer a few more questions to ease the cliffhangers (but not answer everything so a sequel can be done 5 years from now), and focus a short story about the quarian ark. Anything extra will be tied around what currently exists like the outposts to show how they have flourished giving the game proper closure for now.
My bet is either on a small team in Edmonton or giving Austin a shot

Bioware Montreal can still do the DLC as you don't need a full team for this since the DLC is just building on what is already there.

Last I heard they were busy on some unnanounced project and they also said Edmonton's new IP is getting help from them, so it makes sense. They're not doing DLC for this game while they're in that mode but I'm sure they intended for them to make the Reyes DLC.

Well, they'll probably release whatever the 1st DLC is since they're already working on it, but I doubt there'll be anything else after that. This game just didn't push the numbers that Bioware & EA were expecting.

I'm not convinced Montreal isn't the lead on dlc development... That said Austin wrote the Descent and we know how that turned out. I really enjoyed The Descent. It was a basic dungeon crawl, but I thought it was a lot of fun, and I liked the additional characters that tagged along with us. Just about the only thing I didn't like was the final battle. Fuuuuck that thing with the tentacles or whatever. But the darkspawn fights themselves were pretty great, especially with that music.

Ubisoft did their full expansion for Assassins Creed unity for free after it's bad release and criticisms. I don't think MEA is even in the same ball park as AC Unity's bugs but EA may want to capture good will again doing something small as a thank you to people who bought it. Then again, all the Multiplayer dlc is free which is pretty cool.

I believe the first 1 or DLCs are already done or almost complete anyway. There is clear hints about what they will be about. MEA 2 and 3 may not happen but there should be a few DLCs for the SP game and who knows how much MP will get (should be a considerable amount). DLC and patching requires a fraction of the resources that full game development needs.

Basically the Dasrkspawn level for DAI I've never played a dragon age game............I know. Not my cup of tea Are you saying that you heard "The Descent" is bad? I really enjoy it. It has some of the best visuals and atmosphere in the entire game. It's very meaty, too, in terms of content. As to the main question, I assume that the Montreal studio would craft any DLC we receive. There's no reason to expect another studio would be assigned this work. It sounds like DLC is exactly the type of thing they'll be doing for the foreseeable future, to be honest. (I wish it weren't so. I'd love a MEA2.)

No I just meant I've never dived into a dragon age game at all because they never seemed like my type of game. I've considered giving Inquisition a go, but I usually just jump back into Witcher 3. Plus I never liked the tactical pause that I saw. I would be ok with Montreal continuing to make content. I would want them to add more meat to the already existing game. Beefier side quests and new types of enemies on all the worlds. Maybe vehicle combat as we discussed. And then just tie up the loose ends on the smaller stuff. Holding the benefactor stuff back was just gimmicky. Games need to have closure except maybe an one such possibility for a sequel. The reapers were basically the only cliffhanger at the end of ME1. We'll get a MEA2 just not anytime soon. There's too much potential. I think the devs struggled to find what works as a new type of mass effect. They were on the right path but I think they had limited time and resources. If you think about it, Witcher 3 came out 3 years ago and this game seems to draw a lot from its inspiration. Good way to go instead either completely linear or procedurally generated. The next one just needs to fine tune the bigger maps and perfect the pacing so that both crowds (linear and open world) can be happy.

If it's not Montreal, and this is assuming the DLC isn't already finished, I'm thinking BioWare Austin. It's Montreal. They're going to support Andromeda until the development cycle is over. It does sound however that Montreal will have to wait a while before taking on another full title. They're veterans now and you know what? Ever hear the term, "Set up for failure." It's no wonder Edmonton had to save face. I know investors want their money, but eight weeks? Two months. Two more months to make sure Bioware's name isn't going to be dragged through the mud. Eight weeks was too long to wait after investing a measly $40 million and zero marketing? Eight weeks and EA was unaware of the brewing s***storm in YouTube circles? (Scoff all you want. YouTube 1, EA/Bioware 0) EA had to hubris think that there wasn't any real resentment after ME3? EA said to themselves, F*** it all... Or was it Bioware that signed off on this? Did Bioware say, "Hey, screw it... send it into the wild." Who didn't say, "Please take another take. Liam sounds like he's stroking in mid-sentence." Who didn't say, "My face is tired... WTF is that? Can we record another line like, "... I'm so exhausted carrying everyone on my shoulders. I hope you can help me..." or something to that effect? AND IF THEY WERE TOLD, NOT TO CRITIQUE... then why do you have directors? What the hell happened so badly that the lead left along with 13 other leads. I know it can't be all on HR, but holy cow... who made these horrible hires? Or did they just quit? How do you stay on schedule with all those replacements? How much was blown on experimenting on something that never came to fruition and why? Frostbite that complicated or that limited? I'm pretty sure it's both and who thought, "Sure, let's give it to Montreal who has never dealth with Frostbite before." They did a pretty good job considering. People's reputations are at risk. The stigma of claiming Andromeda on your resume is going to be there. There will be baggage associated with that. That's two years of your employment history or more. The only thing you can do now, is keep polishing the mechanics of the game and tighten up on quality. But you already know that. I'm looking forward to this new rig. The DLC will be icing on the cake.

We know that the Bioware Montreal is being stripped down a bit for other projects leaving some as support for patches and multiplayer. Isnt this 'knowledge' based on an article with no substantiated sources?
