Cryo will freeze guys with no shields and armor.
Tech rapes shields.
What about Biotic and Fire. Do they have any specific effects beyond causing a AOE kaboom

Biotics can be evolved to do extra damage versus shields or armor. Either way, Biotic combos do huge amounts of damage. They easily destroy enemy defenses. There are no weak "categories" in this game.

I am kinda disappointed that they took away warp, but I think those spike thingies can be evolved to be extra damage to armor.

I am kinda disappointed that they took away warp, but I think those spike thingies can be evolved to be extra damage to armor. Singularity also absorbed some of Warp's function, also. The features of Warp were absorbed by other powers. I think they didn't want a do-it-all power that would be a no-brainer. All other primer+detonators require at least a 5th step evolution to achieve this. Warp did it by default.

Except Singularity is pretty much only good against unarmored, unshielded opponents. Although one upgrade does allow it to damage shields. I suppose they got rid of it to balance out the other powers though.

I suppose they got rid of it to balance out the other powers though. It's not about what it does on its own. It primes everything within its radius. You can cause a devastating wave of detonations off of one Singularity. With the Adept Profile, they'll each have an echo, as well. Best of all, the Singularity isn't ended by the detonation. You can do this multiple times per use. With the right evolutions and/or gear, the cooldown time becomes trivial.

I am kinda disappointed that they took away warp, but I think those spike thingies can be evolved to be extra damage to armor. The problem with Warp is that it was basically the Biotic version of Incinerate... Made to destroy armor and deal damage over time. It would need some new mechanic to distinguish it, especially considering you could just take Incinerate instead. I will admit, though, Biotics biggest problem is definitely armored targets. Only thing you can use to prime them is singularity (and I think upgraded Shock wave).

Biotic combos do extra damage to health, also some enemies like kett are more vulnerable to them.

I find Aegis takes care of annointed pretty quick. If Aegis is leveld high enough I can kill one without breaking the shield. Singularity and throw worl well in tandem, if they are shielded.

On the subject of combos, does cryo or incendiary ammo only prime when you hit weak spots?
Cause I tried with both and it does not seem to work very effectively.

I think ammo only has a certain % chance to prime. If I recall correctly, one of the Tech Passives (Auxillary Level 4?) increases the % chance to prime.

That makes sense, thanks! :-) Probably the percentage will improve with higher level ammo as well. Still, would be interesting to know whether hitting a weak spot increases the probability to prime. Any ideas on that?

Yeah I missed it as well and it's the sole reason why I chose not to role a a biotic class in this game. I just rolled as an engineer/ with points in combat and the tech tree. Spamming overload/energy drain and pew pew for the win...

I find Aegis takes care of annointed pretty quick. If Aegis is leveld high enough I can kill one without breaking the shield. Singularity and throw worl well in tandem, if they are shielded. You're talking about Backlash, I assume. (They ditched the developmental name "Biotic Aegis".) It is not nearly as useful above Normal difficulty. Enemies shred it too quickly to do much of anything. I think it fits best on a shooter character who wants a defensive power that allows for mobility. I've toyed with the idea of an Explorer (Backlash/TacCloak/Turbocharge). It's not the most optimal choice, but it would be fun. I looked for Warp last December, when we got our first glimpse of powers. When Ian told us that Warp had been rolled into other powers, I waited to see what would happen. I can say that I definitely don't miss it. Losing a power that gets spammed all of the time, and replacing it with a greatly improved Singularity, among other things, was a great trade. Singularity does what Warp did, in terms of priming. It does it while lifting and entrapping unprotected enemies. It does it while eating shields. It does all of this simultaneously over a wide area. Detonating it doesn't even end these effects, either. Hit a sharpshooter or fiend within your Singularity's AoE with a Throw or Lance, and see what happens. Biotic detonations are the most destructive force in the game, from what I can tell. They can remove protections nearly as quickly as the more "specialized" powers. The Adept gets Biotic Echoes for a bunch of secondary detonations. BEs tend to chain together more frequently and effortlessly than other combos. A biotic Ryder is definitely not at any real disadvantage when facing shielded or armored foes. I like the current balance between Combat/Biotics/Tech. (I'd prefer more Combat powers, rather than energy cell skills, but that's a different complaint.) Each grouping of skills is essentially equal in capability with the others. Unless you're totally clueless, it's hard to build a "bad" character.

If I use chain overload after singularity, does it count as a tech or biotic combo, and will it give biotic echoes?

Yes, yes I am. I get my names mixed up. My first character used backlash on hardcore. I was able to take out an annointed just by holding up my shield. It is also useful for moving in and out of cover. For my first playthrough it was actually my most used power.
Your mom is the biotic version of incinerate. Just kidding. My memory of the OT is hazy, but I think there were some other differences as well. It would be nice to have a purely biotic character for the profile, if for no other reason than to have that biotic glow around me when I jump.

It would be nice to have a purely biotic character for the profile, if for no other reason than to have that biotic glow around me when I jump. I've not played on Hardcore since 1.04, and you're right that Backlash worked fine, then. I should've said, "It doesn't hold up well on Insanity." It's a very cool power. I just found it much more exciting to have something more active. Reflecting fire is fun for a while, but I'd rather have Pull, Singularity, Throw, Lance etc... I always have an offensive skill off cooldown, this way. I guess that Warp and Singularity were very similar in the OT. They felt very different, though, since they were mutually exclusive and linked to specific, class-based playstyles. In MEA, I use Incinerate a lot. It's stand-alone damage is relatively unimpressive, but its utility as a combo detonator and primer is great. Combo damage is the "real damage", anyway.

two simple questions. First, what can make combat detonation ? I mostly play Biotic/tech characters, almost never used combat class. Second, Biotic war Amp boost Biotic damage by 10%, but does that also work with backlash ?
