U did good for us. Thanks.
So.. from what I read... I can probably say Expert pack - One UR per million credits. (but double the consumables) Premium pack - 1.5-2 UR per million credits.
Considering premium pack has two Rare/UR slots minimum... I guess it makes sense...

15 URs received 14,200,000 credits spend / 50,000 cost of Expert pack = 284 Expert packs purchased (!) 15 / 284 = 0.0528 ~~ 5.3% So the removal of the pity RNG has roughly halved the UR drop rate for Expert packs.

Thanks for the test, amazing! Very useful for us, so thx!
14 million credits O_o with such a bad UR drop, is.....a little disappointing to say the least XDD. I don't buy andromeda points or ever saved more than 200-300k....if the pity "safe net" has been removed from expert packs, or raised to 30 instead of 10, is very bad news for players.
I think even among those of us who like and play MEAMP think the grind / apex mission quality / new content etc is not that amazing atm, so if you add that big nerf to expert packs...it's a big hit.

Exactly. They could have kept it in. I mean, they never 'fixed' reload cancelling in ME3, did they?

Considering the amazing amount of lootclutter in the UR´s, I´m not too happy about this. Planned to wait a few patches and hoped it would IMPROVE the grind, not make it worse. Anyway, thank you piniana for taking the bullett.

The strategy is very clearly not to try to make their game engaging and appealing to new players.
Instead, it seems to be simply to gouge the ones who are already playing until they wise up and move on.

Was it "working as intended"? The difference is it didn't (directly) get in the way of profit. The really stupid thing in all this is that change most likely will hurt AP sales. Unless you're in the microscopically tiny percent of people shelling out thousands to max your manifest with real money, you're just looking for a boost. Expert packs cost more per rare unlock, but with the timer, were better for UR. Premium packs were cheaper per rare, but no timer for UR. So each was clearly serving a perpose. If you're looking to boast your rares, buy premium packs. If you're looking for UR, buy expert packs. By removing the timer, they've effectively removed the incentive to purchase packs with real money after your rares are maxed. If your looking for a boost and you know that there is a significant chance that you may not get anything for your money, how likely are you to spend it versus if you are guaranteed at least one UR per every 10 packs you bought? This seems to be the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

This seems to be the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. You seem to be thinking that most people who spend a lot of money on the game (maybe 20 USD at a time or so) knew about the pity timer. 20 USD is enough to buy 10 expert packs so they were hitting that, assuming that's what they bought. You also seem to forget that most people who spend money on microtransactions do it on impulse without planning out how to efficiently buy things.

You also seem to forget that most people who spend money on microtransactions do it on impulse without planning out how to efficiently buy things. You're actually reinforcing my point. Those people would buy the packs regardless. Removing or adding the timer doesn't affect them. However, the timer would give incentive to people who ordinarily wouldn't buy packs a reason to do so. So they gain nothing by removing it except costing themselves those potential customers. I (and several friends) dropped a few dollars to unlock some rares to help us out at the beginning of the game. However, we will not be doing that for any of the ultrarares. Why? Because we were guaranteed a return on our money with the rares, while the ultrarares have no guarantee. Even if it is true that the timers are still there, they've been greatly reduced, and therefore the odds are greatly lower of getting the same type of return on the gamble. Even if you make the argument of it's to support the game, why would I want to support decisions that make the game artificially more difficult and less enjoyable to play?

Interesting that other people's experience differs from my own. This is good data. I got an UR last night after spending 550k on expert packs. If the 1/10 expert packs starts to fail me, I'll switch back to saving and buying premium packs based on this data. I've been spending every time I saved 400-600k

Do we get weekly community events with UR rewards if the goal is met as compensation? Fuck, they didn't even deliver on their promise of having high-rarity weapons available in the store, like the Black Widow that they used as an example in an interview. I'm sorry but there was no reason to nerf the drop rates and even less reason now to support any Bioware products in the future if they can't even deliver on what they promised. So instead of weekly community events with N7 weapons as a reward, rare/UR weapons available in the store, and a pity timer of 1 UR per 10 Expert/Premium packs, we get completely lied to and fucked over by Bioware. Sure, they may be human beings with feelings but people like that deserve all the criticism they get. It's called karma and hopefully they get screwed over and lied to by EA as much as they did to this community.
