Can we take the bitching to one of the half-dozen other threads on this topic, and save this one to discuss research findings? What exactly is there to research if it has been confirmed that Expert packs had their pity timer tripled from 10 to 30? Are you really holding out hope that Premium packs have been improved?

Someone needs to generate this kind of data for premium packs now. Do premium packs still have the 10th purchase pity timer? It appears as far as we know that every 10th premium pack holds an UR, regardless if you got one in-between. So every 10 packs you're guaranteed an UR. But there's also a good chance that one (or more) drops off-timer. EDIT: Or so I thought...

But if people can prove that they get a dry spell for more than 9 packs, then the assumption is wrong, and 1M credits can net you nothing at all...

The really stupid thing in all this is that change most likely will hurt AP sales. Unless you're in the microscopically tiny percent of people shelling out thousands to max your manifest with real money, you're just looking for a boost. Expert packs cost more per rare unlock, but with the timer, were better for UR. Premium packs were cheaper per rare, but no timer for UR. So each was clearly serving a perpose. If you're looking to boast your rares, buy premium packs. If you're looking for UR, buy expert packs. By removing the timer, they've effectively removed the incentive to purchase packs with real money after your rares are maxed. If your looking for a boost and you know that there is a significant chance that you may not get anything for your money, how likely are you to spend it versus if you are guaranteed at least one UR per every 10 packs you bought? This seems to be the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. You seem to be thinking that most people who spend a lot of money on the game (maybe 20 USD at a time or so) knew about the pity timer. 20 USD is enough to buy 10 expert packs so they were hitting that, assuming that's what they bought. You also seem to forget that most people who spend money on microtransactions do it on impulse without planning out how to efficiently buy things. As one of those players who's dropped a few twenties on the game, I assure you that I won't be anymore. What's the point, w/out any guarantee of UR after spending twenty bucks? Not everyone who spends does so as an impulse. I haven't spent money on any other entertainment since ME:A launched, so it's not much, and I was doing so every now and then because at least the mystical pity timer might get me 1 UR per paycheck. I definitely won't be spending any more money on packs now, though, as I was already doing my best to justify the expense prior to 1.06.

I'm sorry but there was no reason to nerf the drop rates and even less reason now to support any Bioware products in the future if they can't even deliver on what they promised. So instead of weekly community events with N7 weapons as a reward, rare/UR weapons available in the store, and a pity timer of 1 UR per 10 Expert/Premium packs, we get completely lied to and fucked over by Bioware. Sure, they may be human beings with feelings but people like that deserve all the criticism they get. It's called karma and hopefully they get screwed over and lied to by EA as much as they did to this community.

I just had 1 million stashed today. Got a UR exactly at the 10th pack (so pity timer works).
I am really glad I'll be getting a UR every 20 Gold games. That sounds fair.

As someone who opened 200 PPs before switching to EPs, I'd say that there is the same pity timer for PPs unless they changed it with 1.07. I had a couple of UR droughts while opening PPs and I always got an UR if I didn't get one after 9 consecutive PPs. My guess is that they only changed the drop rates for expert packs since there was not a reason to go for PPs due to the (almost) same UR/MP credits ratio besides more UR boosters. So, all in all, I think it's not that big of a deal except it now takes longer until we get the pleasure and excitement of opening PPs since they are twice as expensive compared to EPs. Also, in my case I usually save up until I can open 10 packs, so now I'd have to save up a whopping 1 million MP credits. Well, maybe I should change it to 5 PPs per day. In any case, the more I play the more it baffles me how they could possibly release the game in this state. SP aside MP was obviously in a beta state and only recently has become somewhat balanced. And only now "fixing" something as sensitive as this I don't even...I'm really looking forward to taking a break from this game. Almost got my last human male soldier to level 20. Not going to bother with all the fine tuning the kits and challenges for a while.

I just spent 550k again tonight. I usually save 400-600k before spending. The 1/20 drop rate didn't seem to affect me. I bought all expert packs. If anything, it's better than before. Not sure if it's a server bug for just today. I might go save another 400k tonight and try again in case the server is giving out UR like water tonight.

So we get more URs from premium packs and less from expert packs. Seems fair. So far there has not been any evidence to show that Premium packs have had their drop rates improved. The only evidence we have from testing is that the pity timer on Expert packs has been reduced from 1-in-10 to 1-in-30. The fact that Bioware did not catch this mistake until after this community noted it makes it all the worse as we are basically being punished for our loyalty. To make matters worse this change does not improve the game, only makes the grind worse for the sake of Bioware's revenue stream. Additionally this change was not included in the patch notes and again it was the community that had to question if the drop rates were changed before getting a confirmation. For a game that is struggling right now, this seems like nothing more than a cash grab before dropping support, especially since we still haven't had any DLC even mentioned yet.
