In ME3 it had almost no recoil whatsoever and reloaded super fast but had way less damage than the Black Widow. It was these 3 traits that made it such a well balanced gun.
Now in ME:A it seems to have quite a bit of recoil (way more compared to the Vanquisher) and doesn't reload quite as fast as it used to. In ME3 it also used to have only 3 shots in the clip and do more damage. To me, that was much better than having 5 shots and dealing way less damage. An N7 weapon is supposed to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time because its ultra rare. I dunno why they altered this gun so much.

Probably because nobody who made MEA ever played ME3 so they simply didn't even know what a Valiant was. Boiware had to know most of the OT fanbase would be buying this game. It makes no sense to backtrack on all the balance work that was done in ME3 MP. Especially since it was Bioware Montreal that headed the ME3 MP division and DLC's. ME3 MP was their baby. Unless... do you think perhaps they outsourced the MP in ME:A to a 'C' team? |

It needs to have the same stats as vanq with an extra bullet and slightly higher RoF. Kinda like what Isharay is to the Widow (read: a better version of it).
My Valiant 5 is outshined by Vanquisher X by a good margin, while filling same niche - also dat recoil...

Valiant needs enough damage to kill unprotected fodder mooks in one headshot via a better headshot multiplier, and the scope shouldn't kick the way it does at all.
Until then, I don't find much reason to use the valiant. It barely qualifies as an ultra rare compared to the vanquisher still.

I find the Valiant's real problem to be the off putting refire delay that all the single shot weapons have in this game, pull the trigger a little bit too fast, & it won't shoot, even if you do the pull, & hold the trigger a wee bit faster technique to get the best RoF from ME3's single shot weapons. Funny tho, burst fire weapons don't have this issue, just the single shot weapons.
The recoil is pretty much a non-issue since it pretty much resets to where it was before.

If they made it faster but kept the damage the same, it might approach OP territory. That would be like Bioware buffing the Vanquisher instead of nerfing it in the last update. |

The Valiant is great when I host the game. Not so great other times. Just average. But I can deal with the recoil just fine.

You can get two Valiant shots off within the Biotic Warrior window (caused by throwing Biotic Lance). You can't do the same with the Vanq or most other SR's worth carrying. Not much wrong with the Valiant ive been using it more often now and yes had to adjust to its recoil. But this is no issue when you are not spamming the trigger button. Its now on my top 3 list of best weapons for me (Crusader, Isharay, Valiant).
Combo it with the Turian Agent spec'd fully in recon visor and cloak it becomes a beast of a weapon. Infact i like it better then the Black Widow.

In no way has this game been under active development for 5 years. Not even fucking close. That's the amount of time that there is between the release of ME3 and ME:A, but that's all.
IMO, ME:A team would probably be surprised to find that people still play ME3 and that ME3 still has new buyers coming in.

In single player the Vanquisher has the same weight as the Valiant, which is more than the latter has than in MP3.
But what's this complaint about recoil? You mean that tiny-weeny jump after firing a shot before the crosshairs returns to the same position? I was using the gun for a couple of games yesterday night and actually had to pay attention in order to try and get what is meant by 'recoil', since I didn't even notice...
I like the Valiant more than the BW or even the Vanquisher. Even without the x2.1 weakpoint modifier. I like the Inferno better though.
