Where have all the cowboys gone? Apply & conquer crude oil.

When we were first introduced to the new look Mass Effect Andromeda it was done with Alec Ryder landing in on Eos, with a Krogan and Cora (Who knows what happened to that game.) and it was presented to us with frontier spirit and enthusiasm.

Exploration and wild west themes in space, complete with Johnny Cash singing about an old cowboy who went riding out one dark and windy day.

The closest we ever came to it was a lady in a cowboy hat on Havarl, who seemed to be ripping off Cindy from FFXV.

Frontier exploration as a space cowboy sounded like fun to me and there appeared to be a game about that.

Instead we were given the employment opportunity of a lifetime as a Pathfinder for a private company.

Not very cowboyish, unless you're Texan. In which case you probably still use a spit tin and the cowboy days will never die, even on an offshore oil rig.

My point is though that the frontier spirit as well as Alec Ryders Krogan are missing from the game. There is a disturbing lack of cowboy hats and Eos lacks a capable saloon to throw down in. Which is a shame because August Bradley sounds like a Sherriff type guy from an old Western and his VO suits it.

Even the quick draw stylings of Kadaras outlaws are interrupted by snipers bullets.

Just as it was starting to feel cowboyish too. Which is pretty much how this thing seems to go when it comes to cowboy stylings.

Ryder is no Lee Marvin.

No Clint Eastwood.

No John Wayne or Yul Brenner.

He's not even Emilio Estevez, which I would have loved btw. That Young Guns stuff is legendary aside from Charlie Sheens acting in part one (Benezias death scene has a western movie rival.)

I feel like we are in an infinite loop of deleted scenes from an all too serious version of Blazing Saddles, written before Mel Brooks got the script and made it genius.

This game is continuing to break my immersion.
