^^^ they struggled to get ME1 even developed till EA came by. If it's not EA, it would've just been another publisher people blast for the fun of it, that or Bioware just shuts down anyways. why I see people blaming EA as a scapegoat. Again not trying to turn this into an ea hate thread, and I never could get into mass effect, so it wouldn't bother me if it was never made. But ea sets the deadlines, and ea is probably the one that said make pay to win multiplayer, as pay to win is in every ea game now . Not sure who's genius idea it was to ruin knights of the old Republic by giving tanks enough area damage to one shot everyone, something you couldn't do with a single target ability, which essentially destroyed the game . But again, this game felt very lackluster to me, very slapped together, it felt like an ea title , like Fifa , or NHL, or battlefield ( dice I know ) , and like most games are feeling now, 80 bucks for a game you can beat in 12 hours , but it has 30+ hours of side missions, I know dragon age isn't that bad, but there is so much empty space, as mentioned by someone else ,( kind of like quest 64 , only thing that really made that game long was all the emptiness) , again a lackluster story pieces together of the other stories . And when you compare the games, I feel this game by far gives the least. Dragon age 2 was in one place , but at least the story revolves around your companions and their decisions and how you want to handle them, what real effect do your decisions have but who joins the Inquisition to give you a little agent buff ... and the combat feels super repetitive in comparison, again a total lack of skill customization, I see no point to playing through as another class, or another version of my own class, as there really isn't one ... Why make your tag "easucks" then? I think it's clear you've got something vs them (which I've no issue with however I do see it differently). EA does set the deadlines, however bioware is literally given more time than most devs out there, not to mention they also are the only group under EA that even get delays far as I'm aware. Inquisition got delayed a whole year, and it paid off cause it was the best selling bioware game and it was backed up with multiple game of the year awards. It's hard to say that inquisition suffered when it had so much success, so much in fact that they're much more open with the DA franchise than they are with the mass effect franchise now (because of speculation andromeda bombed). Andromeda itself got 5 years, and delayed for extra time, I honestly can't blame EA cause they give plenty of time when other developers get less and they still put out good games. The fault will be on bioware rather than EA for me. As for p2w multiplayer, I never played the Star Wars games as I'm not a fan of that franchise at all, movie or game. So I've no experience how they handled that, however I don't see dragon age or mass effects multiplayer as pay to win, you're paying to get a chance at better items, the RNG approach is the opposite of p2w to me. For your second paragraph: inquisition did have issues with it being to open world, it's one of my own issues too. There's to much back and forth, to much traveling to an objective because of it, I can understand why mass effect is doing it and I actually like it that way, for that franchise. Dragon age I thought it unnecessary as it's never been about exploring and it drags the game on if your a completionist that "has to everything". I also had an issue where companions became boring after so long because there's nothing left to expand upon after a while. It's very different from origins where I could hear something different from them the entirety of the game. It's why I've said inquisitions dialogue dries up in my previous post, and one I want to see improved upon. Combat wise you'll also see I agree, however I am tolerant of it. I do disagree on the classes though if you're saying there's no replay value to them, a mage plays very different from a warrior and a rouge and vice versa.

Lol paying for a chance to get better items is called pay to win, us dragon age multiplayer even good!?! Is there even a point to it ?!? I didn't think so, except to get suckers to spend more money... Then all their sports game cater to ultimate team, which you buy players to win, people even sell individual cards on Kijiji... Star wars battle front here, pay 150$ for a complete trash game, you get 4 crappy expansions, and we realize the game sucked so now we will rehash it and charge you another 150$ for the game we should have done in the first place, oops, or battlefield 3 or 4 for PC, broken for 4 months, not playable, no refunds... At least Arkham Knight creators realized they couldn't find, their issues and gave refunds.... ea is a greedy blood sucking corporation. www.cinemablend.com/games/Why-People-Hate-EA-Ten-Simple-Reasons-43696.htmlwww.google.ca/amp/kotaku.com/an-updated-list-of-studios-ea-has-bought-and-then-shut-1689498614/ampwww.techdirt.com/articles/20141205/05574329334/ea-admits-that-gobbling-up-talented-studios-then-ruining-them-isnt-working-out-so-well.shtmlI know they are out of date, and some are probably conspiracies, but I'm not alone on the ea hate ...

As far as class replayability, I didn't see it... As you are limited on your skills, only a few of them are worthy of picking up imo. I seen that in most classes tbh. Most revolve around the boring hold the mouse or trigger, then hit a skill when your energy recovers and again with 8 abilities aloud on your bar, again it restricted it.
Also , it's a good thing that your characters fill every class, and archetype so we can see/use them, but again that lowers playability when you are limited in the skills you can pick, and even in the trees in general, again compare them to dragon age expansion or da2 , they are completely dumbed down . Combat is in general. We didn't even get any cool killing ogre or dragon cut scenes ...

What would i like from DA4...
Let's see >.>
1) Bring back Massive Armor like in DA:O, like actual full plate armor. The armor choices especially for heavy armor in DA:I were disappointing. Very. >.<
2) Bring back Arcane Warrior(no race restrictions please). Knight Enchanter was really an effort, but didn't cut it. Use Magic to equip weapons and armor, and being able to cast with a sword in hand, an actual sword i can hold. Not that appears once i try to hit something. Hint: I am not asking for an overpowered spec that is unkillable, i want an alternative way to play as i want, the most popular archetype of rpgs, that is, gishes: clerics or spellswords, heavily armored and armed. >.>
3) Gives us back please the customization of selecting attribute points. Where i put my stats is part of me customizing my character.
4) Customization for equipment. Inquisition was disappointing in this subject as a whole. Light medium and heavy armor almost looked the same. We had trenchcoat 1 and 2, and the "unique" armors, that weren't even customizable.
5) More specializations per class. Like 4 or 5 instead of 3. Additionally, being able to select only one specialization only didn't quite cut it for me, considering the few options you have anyway.
6) More trees per class, and especially, more than the basic elemental magic of DA:I. Origins had so much more to choose from. In Inquisition we had "fire, ice, lightning, life" and that was it, barring specs.
7) Open world, even if it looks extremely good, should have more stuff to do. Either put less areas, saving budget for more things, or return to the Origins approach.
8) Focus more on character and equipment graphics instead of environmental graphics only. In Inquisition, the environment looked gorgeous, but the characters ' faces, hair(...) and armor looked like they had less effort put into them. Together with the limited customization options, it was bad. We had gorgeous empty spaces and we looked mediocre by comparison.
9) Please don't bring back old villains. If i don't play the same character, seeing old villains again that someone else had to deal with, i don't know, i'm not exactly thrilled by it.
10) Did i mention more specializations to cover more archetypes? I will widen it to the combat system in general. Choices in an RPG, are not just dialogue choices. This isn't just an interactive dialogue simulator. I am not just playing a stoic, a meanie or a jester. I have my roles in combat to fulfil, and the combat system of DA with 3 basic classes is just that, basic. Choices are few to begin with, and quite frankly, the combat of Inquisition was even less engaging than that of DA2. My personal favorite was in Origins.
11) For the love of the Maker or his empty throne, please bring back healing. There was no point to rely only on potions, and have to go back to camps every time you run out. It was more tedious than anything else.
I personally would like to see a turn to "find" Origins, or remind of Origins more. Origins was far from perfect, but it was better imo that the next two games, and thus i want to see something that combines the best of Origins, and of the other games.

For me, it'd boil down to: 1) RP options. That's the big one. Most of the quest-givers in DA:I were actually dead (notes found on corpse), so there was no way to turn in the quest and, say, choose an evil option: i.e. nope, you won't get your dead daughter's amulet back, because it's powerful and I'll keep it for myself. The odd thing is, I usually play a white hat, but I like having a choice -- I can't really be a good guy when there's no alternative, now can I? 2) Better UI, especially in inventory mode. I want to see how my stats change when I equip a new weapon. Crit chance, dmg, etc. Numbers. Not a meaningless graph bar at the bottom that only shows stuff I'm not interested in! 2.5) Better UI part 2. Why am I limited to 8 skills? Why can't I resize that annoying quest overlay on the right hand-side? I find myself compelled to turn all the quests off because of that, and it's like playing a game of whack-a-mole. 3) I personally quite like the healing/guard/barrier system as it is, and I'm fine with not having to assign attribute points. I mean, I *craft* attribute points instead, so if I really want to get into details, I can. 4) Side-quests. As much as I enjoy reading codex entries, they shouldn't be the main way of getting new quests. Fairbanks is a good (bad) example. "Yes I have a quest for you; read all the notes scattered in my lair to find out more about it." Ugh. I only understood what was going on, and that the Free Whatstheirface had now run away to Emprise du Lion, on my second playthrough. 4. Sidequests. Requisition Officers shouldn't stalk me. I haven't fulfilled a single requisition in this playthrough. Completely unnecessary. Camps should be a place to rest, not a place to play hide-and-seek with the req officer. 4.c) War table: okay, if you must... but at times it lit up like a Christmas tree. Overwhelming. And a lot less rewarding on the second playthrough, if you've nugged, because if the only reward is a schematic you already have... well, tough. 5) I don't want to be that special. "Your worship"; "Herald of Andraste"; "Our Inquisitor!!!!! " Ugh. I envied Sutherland and his team. I'd like to work from the shadows. (To be honest my favourite quest lines in DA:O and Awakening are when you get caught, and have to escape with only your shirt on your back, a rusty dagger, and a couple of good friends.)

Attributes i can to either way with, but the 100 stamina, or magic pool was very limiting. It would handicap a character alot to have to assign 10-20% for a sustainable skill, like the auras of dragon age 2 or skills from origins. Which is why I prefer the old place your own attributes, it jived much better with the advanced skill trees over this basic boring one .
The thing I didn't like about the war table, is if you select the right person you get better rewards, and sometimes you have to wait until the next day to select that person as the right person for that task is the right one for many others . Or this silly if you turn left you get the best prize , but because you turned right you now don't. Was the one thing that annoyed me about the winter palace quest, is everything had to be done in an exact order and in order to find out it requires several play throughs, which is hardly worth the effort imo, again an enjoyable quest, but not if you are going through one part resetting doing it again, then restarting the whole thing in hopes that you have it figured out, or are watching someone on YouTube ...

Honestly, I would like to see DA4 drop the DAMP aspect. lol! Still such an unfortunate acronym. Regardless, I don't see mp for DA as being something that adds to the game, or gaming experience. Not every game is suited for that, and it can be a waste of time and money. I want to see those resources poured into the main game.
Not because I have anything inherently against MP. But for DA it was like shoving a square peg into a round hole. It gets to the point where fetishsizing online/mp stuff becomes defeatist. It's okay to have variety. To diversify your portfolio, if you will. I mean, it's like you can love lobster, but if all you have is lobster everyday for three months, you're going to come to hate it. Nobody wants the same friggin thing all the time. Seriously, EA. I remember some EA Bro bragging about how no EA games get green lit now without having an online aspect. As if.
All this is assuming, ofc, that DA4 is not set up for failure.
Hmm, I didn't realize there was some salt there.

Tis a subject much explored in other threads (regards combat, magic, etc) but I'll add a bit to some of the above. Very important, DA devs. You have done well so far in chars and story, don't start dropping the ball now. Story and characters, priority. I'd like to see more varied zones. I don't want to be a land lubber or lumbering in the caves all the time. Enough of that already. If there's going to be no flying mount to fly on, then have a unique area that's sky high and an area on the high seas; ships, Bioware, ships. Adventure on the seas if we're not going underwater. And please, allow us to swim.

I want to have access to all my abilities for every.single.fight. How am I supposed to know ahead of time on my first play through what spells are going to work best against an enemy? The wheel doesn't have to necessarily come back, so I'm open to how more spells can become available, and I don't really want more spells/powers overall, I just want to have access to all the spells that I've taken the time to level up and gain access to.
Blood magic, I want it back. Also, shape-shifting into a werewolf, a big bad-ass werewolf that gets bigger and badder the more you level up. It doesn't have to be a mage class option.
Underwater exploration because I saw it in the Anthem trailer and I gotta get some of that in my DA.
Griffins.
More colorful dragons to fight and possibly tame (taming is optional).
Cities, ports, and camps that feel alive and bustling with activity.

To be short and sweet, I either want to play a new protagonist (perhaps an agent of the Inquisitor) or get my arm back. Other than that, I loved DAI as is with a lot of choices from mods people for hair variety.
For me losing my arm was almost as bad as Bioware's lame ME3 ending.

we need bard characters like leliana (as in storytellers who know tons of lore and comments on them , not the orlesian assassins)
i loved that sometimes when youre out in the world with leliana you can ask her what she knows about the place and she may have new things to say!

I don't mind some trivial/fetch quests (after all how else are we going to spend the 800+ hours we'd like to on the game?), but perhaps not "get ALL 5 million shards for a fairly useful bonus".
Better hair and clothes would be appreciated.
The ability to talk to my companions while exploring, not just at camp/HQ.

I will be very much on board with trading off the petting zoo of companions/advisors for far fewer but more interactive, events and area aware companions. Will take group size reduction to 3 as well, if it helps.
a way stronger focus on protagonist content, his or her choices and personality variability/fidelity/consistency would also be appreciated.
Inquisition went too far in creating too large population of half-developed shallow companions.

I am not gonna sacrifice my gameplay entertainment for story and don't even see how reducing party size would achieve this, if you had a Baldur's Gate sized party ( 6 men) that allows for alot more banter, more enemies, bigger bosses, bigger fights, more strategy... Who wants to trudge their way through a boring game to pick up story ( dragon age Inquisition combat being the lamest in comparison, dragon age 2 was taking a step in the right direction, Inquisition a step back) ?? I can't be the only one disappointed with the lack of all RPGs utilizing your whole party... Final Fantasy being the worst as they always give you an abundance of parties ( ff9 being an exception as you had to play all your party members due to the story ). The haven fight being extremely disappointing, again you get your whole party and only four of you are doing something, the others are no where to be found, the battles aren't epic, and if they reduce party size it further limits are strategies and the possibility of synergy attacks between classes ... And we will be down to a DPS a tank and a support/healer or a mage rogue and Warrior so we can unlock every path/chest.

I disagree. Less companions means more content for each, so they comment on changes in environment and quests. That's always timely, and colors the game with their reaction to what you are actually up to, rather than random banter that is done very fast. Even the random banter is way easier to make numerous if the companion # are limited, and you are guaranteed to see it, rather than endlessly gearing and rotating too many companions to see if there is a slip of dialogue you might be looking for.
Overall, I like a fighting unit, and I am okay with 4, but in Inquisition, you basically never needed a rogue for clearing traps ahead of the party because the stealth did not work the way it used to in classic games and Origins, where you could go around in stealth and do things. There were also barely any locks routinely, and they were just present in a few cases and made it really annoying when you had to go back and bring a rogue all of a sudden.
Also, Inquisition eliminated a healer, thus really reducing your party roles even further to a tank and support DPS, rather than the Tank, Healer, ranged DPS, Scout-melee-DPS as it was in Origins.
You do not functionally need three companions any longer, with the elimination of the roles.
And, banter-wise, as I said, I prefer to have two favorites along that talk a lot and offer aware commentary throughout the game to random banter that is exceedingly rare.
In other words, I want "closer" and "deeper" relationships with fewer companions, than lots of superficial content in a larger party.
Out of the whole Inquisition cast, I can barely pick two characters that I REALLY wanted along, and they did not talk much outside the darn Skyhold. But in Andromeda, the companions talk all the time, reacting to specifically what you are doing, what planet you are on, and have HUGE number of quick exchanges instead of few long banters, which is far better in relieving the exploration and make the world feel more alive for me.
Also, picking two to hold my back is really special, because it is either thematic for a planet (i.e tough mercs to help me in the Underworld) or emotional (lover and BFF).
Anyways, I want as much interactions while playing in the world and doing quests as they had in Andromeda, it was a gold standard for me.

They could make DA4 multplayer with bland short main story,....like DAI was...if they want to fail again. Best selling bioware title and various game of the year awards(which means ratings have to be good) equates to failing? inquisition was a lot better than DAII, remove the hack and slash combat and put some more RPG elements towards stats and i could see it being better than Origins. I wouldn't count on them changing formula again in the franchise now that they've established one that works. No need to keep DA inconsist game after game.
