There is;  it's in the first hospital conversation.  Shep's (supposedly) talking about his biotic abilities, but it's one of those lines that has a pretty obvious flirty subtext. (He's even got an "are you flirting with me???" response, but it only fires under a fairly limited set of conditions.)

But, yeah, I agree.  Older Kaidan = hotter Kaidan.

I find I'm just the opposite.  As much as I try not to play self-insert characters, I find I just can't get invested in a romance unless I, personally, find the LI attractive.  Garrus is a great guy, for instance, but I could never do a Garrusmance playthrough... though let's be honest, there's simply no way I could play FemShep and romance anyone other than Kaidan.

But, yeah, I too love Kaidan's maturity.  I love that he and Shep feel like a team, a real partnership.  Shep's not his therapist or life coach.  I love his "you don't need to fix me; I'm a fully functional human being" line from ME1; it's refreshingly different for a BW game, and it's disappointing that a lot of people seem to look at his relative lack of issues and conclude that he's boring.  I don't feel that these characters need to have borderline personalities to be interesting and worthwhile.
