1>3>2 A? haven't played it yet despite pre-ordering, still hoping for a better save system.

Playing #2 now and Shep is so awesome in it. Even in the Paragon options, the character is still badass in the delivery. I've Gibbed it so that I can choose all convo options regardless of alignment, and given myself resources so I don't have to planet scan, which was really the only drag about it, and it's been a blast to play the story and companion missions--and all the companion convos are so good and natural. Definitely my favorite game of all and probably all time.

I would go with 2>1>3>A or 1>2>3>A, it does not really matter to me, I like them all, especially 2 and 1

For me it's 1=3>2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A
I love ME1 & ME3 equally but for different reasons (like exploration & discovery of the new univers in ME1 & the cinematics/staging (not sure of the correct english word >.<) the urge to save the galaxy & the feelings :3. ME3 might have been first for me if the endings were really different (thanks to modder we have better endings like MEHEM ou John's P).

2-1-A-3
Mass Effect 2 is still one of my favourite games. Very fun middle chapter with a fab cast.
Mass Effect 1 second. While gameplay was sometimes ropey the central story arc is so fantastic.
Andromeda. While i thought at times the storytelling lacked punch, i still had a lot of fun playing, largely because of the dynamic with peebee.
Mass Effect 3. With a half competent ending it might have been third on the list. With the utter trainwreck ending it has to be last. On top of that while the gameplay was fun i was intensely annoyed by the intro, the annoying dream sequences, the forced Alliance love in & the overall sense of much larger auto-dialogue characterisation of Shep over the previous sense of player control.

2>3>A>1.
I went back and forth about 2 beating out 3 -- some of 3's problems are caused by the earlier games in the series saddling it with insoluble problems.
Similarly, I think 1 and A are just about tied, but A gets the nod because of 1's poor gameplay. This isn't a knock on the ME1 devs because I don't see how you can know that this kind of shooter/CRPG hybrid won't work right before you've made the game.

Running through my first trilogy run since MEA came out. Currently just imported from ME1 into ME2 and even after 7 1/2 years that game still holds up really well. When is all said and done ME2 might be my favorite game of all time (ME3 is pretty close as well).

ME2 = ME3 > ME1 = ME:A
Like Alanc, I can go back and forth between which is better - 2 or 3. But both are easily better than 1 or Andromeda. Both are equal in my opinion. 1 has rather outdated gameplay compared to the rest of the series (replayed 1 again after 3 - 4 years; forgot how much I hated "shoot 'til you win"). Andromeda I didn't like that I couldn't dictate what powers squadmates used. So both had something combat-wise that I found rather annoying.
2 and 3 are both equally excellent and exceptional games (that's the ending fiasco aside), so I find it difficult to determine which is better. Both are equal to one another and both are better than 1 and Andromeda for me.

Mine is 1) ME 1 2) ME 3 3) ME A 4) ME 2 ^ This. ME2 gave me serious whiplash when I started it after finishing ME1 - I hated the new leveling system, the combat (particularly in the first few missions) was like a succession of static shooting galleries, and it felt like I'd stepped into a different universe instead of the now-familiar ME universe. Even the colour scheme was wrong, somehow. I got used to the universe (since it was really just showing us a different perspective of what we'd already seen), fell in love with the characters, and the suicide mission is I think the best mission in the series - but the game as a whole still ranks last overall. ME3 and MEA struck a good balance between ME1 and ME2 in terms of leveling. I'm also one of those weirdos who adored the Mako and felt compelled to drive over every square inch of every uncharted world in ME1. The first time, at least. Once it became obvious that there really wasn't much to do out there I just looked up the planet's maps online and made a beeline for the relevant locations. MEA gets serious points, from me at least, for finally giving me worlds to drive around in that feel lived-in, where I can have "random" encounters that turn into questlines. And I adore the Nomad. MEA's single-player combat is the most fun, overall, combining the basic combat mechanics of ME3 with the more free-wheeling open combat style from ME1 (as opposed to the static shooting galleries from ME3 and especially ME2). In fact MEA would be tied with ME3 if it weren't for the the multiplayer; for some reason I enjoyed ME3MP much more than MEAMP. It's worth noting that once you got above ME3MP bronze difficulty, the "shooting gallery" combat style that made ME3SP and ME2 a bit dull was gone and run-and-gun became much more effective. Actually no, ME3 also did a better job than MEA of making me feel like my choices mattered. Yes, even with ME3's ending. Honestly I was content with the Extended Cut, which was already released when I played the first time. (The pre-EC ending would have pissed me off, I'll admit).

Andromeda is at the bottom because I played it once and have no desire to play it again (though I was ready to play DLC had there been any). ME3 is at the top for the feels it gives me. I never had to experience an ending without Extended Cut, and have no bitterness toward it to taint my opinion of the game. ME 2 is as fun as ME3, but doesn't hit me as hard emotionally, so it ranks second. ME1 is ahead of MEA because I intend to play it again, though I have decided the Mako is far worse than the Nomad.

ME2 - My favorite since it made me start creating multiple Shepards and play different classes.
ME1 - the beginning. I made my first Shepard here and, until 2, he was my only one.
ME3 - The end. Love playing all my characters through to their conclusion.
MEA - Technical issues aside, MEA has some of my favorite squad mates (love Drack). The ending addresses issues people took with Priority: Earths ending as well (though I liked ME3's last mission).

I should mention I always start at the beginning with ME1. I never create a Shepard using the Genesis comics. Also, despite 2 being my favorite, MEAs loyalty missions give those in 2 a run for their money. This is partly due to the loyalty in MEA feeling both personal and having larger implications. Drack with the seed transport and Vorn, Jaal with Aksuul and the Roekar.
I'm not going to say they surpass 2, of course. I love Jacks in 2, but it is a derelict Cerberus facility. Cora deals with her issues (mostly) and we save the Asari ark.
