Somewhat related to the silent protagonist issue. "OPINION: Playing as a Female Character in Far Cry 5 Is Really Weird" I agree with her. The blank slate protagonist is likely a product of corners being cut in development, and the gender option may have been added after all the VOs were done.

I hate it too. I have no clue whatsoever why so many people seem to like mute protagonists so much. All I feel when the protagonist just sits iddle during a cutscene while remaining quiet is that they are some weirdo creep who never says anything even though they should. Feels like a huge step back from the previous game. Where you not only had a name but interacted with the story too. Here i feel pretty detached from it so far. On the bright side, we're not an idiot douche like Jason Brody.

What's funny is that the caveman protagonist of FC: Primal talks... And ironically, Takkar is probally the best voiced protagonist in the series. All the others usually come off as either wimpy or whiny.

When everything else is voiced but not the protagonist, that definitelly feels like cutting corners. Now was it because of time or money constraints? Takkar was cool, much more than this unnamed rookie from FC5.

Takkar doesn't even need to talk, the guy can tame and ride sabertooth tigers, that speaks volumes in and of itself.

He's voiced by Elias Toufexis aka Adam Jenson I thought it worked very well. And I love it that Urki sounds just like Hurk in FC3 in that he still has a very strong American accent

I enjoyed FC Primal a lot and it's so cool to have a Saber tooth Tiger as your pet/protector. Same goes for the other animals that Takkar can tame in FC Primal though.

Correct me if i am wrong but the reason why the homo neanderthalensis were all dying in the game was because of the custom of eating human flesh right?

Correct me if i am wrong but the reason why the homo neanderthalensis were all dying in the game was because of the custom of eating human flesh right? That and climate change IIRC. Also, the Udam storyline ending implies what remains of them get absorbed by the Wenja/Homo-sapiens.

Just finished Far Cry 5. All the good visuals and gameplay are not enough to save that SHITTY story and the cherry at the top of the cake were those endings: complete drug ridden nonsense like much of the story. Add to that the doormat silent protagonist and I really didn't feel invested in the story at all, like i did when played both Far Cry 4 and Primal. Guess all the good writters were ocuppied with Assassin's Creed, otherwise i can't explain how they go from FC4 to this abomination. I am deleting this crap from my HD. :rage: :rage: :rage:

Yeah, one of the poorest written stories with one of the most insulting endings I've ever played. I don't regret buying it because co-op was SUPER FUN but yeah... unless the next Farcry game has a decent co-op mode again this game was my first and only game of that franchise. Boomer, Peaches and Cheeseburger, I will always love you! Story writers, go into the shame box and never come out again!

I have to say it's become a filler game for me... I play it when I fancy a break from Destiny/Rayman. I just bimble around shootin and lootin and getting run over, laughing at the sheer stupidness of the AI and ragdolling. I can't say the story had grabbed me at all (but this kinda happened with FC4 for me, halfway through i lost interest and sight of what I was supposed to be doing; went back and finished it later). Plus side: there's too much to do!; downside: there's too much to do!

.....I liked the game quite a bit. The open world part was a ton of fun. Love Peaches. She's just so quiet and deadly, and plus enemies think it's just a random wildlife encounter. lol. Grace was cool for the sniping, but preferred Jess because her sniping was quiet. She concerned me sometimes, though, with her comments. Sharky surprised me. He rarely fell in combat. I took him alot of places actually. I mostly ran with the random soldier hires. They had stuff to say and were pretty good. I'd pair up a random and a specialist. I liked the way they interacted with each other, even the randoms. They fucked with my head pretty good. I was ready to scream with that Jacob stuff! Over and over. But I took that as the point. I refused to shoot the last guy. You could see where this leading. The game said eff you, and played the cutscene anyway. lol. John..feeling up my boobies, talking about pouring all the nightmares inside you,or something, while humping the chair, or me, or Idk. Bad touching! Jesus. I had a hard time flying that plane. Or rather fighting in the plane. I ran over Boomer a couple times. Awful feeling. BumpBump. Whimper. Noooo, I'm so sorry, Boomer. Ah, the end. My first reaction, Wtf? Where did that com from? I was so confused. Did Eden have a stash? But it was so many, I thought, nah.. Then I thought it was the Bliss because that shit made everything very weird. Between that and the mind job that they did on me, I wasn't sure what was real. I know, Indoctrination Theory, right? I went looking for something I might have missed. Apparently, the world outside of Montana was being lit the fvck up. It was being broadcast on the radio throughout the game. I didn't listen to the radio that much. I missed all that. The last broadcast towards the very end of the game said something about Moscow being bombed. Millions were dead. Before that there was something about Mid East talks breaking down. Something about North Korea. All your nightmares. Either way, it was going to be what it was. This was a global level of break down. Joseph was right, but it wouldn't take a prophet to have figured it out. They were right to prepare, as many others did, but they were sick so...a good idea got polluted. Not happy with the ending, but not too upset. Maybe because I was not that connected to the PC with her being a completely mute, unseen floating ectoplasma and all. But my Lady Deputy is now handcuffed to a bed in a dark basement bunker with her nightmare, waiting for the dlc-that will never come- where she snaps that fvkers neck with her unnaturally brawny thighs at the first opportunity. Then the Fallout series begins, or..? Oh, I don't for one second doubt that Joseph would take advantage of his "Child" under the auspices of sacred reproduction for the new Eden. Ugh. Playing as a female was weird because there were times when the dialogue would forget I was female. But then other times it felt like the PC was supposed to have been a pre-defined female character. I say that because I read this thing about Faith and how she was not the first Faith. There had been a few others before her. The first one, apparently, was Joseph's sister. She was described as having long black hair and as tall as her brother. This made me laugh at first because my PC, like some others in games, had that tall male PC perspective. It happens. But she disappeared, or died, or something. Then I thought about that tattoo on Joseph's arm. The lady with the black hair and the lily's. I figured that was the first Faith, his sister - maybe sister-wife? idk. Then I was like, wait a minute! The lady in the tattoo actually looked like my PC. Alot. I began to have the creeping suspicion that my PC reminded him of the first Faith. The thought raised the creepy factor for me quite a bit. I know with the customization not all PC's looked like the one I made, but it also felt like they had been moving ideas around and didn't have the whole thing ironed out before launch. At any rate, I really liked the game overall. It was fun. It could be intense. I think whatever ending you picked it was going to be the same because that was happening outside of Montana. I think they should have chosen a more reliable way to communicate what was going on in the outside world instead of relying on the off chance that the player may be listening to the radio, and catch the broadcasts of news. The overall theme to me seemed to be more about the impact and ripple effects of abuse and questioning who or what is really on the "right side". The Seeds were abuuused. If one, or two people are abused, and are not able heal from it - not able to set that bone right again, then it spreads. And it has the ability to spread exponentially. Joseph tells John not to spread his demons to other people with his horrific tactics, but Joseph was doing the same thing. Hypocrite. Which leads to the idea of what is the "right" side. Who is really right? What is that definition? Joseph was just as sick and abusive as John. But because he thought God told him so, it was okay. He was "chosen" so the heinous crimes he committed, or allowed to be committed while he sat there and watched, were okay because God makes me in the right. Deep down he knew he wasn't right. That's why he used the God/chosen one justification as a crutch to allow himself to partake in that particular sadistic appetite. One he acquired from having sadistic appetites inflicted on him growing up. It also questions you. Are you "right"? What makes you so righteous? Look at the blood bath. Look at all the people you've cut down because you thought you were on the right side. Justified (nvm that everytime I saw one of those peggies they tried to kill me. hell, didn't even have to see them. minding my business trying to pick a flower, and I got sniped. but hey, gotta have some gameplay . So, the main take away I got was this questioning of what makes you so right? What makes you so righteous? Or are you self-righteous? Are you doing horrible things in the name of your particular god? What makes you so much better than the next guy? Are you sure? Or is it just a story you like to tell yourself? Hypocrite. tl;dr i know, i know.

The story in Far Cry 5 is so morally debased I frankly don't give it two cents worth. It is nonsensical twaddle. Since I bought the extended version I can compare it with FC3, if I ever get around playing it! Liked the open world gameplay but what is the point in this nihilistic nothingness! Don't want to be a willing slave, than be dead and on top of that a mute protagonist.

Loaded up the free (from the season pass) version of FC3 on the PS4. It looks surprisingly good, and the opening cutscenes and escape sections really got my heart going, even though I've played this game before. Looking forward to playing it (I confess, probably more than FC4 and 5 )

It's funny, because far cry 3 is the epitome of toxic masculinity on high with a character like brody, and you throw in Citra as the exotic lover...looking back you have an arc in far cry 3 but the intent of the game was always for you to die in the end because of that arc you go on.

But then I saw this: 24 fps, on the ps4 pro?! Seesh, I know they will eventually patch this, but an game already capped on 30 fps shouldn't even have these types of drops.
