FarCry : One of the best if not the best FPS I ever played. I love the first FarCry so much, I lost count how many time I played it : From normal to the highest difficulty, I run in this game all the possible ways. Crytek has done a good job with it. It's like there is a particular alchemy with this game the others don't have.(atmosphere, music, gameplay) No need of secondary objectives, the principale background was enough. I can't get out of my head, some places you reach by night, how funny the infiltration was until it turns bad, one way or another... The exterior, the labs, the beasts, great funny time. I remember to success going up on the hills, on each side, all crazy things you can do and try in a game. I play it at least once in a year. It's a game with a high replay value. FarCry is a great game. When Ubisoft has taken the relay, it was not the same at all. The following FarCry are built the same way Assassin creed use to, with a lot of secondary objectives. Also I imagine people who can love them or don't mind even if I notice them. Fc2 : The story was interesting but with a different gameplay, a good exotic experience, but the abusive respawn on each checkpoint ruins a little the pleasure. FC3 is better-finished than FC2. A good game with good story line. FC4 I didn't play it still. I let other people who appreciate more the 4 lastest episodes to talk about them.

IGN: FAR CRY 5 FIRST LOOK: A MONTANA UPRISING ca.ign.com/articles/2017/05/26/far-cry-5-first-look-a-montana-uprisingYou play a sheriff’s deputy caught up in a war between the US Marshal Service and Hope County’s resident cult leader, Joseph – a man who believes he’s been chosen to protect his followers from a government collapse he believes to be imminent – and his family: brothers Jacob and John and their half-sister, Faith. You won’t be alone, of course. Joining you in the battle for Hope County’s soul are potential allies like Pastor Jerome, whose church has come under fire by Joseph’s group; Mary May, whose father was killed by the cult; and Nick Rye, a pilot and soon-to-be father who wants to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, who both fought for the US.

Well, at least it's not cave-man age again... Nothing special to me, though. But then again, I don't tend to be super interested in FPS games these days.
I know it's a game and all, but the premise is a bit stupid? a sect or group of ridiculously heavy armored persons are allowed to have operations within american soil? wouldn't the army send some... "democracy" to them? I can get behind the idea of that happening in some island in the middle of fucking nowhere, but this? eeeehh. Anyways, we'll see. At least it doesn't look like Far Cry 3.2.

On the surface, the premise doesn't particularly interest me either, but I'll wait until we see more. I'm also curious how this all happens in an even... semi-plausible way. Is it a slow build of tensions that boil over into a relatively short period of chaos before outside authorities are able to intervene? Do they -somehow- cut off all communications and isolate the town for a period of time?

I'm not an american expert (by a long shot), but Montana is supposed to be one of the States with less population, or large portions of "no man's land" , or something like that in all US, right? So hypothetically speaking, we could maybe assume that such sect or group can go unnoticed because of it...?

Malmstrom. A USAF base up there, having that there simplifies a potential government reaction nicely though given the retardation in the politics of this game...well. I thinking that the people creating this game are not amused by whom is currently in power in the United States, so I'd imagine there will be no actual response from the government, despite it merely being a few hundred miles away with strike capability to flatten this town inside 30 seconds.

Who else is excited to kill some stereotypical white, Christian Americans?! I stopped buying these games after 4 tbh. Though I wouldn't buy this game from that premise. Its not accurate at all for for who is doing that these days but then again I guess Jihad simulator 2017 wouldn't sell...like I hope this game doesn't.

Them interposing this message though is less than ideal however if they want this to actually sell then again Ubisoft has been hemorrhaging money for years now for projects like this. People don't buy games or at least I don't buy games for self reflection and introspection, at least not from those hacks in Montreal. Ah well if foreigners buy it to live out racial fantasies that's no business of mine, I hope they've actually updated the UI though given they've more or less being using 3's for what? 2 games now?

I love the butthurt this game is generating.
I probably won't buy it myself, unless they really distance themselves from the usual Ubisoft formula. However, if they actually create something new then who knows.
E3 is only like 2 weeks away.

Why does it matter that we're killing Americans? We've already killed everything else in Far Cry, and other games for that matter.
I am more worried that the game will just continue on with the boring Ubisoft open world formula. Climb a tower, scout the region and so on. Far Cry 3 was good, since then its been downhill.

I play video games for reasons other then to be lectured about my skin color and religion tbh Is it though? I doubt they're trying to do some political BS and shove it into the players, I could be wrong of course. But I think they just came with this idea of "Guys, let's set our game in America!!! that's gonna be superBBB!!1" I mean, if they were trying to shove some political BS they could've set the game in Syria or some shit... As a rant note, I think they're milking this franchise which is not good. Assassins Creed ended up (IMO) in the trash bin due to them milking the fuck out of it, and it ended up being just boring. Far Cry is heading in that direction too unfortunately. I think they reached the summit in FC3, after that it was downhill.

E3 is only like 2 weeks away. It starts the 12th or 13th of June I think. I'm curious about the Bethesda conference, after that I really have nothing to be excited about this year. I hope someone shows a super cool game, because otherwise it'll be another year of me dicking around in FO4 with mods, some Total War modded here and there, and The Witcher 3. And yes, some MEAMP. Why does it matter that we're killing Americans? We've already killed everything else in Far Cry, and other games for that matter. I don't think people is in SJW mode because we're killing americans this time, I think it is because the premise as I've said above is kinda stupid. And yeah, they definitely need to improve the gameplay if they want the game to be at least decent. Tower climbing and animal hunting again is just getting old real fast.

I also have a hard time imagining a Far Cry-level of violence and mayhem taking place on American soil for very long, in terms of a large area being unsafe for civilians and body counts up in the hundreds. Even if some cult managed to arm itself to the teeth with all kinds of advanced weaponry, most likely one of two things would happen:
1) The government would surround them with armed civilian law enforcement and attempt to wait them out while attempting to negotiate a surrender. But neither local law enforcement nor the U.S. Marshals would just go in and fight a mini-war with them, especially if they're well-armed enough to resist effectively. Nobody wants another Waco, nor would the local police or the Marshals be expected to put their own lives at that level of risk.
2) If the cult members really did start attacking and killing people (law enforcement or otherwise) in large numbers, I have to think that the government would at least consider declaring this an armed insurrection and suspending posse comitatus so that the military could go in and put an end to it.
They definitely would not have a sheriff's deputy out there waging some sort of one-man war.

Not really because they are killing americans, but because the villains of this story seem to be highly steriotipical republicans. Combine that with the current political climate in america, and you can get an idea why some people are pissed off. I for one will wait and see. But if this game is really just "herp derp, conservatism = evil" then I certanly won't be getting my hands on it.

Well, read the post Hrungr made. The one that outlines the premise of the story.
The villain believes he has been chosen to protect his followers from a Government collapse he believes is imminent.
Isn't the villain always somewhat right at the end of these Far Cry games?
That right there could be the reason why the military or the government hasn't done anything about this. Because they simply can't.

Because they simply can't. I don't know, the story had that grey area at some points. Although if you're killing people left and right (See Vaas in FC3 and his "master" don't even remember the name), that immediately brands you as evil, no matter your motivations. And why the military or the government couldn't do anything about it? specially when we're talking about the US, and a bunch of dickheads messing within your own country. Whatever kind of "cult with guns" it is, it'd be immediately branded as a terrorist faction (because that's kind of what they are), and then it'd GG for them.
