Far Cry 6 and Far Cry series

Yep, the DLCs look great. I don't necessarily need the Zombie thing (way too much of that in games already) but the Vietnam and the Mars DLC could be really cool. I'm sure they'll have the typical wackiness we have come to expect from FC. It's gonna be fun!

I'm a little late for commenting on this, but due to my general lack of interest in Far Cry 5 so far (and western video gaming in general), I was wondering...

Anyone ever tried Primal survival mode? I decided to start it up after having it sitting on my ps4 library for some months, but the beast permadeath feels like a dealbreaker to me. Not to mention being forced to walk all the time sounds a bit annoying too since sprinting cost too much stamina.

"Paid cheats" - one of the dumbest innovations since the invention of the MTX.

Not naive at all, because I've seen how they were implemented in past games.
So I'm judging based on actual track record.

And a guy in the comments said "maybe it's like in real life, the better you look the faster you progress".

I'm neutral on it.

Because in Black Flag I had amassed some helix points in-game I did activate the 'time-saver' to bypass finding chests on islands.
Never again, because I found I had just short-changed myself game fun in return for having some upgrades 'now!'.

So the time-savers are entirely superfluous.

I can however understand that there may be people who just want to bang through the campaign, don't enjoy the collecting, have some surplus cash and want 'all the things' (shrug)

My issue with Yong's videos are that he assumes the grind has been adjusted to screw people over, from past Ubisoft games back to Black Flag that I have played, I see no evidence of that being the case.

Yong also assumes lootboxes because he hasn't seen them yet. (?)

Summary:

Far Cry is a mature game for adults.
If some adults choose to bypass some 'collection' activities for 2 or 3 $ I really have no issue with that so long as these mechanics are genuinely optional and haven't gimped the game.

Compare the way it's being done in Far Cry 5 and EA/BFII. Worlds apart (aside from the recent BFII climb down).

There are two questions:

Is there a philosophical issue with where microtransactions could go or be implemented? Yes.
Is Far Cry 5's game economy shitty? Looks like no.

So today, the argument:

"Microtransactions are problematic conceptually, screw Ubisoft for their benign game economy in Fary Cry 5."

Doesn't make sense to me.

Those triggered by them can fill their outrage boots as they wish.
("grrr this game I was looking forward to contains non-impactful microtransactions I wouldn't have bought, screw that!!")

I'll be taking a sniper rifle and a bear across the electronic hills of Cultist Montana regardless.

So non-predatory microtransactions are not confirmed, but are inferred based on recent track record and what has been said.
Reviews will probably be out on Monday.

I saw how MTXs were implemented in AC Origins, so I have no concerns, but that's a personal choice.
