Here's some Far Cry 6 gunplay from the trailers: I lost all interest in the series after Far Cry 5 but this looks promising. Not a fan of the 3rd Person view nor those ugly and wacky DIY weapons; however, any game that has the Stechkin, SKS, and PPSh-41 together deserves a playthrough.
Modern firearms are soooo BORING.

I've been advancing Far Cry 2 slowly, as its such a slog. Played FC: New Dawn throught too. Now waiting for 6 to arrive. Looks good and I just love the tropical settings, like in FC3 (which is still my favourite of them all, have played it 3 times).

Agreed.
It's part of the reason why I don't play FC5 anymore, the midwest setting is dull.
Regarding Far Cry 2, I feel the game was more experimental concepts than game itself.

Well, in 1080p, it runs smooth on ultra setting with raytracing on on my RTX2070, which is nice (aberage about 80 FPS).
Only did the intro so far and just met up with the Libertad but so far, I really like the atmosphere. It seems a little more grounded than the previous games. We'll see how it continues but for now, I am intrigued.

I am several hours in now and (as usual with a Far Cry game) thouroughly enjoying it. It looks like they toned down the non-stop environment aggro down considerably from FC5 - although that cuts out a lot of the predecessors random mayhem/hilarity it feels like a good decision. The game looks totally gorgeous, feels alive and atmospheric. The gunplay is as fun as ever.
As a set-piece mission the ship assault was really well done and overall the mission setups have worked well for me so far. Story and characters are also on the level - nothing great but good enough to keep me interested. So typical Far Cry fare but works for me. The only thing I feel that is worse in this one is the combat ineptitude of the opposition - I get that Far Cry games are designed to be a breeze in that regard and I do not mind that so much, but this game is in serious need of some higher difficulty options. And they even added a "story mode" difficulty that I guess will deliver exactly what the title suggests. But maybe that will improve now that I am entering the main island - we´ll see.
TL, DR: It´s in all ways a typical Far Cry game. If you liked the previous ones this one should also work for you.

Yep, after having finished the starting island and being several hours into the mainland, I can second this pretty much to the letter.
Enemy AI is a joke (as always) but I do think that some areas are challenging by enemy numbers and equipment alone until you gear/level up a bit. However, I have also already snuck into the highest rank region, stolen some weapons and got out alive, so yea, they are not the sharpest tools in the shed.
Also, I think there is way too much crafting in this game. I am not a huge fan of crafting anyway but here, you basically craft every little thing! You can trade for all the materials, so you can acquire them in different ways but still, there is just soooo much crafting, it drives me crazy just looking at the menus.
So those are my main criticisms for now. Otherwise, I really like it. It's the typical blend of crazy and dark topics, the world is beautiful. I was in Cuba for a couple of weeks in 2017 and they really did a good job making a crazy but still recognizable version of it here, just like they did with the fictional Montana county in FC5. I like Dani (female ni my case) and I think it helps that they went with 3rd person cutscenes. Also, I love that she sometimes will sing along with the Latino music that's on the radio when you are driving, gives her a little more cheer. Otherwise, TopTrog already mentioned everything important. I also like that as long as you keep your weapon holstered, you will not be immediately attacked. So you can decide the pace a little. You can certainly still shoot everything if you want. Otherwise, it's just Far Cry as we know and love it.

Saw that one yesterday. I am a fan of ZP but this is not his strongest to be honest. Yea, sure, it's the old Far Cry formula with just some little subtle changes but IMO, those actually have quite the impact (like the fact that people will not attack you on sight everywhere, etc.). And let's be honest, whoever buys a Far Cry game these days (and watches ZP videos) already knows exactly what they are gonna get and the chaotic rather pointless world exploration and shooty-shooty is why you are getting it in the first place. So his criticisms (and I have seen them in a lot of reviews besides his) seem a little hollow IMO.
Anyway, I am 35 hours into the game, have only explore about 1/3rd of the game world and I'm still having a blast (literally and figuratively ).

I've always been curious, since Ubisoft gets the most amount of shit for this, but how/what are people hoping that Ubisoft innovates on for each sequel? The jump from Far Cry 2 to Far Cry 3 was a pretty big shift. Same with Far Cry Primal. You could even include the DLCs like Blood Dragon.

I finally got Chicharrón, the killer rooster yesterday. With my unicorn, my pet crocodile, my dog in a wheelchair, my fake zebra and my ghost panther , my menagerie is almost complete now.

I havent been able to use Chicharrons rank 3 perk yet, as I still needed to get Chorizo's rank 3 perk. I'm curious to know how effective that dodge chance is.

I am working in Chicharron's third perk right now. Honestly, I think getting some of these perks is more work than fun (getting myself injured, so I can heal with Chorizo was quite the chore and right now I am just running around ordering Chicharron to attack distant enemies, so he does the flying attack). Anything you have to do 50 times and that doesn't just happen in the background anyway is way too much. I just want to finish this up so I can go back to Oluso. While the others are kinda fun for a while, she is my go-to and overall the coolest one IMO.
