Anyone else wonder why they made this ship so small if it was for a pathfinder? Clearly the pathfinder has a team. Based on planetside mission it's around six or seven people total. Yet there are four beds. This just enough for the pilots, doctor (since you do have a medbay) and engineer. Was pathfinder a solo thing? Was Alec supposed to be jetting around the cluster as some kind of solo hero? Of did Kallo et al get it completely wrong?

Oddly it seems even smaller from the outside As does the Nomad and shuttles. Vehicles in Mass Effect are always somehow given weird proportions where it doesn't appear like people of average height can actually fit in them. Walk up to the Normandy when it's docked in ME1. It's positively tiny compared to the internal dimensions in relation to some areas of its interior.

It's a scout ship with a small crew with limited resources going to a place they know they need efficiency over power and size. They made the ship small to allow it to use less fuel and resources. Also, sleep time is based on shifts. the beds are shared. And the pilot is salarian, he need just an hours worth of sleep.

I tend to hand-wave it away. You can headcanon/role-play the layout and why it was scaled that way, but ymmv. I do agree the scale is off, though. Off topic, but I like to think of the pet pyjack as kind of like a cat in its mannerisms.

Have you seen the Pathfinder's quarters? It's pretty obvious at least 2 or 3 of the crew were meant to be staying in there with her!

I don't think the Tempest was supposed to be "home" in the regular sense. They use it to get to destinations. The pathfinder, being special, gets special accommodations. I mean, the pathfinder is surely expected to engage in some seduction to get the job done and so needs quarters. The rest of the team just chills out until they return to their apartments on the Nexus. Original team was Alex, Scott, Sara, Cora, Liam, Greer, Carlyle, and one other I forget. That's 8 (same as what we have now) but I really don't think they were meant to sleep on board for the most part.

For the SR2 I felt there was not enough bunk space, but with an AI on board there is a high degree of automation, so you don't need a full crew. For the tempest I felt the pathfinder's quarters were too big, and there was no AI on board to explain the skeleton crew. SAM does not count because he is your head, not part of the Tempest the way EDI was part of the Normandy.
Is the Tempest meant for the human pathfinder? Do other Pathfinders have their own ships? If the Tempest was the only one, is it first come first serve?
Why did they make it look like the Normandy? To feed our nostalgia or artistic weakness?

Very much this, the Pathfinder is an explorer and first contact emissary, I know some folk are not used to the idea, after all Shepard was a soldier first, took me a while to cotton on, but where as combat was integral to Shepard's story, it's incidental to the Ryder twins story, we're told this almost from the beginning by Alec Ryder, first contact protocol. I have to say though, it took some time for the tempest to grow on me, I'd prefer something with a little more body too it, I almost feel like the tempest is a paper dart, but once I'd figured out the core story, I finally get it.

Am I the only one who was very uncomfortable with the bunking situation on the ship? And I don't mean my Vetra romance.
I'm the guy who doesn't like housekeeping cleaning after me even in fancy hotels, and the Pathfinder's quarters were just way too much; especially since the other crew members didn't even have indivudal or at least multiple quarters. Half of the size would have been more than enough, especially since all the possible functions (having conferences, viewing planetary holo, email, etc) are mostly covered in other already existing areas of the ship.
After DAI and to an extend, ME3, I just think BioWare is going too overboard with their godlike player character pandering. It seems like their new thing is coming up with silly ranks, and appointing those obscene, nonsensical amounts of purple & pomp.

Even so there is enough space on the ship for a few more bunks, which they should have used for that. It's silly to hot-bunk if you don't have to. And I'm not even talking about the Pathfinder's quarters, here. Though, Peebee sleeps in her "room", Drack sleeps somewhere that isn't a bunk (since he won't fit in one anyway), and I think Jaal sleeps in his room, so if Lexi slept on a medical bed, Kallo in his chair (only for an hour), and Liam on his couch, that's actually 4 bunks for the remaining 4 crew. Not great planning to start, but I suppose it worked out.

It's obvious that Ryder's quarters are fan service, big room, best view, push the entrance door and wall forward a couple of meters, and you got room for around another 6 bunks, perhaps even separate bunk rooms, and it would still be large with the best view.

Probably the real reason Cora is annoyed at not getting the job. Make Ryder's quarters much smaller, give Cora a small cabin since she's second in command, at least one other set of bunks and another toilet. There's easily enough room, the big space where the Nomad is parked could be used for something else too.

Guys on a ship sleep in shifts, so the rank and file don't have their own personal spaces so to speak. It was in the codex back in the MET somewhere in order to explain why there were so few bunks for so many crew.
Anyway yeah the pathfinder quarters. Total nonsense. One of the biggest rooms on the ship and it's all wasted space. Suspend your disbelief I guess.

It was in the codex back in the MET somewhere in order to explain why there were so few bunks for so many crew. In the real world that's because on some ships (less so these days) there's nowhere to fit everyone for their own private space. The Tempest isn't short of internal space though. To be honest neither was the Normandy really.
