The documentary film by Cassie Jaye. Have you seen it? If so, what do you think of it? As for me, I have seen it, and I love it. The basic premise is that Cassie, a feminist filmmaker and actress, discovers the men's rights movement, and decides to document it and see what it is, so she travels around and interviews several prominent figures in the MRM, such as Paul Elam and Warren Farrell, as well as feminist figures to counter their points. A lecture by Cassie where she talks about her movie: also Cassie is a qt 3.14

I thought it raised some important questions. The film's central message is compassion, which is always worth considering.

We have always been here. Mod talk/warning: Ok, typically we've kept social issue type discussions to the Politics thread, as they tend to run a little hot and making a thread about them specifically is not allowed. As this thread aims to talk about the documentary, it will provisionally be allowed, although if things go crazy, it'll be the locker for ye. So, keep cool and stay on topic discussing the documentary. Posts that go too far off track and begin or are likely to incite will be dealt with.

Still haven't watched this. I certainly plan to do so when I get the chance. It's available for $3.99/$4.99 USD (I don't know which currency you use, I'm just assuming) on Google Play, Amazon Video, YouTube VOD, Xbox Live, PSN, and most other on-demand video services. It was to be released on Netflix's streaming service, but they pulled support for it at the last second. As far as I know they'll be doing the DVD still, but no streaming unless they renew their deal for it.

Think I saw a ring on the finger in the Youtube speech though, so that is definitely 100% the sole reason she and I will never be In all seriousness I do plan to watch this documentary. I wonder if we'll be able to see the progression she's talking about from "just waiting to be offended" to actually listening and starting to genuinely process the issues at hand. I think that would be almost as fascinating as the issues themselves.

Hopefully she'll release a few of them on YouTube or something, I'd love to see exactly HOW her mind changed over the year she was filming.

I still to this day have no clue what Feminism is because I've never seen anyone claiming to be a feminist tell me exactly what they mean and what they want and what they think is fair in regards to the whole men woman dynamic.

Hmmm... I wonder if it's because they have no clue either 3rd wave feminism is laughable for this very reason; during the early part of the 20th century, women had CLEAR disadvantages because of sexual oppression. They couldn't vote or even own property in many parts of the western world. During the 1950s & 1960s there were also very tangible gaps in privilege that women had to fight for; the opportunity to join the military, to play professional sports, to be a Police officer or Firefighter. Now, in today's climate, what REAL, CLEAR disadvantages to women have? A very small (or fictitious) wage gap? A "glass-ceiling" that pretty much ALL employees are vicitims of, regardless of gender? Or is it the socio-political version of "restless-leg syndrome", an imagined plight by bored, privileged upper-class citizens raised in a "everyone gets a trophy" fantasy world, who have simply too much free time & not enough honest friends?

Finally watched it. A great one.
Unlike the current year feminists, Cassie (re)searches and provides real statistics and show laws or judges biases against men, much higher rates of men fatalities in work, the misconception of patriarchy in America, etc.
Also some interviews with men rights activists, feminists and gender study professors that show how reasonable the MRAs are, while most current feminists and gender study professors are out of touch with reality and are ideologues. You finally meet the 'Big Red' and other irrational and screeching feminists just bothering those who want to talk about or defend the unfortunate men and boys!

Haven't seen it and probably won't watch it unless it comes across at some point "on it's own". It's all cool and all she woke up, but in general I'm not interested about the drum banging when some individuals actually learn or get a glimpse of objectivity in their mind. I had a huge big rant here, but it would have gone so off topic that I'll just say; good on her. Borowitz made humorous article couple years back about fact resistant people, unfortunately he was very spot on with that. The research, conducted by the University of Minnesota, identifies a virulent strain of humans who are virtually immune to any form of verifiable knowledge, leaving scientists at a loss as to how to combat them.Source

I think that the title of the documentary is a mistake, as the majority of the people who would benefit the most from watching it will have a knee-jerk reaction to "red pill", and completely disregard it without any further inspection.
That said, apart from that, this documentary was pretty good.
