Maybe not waste a matter of existential importance of an entire society of humans and aliens on this? I just can't believe they wasted one of the "ark" stories on showing us a guy finding his dead lover and then having to decide whether to take on the mantle or go get himself drunk and that's all it boils down to. |

More than Avitus the entire mission was a wasted opportunity. The worst mission in the game IMO.

Maybe being drunk and whiney is how Turians deal with romantic heartbreak. Remember that Turian general in ME1 getting drunk in the bar and spreading rumors about the Consort because she wouldn't date him? He only knocks it off when Shepard lectures him. Same thing with Avictis, if Ryder encourages him to become pathfinder for Macen, he gets off his ass and does a great job. In pathfinder HQ you can talk to him about his progress in finding more Turian cryopods, and rescuing survivors. If Ryder doesn't tell him to be the pathfinder, he becomes an alcoholic.
