While I was playing MEA I was struck by all the small things that really brought home to me that Bioware did listen to fans about many things. People complained "how can ME3 not have X? We want X for the next game!" but no one later acknowledged that they did put in X. So thank you, Bioware for listening to us about the following: Walk/run toggle Holstering weapons Improving the Mako rather than just getting rid of it forever Getting rid of the gawdawful FemHawke/Shepard "sexy run" Mo mo-cap mo bettah Revamped planetary/system exploration Disappearing reticle during non-cinematic conversations No more creeper sidequests Sidequests that required conversation, a decision being made and that were rewarded with lore (a la Samesh Bhatia in ME1) Increased banter Increased romance/friendship interactions that we were not locked out of The option to skip crafting, mining/resource collection or trading completely Fewer mining nodes per map than DAI Nonmilitary protagonist Simultaneously existing male and female protagonists of different sizes Fewer daddy issues in the squad LIs for Sara that didn't 1) constantly tell her about their lost love or 2) dump her Persistent romance lines that could be triggered at any time (this was huge for me as I hate feeling like I have to choose the heart icon the first time it shows up or lose my chance) Bisexual Vetra (Maker bless Sheryl Chee!), No boobs for FemTurians More romance options More dialog options No cameltoe, robot or otherwise Faster turnaround on wartable/Apex missions More outfits Hair physics/more hair colors/more hairstyles Scars and tattoos Shorter MP matches Independent MP/SP Return of combat barks rather than trying to put banter in MP ("Did anyone try the ham in camp?" was one of the things that made me flee DAMP.) Keeping MP co-op instead of introducing PvP Destructable cover Increased verticality of maps to keep combat fresh No gun restrictions Independent power cooldowns Tech powers no longer overwriting biotic primers Faster aggro dumping with cloak Hand switching in combat (Left hand advantage!) Bizantura. I am well aware of what happened in the sale, just as I know that Bioware were not forced to do it. These kinds of deals are never simply imposed - the risk of backlash, leaks and disgruntled employees leaving and trashing you in public is too great. By the time the deal was done, the squeaky wheels at Bioware would have been given their grease.
This is just how these things work. Don't make Bioware out to be saintly victims here. Don't misunderstand me though - I'm not anti EA or Bioware. I just think their current relations and that of both parties to the fans are very unhelpful. There needs to be some serious repair work on bridges here.

Well, its his right to post this but I don't think this kind of thing is helpful. I agree the game has much to recommend it and threads that solely focus on the negstives are misrepresenting the game. But so do threads like this. The game clearly has problems, many resulting from being rushed out in an unfinished state. Trying to manufacture it into some kind of masterpiece ignores the myriad and very real flaws of the game. Which EA would be delighted for you to do. The internet already has far too much 'This is the greatest thing ever/This is the worst thing ever' oversimplications and tribal arguments about fanboys and haters. This game needs what all modern culture needs - real debate and analysis. Tell it like it is, not how you want to be. Because wbat's the point otherwise? This game was better than most said it was, but its a *long* way short of how good it could and should have been. This is what I've been trying to say for a while now. In the meantime we still have to deal with 'I love this game' or 'I hate this game' threads everyday, both sides completely ignoring or disregarding the other. Andromeda's critic score of 72 on PC shows that it isn't a bad game but it isn't a masterpiece either. People don't have to agree with that exact score personally, but so far, every hour I put in the game seems to understripe this general conclusion. For me, a lot of well done mechanics like combat are countered by buggy performance, sometimes shoddy writing and worlds which sometimes can be described as bland, tedious and repetitive. For others, the lists of things which can be described as 'good' or 'bad' will probably be different. That doesn't matter, what does, is that, even though you love or hate the game, there simply are things which are objectively awesome or sub-par in comparison to the OT or other games which have recently released. How much of a fanboy or troll you are shouldn't matter in these cases. Only the arguments you bring to the table to change or improve on these divisive mechanics should. As an example I would like to give the Asari-clone debacle. Defending Bioware's decision to get through with this is pointless and a waste of time. Even when you don't care that much about the clones or generally love the game it's be obvious that they made a mistake here. In this particular instance it would be better if we could just skip the 'you're a troll because you're complaining about this' and the 'you're a fanboy because you defend Bioware till your last breath' insults and just focus on what can be done to improve on this in the future. So all in all I believe we should be past the 'hate or love the game' stage now. That's something for first impressions and the weeks following a release. What we could really use now is fruitful discussions about the future. Apart from this I also would like to point out that it's still OP's right to post his opinion. I just believe that we should try to move past the 'cirklejerk about how good or bad the game is' and have some actual discussions about the game again. I agree with you henkiedepost МЕА not perfect, it has its flaws and bugs, and it needs to be discussed, we all wish better future for ME or DA, they have to be better! BUT - This thread was created OP (I guess) just to express sincere thanks to Bioware for stunning feeling and amazing pleasure and we, those who fell in love with MEA, joined despite all its imperfection.

So far, the game is exceeding my expectations on many fronts. I'm just loving the planet scanning... complete with the animations of traveling to and from all the planets and the very relaxing background music. While I can see that some people might find it boring, I'm not so far... maybe after I've scanned all the different planets out there. Contrary to the masses that love to criticize this game... I'm finding many of the side quests quite touching and relevant. As I said previously, the combat is hellish fun.
I am appearing a bit of a bug with the banter and even with getting some of the instructions from SAM about the various mission related data points. His dialogue seems to frequently lag... and if I don't specifically wait around for it, it unfortunately gets cut out and I never hear it. I've discovered this If I've wound up replaying the mission for any reason... and things sure do make a lot more sense when the appropriate dialogue kicks in to help move it along. (After it finishes off updating, I'm going to try clearing the cache to see if that helps at all.)

I'm playing the original trilogy now and yeah man... those rose-colored glasses can't hide the fact that I miss Andromeda. The Frostbite canvas is simply more beautiful and amazing. The fine-tuning and polishing is what's needed. The game as it is right now, is a solid 7, but with the DLC, I expect it to hit 8 or 9 like Inquisition. Inquisition only got a 7 from me for vanilla. Add the DLC and I say, "Damn you devious EA... you've got me hooked... must... have... DLC.... now..." or a solid 9. Origins is 10. If DA4 will include more elements from Origins, that is going to be my new drug.

griffonclaw39, I noticed the same thing, when i went back to ME3 for a blast in the past run, i kinda felt ...almost let down, a little flat even..now dont get me wrong i really enjoyed and still do enjoy the original trilogy but after playing Andromeda and the Frostbite engine the amount of detail and graphic content that they can now achieve is wild...one can only imagine what games will be like in another 10years with VR detailing. I think now to go back and play ME1-ME3 i would step back from Andromeda for a month or two so i didnt start the comparing thing we do.. And yeh cant wait for DLC's to start rolling in..

I'm playing my final run of the trilogy. I've had better through Frostbite. That canvas is so damn beautiful and the potential is being met with each offering. Inquisition is beautiful and each DLC just kept adding more detail to that humongous canvas. Inquisition started off as a 7 and finished as a 9. I was critical of BioWare about the vanilla game and I tried the Witcher 3 (lasted 30 minutes and gave up. Geralt is not for me. No, seriously, I know it's great. It just couldn't hook me.) and a few other games like Pillars of Eternity (meh), Wasteland 2 (meh), Divinity Original Sin (meh), Tides of Numeria (meh), the Banner Saga (meh) and I eventually bought the GOTY edition. The DLC raised the game back to solid 9 and earned GOTY in my opinion. I fully expect Andromeda not to be any different. I want more DLC damn it.

I had a lot of fun with my first PT but haven't had the chance to play since then, real life has kept me busy. Now I will be able to play again but I am waiting to see if there will be any new dlc soon. We should hear about it sometime at some point. The best games for me are when I forget time and space around me, and just live out the story with my character and that is what it felt like when I played ME:A the first time. That is a great feeling! There are things that irritated med like the same face on every asari and so forth but the main thing for me is that I am having fun, I am enjoying myself. Thank you for that BioWare Hope that we will hear about dlc soon, it will be fun to start a new PT and see all the little things that have been patched in since the last time I played.

The 350+ hours I've sunk into the game since release says I agree with OP...so haters can suck it. Let me contrast that with FO4 (or really any Bethesda game) in which I doubt I managed 20 hours before boredom set in...which incidently has more wonky facial animations and graphical glitches, no story to speak of, and a fairly lame combat system.

I really enjoyed the game on it's own when not compared to ME:OT or even Dragon Age. It's a good game for the money and I spent about 200 hours with it. I'm currently playing through DAI and DAI has so much more complexity. Just the back stories of the characters are so complex. It's kind of the opposite of MEA. Hated the combat in DAI (before I got used to it..still don't love it) Loved the combat in MEA, except for only having 3 powers at a time. DAI is so long and complex. Each DAI region seems to have twice the content of planets in MEA. The writing and character interaction is so complex in DAI...even for side events. If anything DAI is too long...but MEA seems too short. I still like my CC created DAI character better than the small choice I got with MEA. So MEA is a good, fun game, but not great and not one I'll play 1000 hours like most of the ME:OT and DA series I feel the same way as well. When seeing it as its own thing, I enjoy it and like the OP it gave me a nice break from the real world. I kind of saw it as a fresh new start to a new series considering all that happened back in the Milky Way. Now I'm about to revisit the Milky Way for my fave entry: ME2. I miss cover! Btw, wonderful write-up OP. I may not agree with everything you mentioned about the game but the sentiment was really sweet. :-)

Speaking as a fan of DA2, as well, I say Bioware should have rocky productions more often.

But OP, CLEARLY the internet is right in that Andromeda is the worst game ever to exist! /s In all seriousness, thank you Bioware for creating Andromeda and still working on it despite the major biotic-backlash you've received from people. I hope you continue to work on more patches, DLCs & future Mass-Effect games

I'm sure bioware would have noticed your praise if they didn't close down their official forums.

Oh, I'm pretty sure they're listening. Can I add: Planetary hazards a la Haestrom Different gravity areas Dialog not locked out by P/R or reputation score The ability to make a good looking ethnic protagonist that didn't look like a white person painted brown (I didn't know how much I wanted this until I realized I was playing a PC of MY ethnicity for the very first time.) Previous patches: Increased inventory space Better eyeballs Better lighting on the Nexus Toned down makeup on Addison Toned down doot doot mouths Everything in patch 1.08, including: More and paler complexions for the CC, freckles are back! Unisex hairstyles. Mirror of transformation (So glad to be able to adjust my Sara's mouth position. Now she's perfect.) Bi Jaal! With new dialog for Scott
