Call of Duty gets destroyed for being a copy and paste. Yet Pokemon, gets away with it? To be fair, Call of Duty gets shit on for a lot of things. Copy paste is the least of its problems. Pokemon at least has tons of weird or cute creatures for collection junkies. Yet the most common criticism is that is the same thing.

Haven't played Breath of the Wild but he has a point. Certain games get praised for the same thing others get shit for. Have any of you played BOTW?. Whereas we've actually played Andromeda and can see it's mediocrity for what it is. Yes and what he is saying is true. BOTW isn't a bad game but giving it anything higher than an 8 is just absurd

Yeah, there is absolutely no way I am buying a Switch or Wii just to play this. this is the only thing Nintendo has left besides Mario nostalgia and they are milking it. I really, really want to play BOTW but it's probably the only thing I would play on the system, unless I have friends over and they want to play Mario Kart, or they create some brand new mindblowing exclusive. So for me it would be something like $450 to play one game. No thanks! I will wait 5-10 yrs and then see how much they're selling for, lol

A very good read.
But what I take out of this article the most, is that I have the utmost respect for the working people of bioware edmonton. They get shit on a lot in reviews and forums. But it really isn't their fault. They basically had to create all of andromeda ina year and a half. It's fantastic that the game I enjoy was created in only 1.5 years. I'm really hoping they get another chance to shine, with proper leadership this time around.
bravo bioware people, bravo.

There is also the possibility of playing it on PC, some skilled people already had it running on PC a few months ago . . . The guy in the video says it himself. An emulation can't be expected to deliver the same performance as the intended platform. So, yes, you can make it work, but not the same way as in it's native environment.

If that article is accurate, it means Bioware Montreal has developed this game in 18 months. The first time this game came out I found it OK, but after reading that article I understood that I have never been this wrong in my life. Developing a game like this in 18 months or so while having other problems during that period, is a goddamn massive accomplishment especially for a relatively unexprienced studio and they should get a throphy for it.
I just wated to say that I was wrong and I feel sorry for it
I still hate the fact that while this game has shitload of problems they prioritize making Jaal bi, that's just ridiculous and BW deserves all the hatred for that one

If the article was correct I was actually more surprised that they had to develop the tools for ME:A to develop the game using Frostbite. EA should have had a development team making toolkits for all of their studios when the decision to use Frostbite exclusively was made.

I care about the final product, not the process of making it. And the final product is not very impressive. I get what the OP is saying and he isn't entirely wrong, but development problems aren't really my concern as a customer. The final product is. Agree with @tzeenchianapostrophe that the final product wasn't great.

We all purchased/played a game we thought had 5 years of solid development and work put into it, only to find less than half actually went into it. Anyone with a brain knew that after the damage caused by ME3's ending, the next ME game would have to be top-notch to even have a chance of being a hit. Yet they still somehow let the process drift aimlessly for years! That for me is completely inexcusable even factoring out the ME3 ending factor. The fact they released this game in the state it was shows how dumb and easily pleased they think we are. The only thing the article changed for me was I shifted my blame for all this squarely from the creative people, to the management allowing things to get this bad.

The article was a very good read. I stated awhile back that part of the problem was likely to be frostbite. Just because it can make some games look really good doesn't mean it's appropriate for every game genre. The Unreal Engine has so many years and game genre baked in that it's ridiculous to think that a new engine can catch up in a short time.
I reinstalled the game and was playing it the last two weeks, and my opinion has changed. It's not only not challenging, but I'm actually very bored with it. My new opinion is the game's multiplayer is not very fun. I've washed my hands of Bioware and EA. I thank them for the existence of ME2 SP and ME3 MP. ME is now like most game series. Eventually, you just get bored. I'm checking out. I've already uninstalled the game. I really like the new Angara Exemplar, but the multiplayer is simply neither fun nor challenging enough for me to play it just for certain characters, powers, and guns. The only reason I played it this long was to max out my manifest, and I did that a week ago. I'm not going to even bother trying to get my Exemplar to X.
I built my PC last year anticipating Andromeda. All hype for Bioware games and ME (and maybe gaming) is virtually gone. It's amazing that my favorite game series of all time has, with the release of one overhyped game, actually erased my desire to game for awhile.

They designed and manufactured the Ford Pinto in less than 18 months. It was a car, it ran, but I'm pretty sure the customers weren't happy when they found out getting rear-ended gave a high chance of dying in a fireball from the gas tank exploding.
It's like having a work assignment, you were given a month to do, and then banging it out 3 days before the deadline, with just enough to keep you from getting fired.
They had a 60 month development cycle. The fact that they wasted the first 42 months isn't anything to give them kudos for.

I fail to see that Andromeda was "overhyped" when a major complaint by people about Bioware prior to the game's release was a lack of information about it... and certainly the previews were less than positive.
