Let me set out my stall first: I really like this game, I really like Sara Ryder as a protagonist and the game play is first rate. There are also some really genuinely fun moments, and some first rate sequences. But. But, but but - one thing which is driving me up the wall is the constant lack of polish. It's like they assembled everything and didn't revisit it to check. I still haven't completed the game (that's having kids for you) but I have reached Meridian, and activated the second tower. I love the design of this place, the lighting, the mood everything. The first cut scene passed off fine - the second? Fuck me! This is version 1.07 as well, no mods. We have: - A remnant turret (which seems to have appeared out of nowhere) firing throughout the scene
- PeeBee and Cora merging into some form of symbiotic creature that takes on one horrible form to eat your soul
- The camera focus being all over the shop, refusing to have people in the centre of the frame (a really common problem)
And this is just the latest example. This is really affecting my enjoyment, as if this sort of thing had been ironed out it would be so, so much better. It just needed 2 or 3 months of polish, that was it. It's so frustrating!

As if they weren't bad enough as two different people. The game is not awful but the lack of polish is a real pain in the ass sometimes... One time i got killed by a turret while i was talking to a npc.

The funny part is that they never fixed this. No. I just replayed the trilogy and yes, she is moving around like a biotic adept without the blue lighting during her speech. I laughed at it, but holy crap... you can overlook it because Carrie-Ann Moss sold Aria. Oh my goodness. She sold Aria and gave the game a lot more mileage through the Omega DLC. Omega was crafted by the folks at Montreal which is a feather in their cap. I don't blame Montreal for Andromeda. I blame EA and BioWare's horrible leadership going all the way back to the time the doctors (founders, leaders, heart and soul, etc.) decided to cash in and get out. I want to say more, but I don't have to...

That glitch has been around since day 1. I am surprised no one fixed it. I guess they fix what people complain the loudest about, like the face animations. Still waiting for my infinite loop loads to stop ruining my game.

To be honest while more polish would help I don't think it would have really bumped this game up for me into amazing territory.
The thing is that I still find it to be a pretty good game but that's all it really is. The Original Trilogy was amazing and left me immediately wanting to see more of this universe, while Andromeda is more like "I'll probably check out the sequel if they make it". That's kind of where I'm at with Dragon Age and Mass Effect right now rather than "announce it and I'm instantly on the hype train" like I was in the past. The Mass Effect OT were the sort of games that got me so invested I created an entire forum dedicated to BioWare games when they shut down BSN prime.
So I guess my biggest disappointment in the game is that it wasn't as good as the OT. Some might that's not fair to try to make it live up to an entire trilogy like that, but BioWare themselves created that level of expectation when they slapped the name Mass Effect on the cover.
and more polish wouldn't really fix any of that, as nice as it would be to have it.

Maybe this is why I didn't have as much of a problem with Andromeda as others have. I didn't think the original trilogy was "amazing". At the time Mass Effect 1 came out, I had a part-time gig at Blockbuster and could have tried out the game for free. I held off for a long time, knowing instinctively that no game on the Xbox 360 could live up to the marketing hype of the game about exploring the galaxy. Lo and behold I played it and then I played it over and over again. But not because it was amazing but because it was fun and I was bored and I didn't have much else to do. So then it should come as no surprise that I didn't dive into ME2. In fact, I didn't know about ME2 until I stumbled upon the info accidentally. I think I had read that the Mass Effect series was going to be a trilogy before, but again the first game was fun but not amazing. So I ended up getting ME2 after it had been out a while. I enjoyed it and thought it was fun, but not amazing. I really liked the character import idea as well. So I was on the spot with ME3. And I thought that game was fun as well, until the end. Then I uninstalled the game until I heard about MEHEM. Then that helped pass some time.

I think if people go into MEA not comparing it to the trilogy or seeing it as a sequel, the nostalgia is what made it so successful. It was a new beginning with a more optimistic feel and hope instead of despair, and we were told to see it as new and for good reason. I only just beat the trilogy last year, so I'm late to ME, but MEA gave me smiles, shivers and memories because of how much I love the ME universe.

I never wanted to get another helping of some Shepard story. What I expected, knowing Bioware and hoping against hope, they would deliver in the character department. That was always my main reason for buying Bioware games. Charatcer interactions. Not the story, not the combat, not the continuation of the Mass Effect series. Characters. They managed to disappoint me in what I considered their strong suit. Even more so, since I replayed DAI shortly before MEA was released. There was still something to discover about the characters there. There's virtually nothing to discover in MEA. It's not a bad game, it's a meh game. Something that's fun for a while but doesn't provide the itch to try something new on another run.

My Tempest crew became as beloved to me as my Inquisition. Pacing is what made it hard, but I made it work.

Even the only amazing game of the three has some very huge and glaring story flaws. But the more i play Andromeda the more i appreciate it. More or less.

Another thing I've noticed is that I am convinced most of the cutscenes were shot using Scott first, as the amount of time Sara's head is just in shot at the bottom of the screen is ridiculous. Seems to happen most during cutscenes with individual charachters on the tempest. Either that or their automatic focus to character is fucked.

In my opinion what you are experiencing is the problem with open world games and there is no guarantee that even if the game was in development for another year all these problem would have been caught and fixed because the amount of time it takes to go through the entire game. I could blow through Mass Effect 2 and 3 in less then a day while doing a 100% game. With Andromeda I am at 70 to 80 hours for the same thing. Not to mention that fixing one problems means they would have to go back and replay huge areas of the game to make sure there wasn't any other consequences.
I really hope BioWare drops the open world idea for good now, they don't have the goodwill towards them for people to look past the problems of that style of game. If you look at the games from Bethesda I would say Andromeda has a lot better polish then any of Bethesda's releases, but because of how the communities feel about the studios one gets away with an unfinished game that fans have to finish and the other gets dragged over the coals for months, if not years.

As if they weren't bad enough as two different people. The game is not awful but the lack of polish is a real pain in the ass sometimes... One time i got killed by a turret while i was talking to a npc. Kett base on Voeld? I was killed talking to NPC four different times in this game. Killed talking to NPC during Peebee's loyalty mission. Then the game must have realized it messed up and tried to bring me back to life. Ended up with shields and no health lol. Had to force close.

According to their statements, this isn't an open world concept. Which is of course company speech 1.01 or bullshit. Take your pick. Alternatively they could just make their open worlds work. Breathe some life into them, some reason to revisit instead of just presenting a static desert with randomy dropped or spwaning enemies. It's actually quite ironic. There's Bethesda managing to provide an engaging open world concept, but next to no story, and then there's Bioware, providing a story driven experience, but a lifeless husk of the open world approach. Combine them both and you would have a near perfect game.

That glitch has been around since day 1. I am surprised no one fixed it. I guess they fix what people complain the loudest about, like the face animations. Still waiting for my infinite loop loads to stop ruining my game. Are you talking about ME2 doing that? It's still there. It happens pretty often when you're about to start a mission and you're supposed to pick gear for your companions or use up remaining skill points. At least it saves before that happens.

No the merging Cora and PeeBee was posted here months ago. As for the loop thing, in MEA half my saves would just stay in a never ending loading loop and never loaded. Had to go back 4 hours.
